Unexpected squatters of the raccoon variety

My daughter and I checked in before the remainder of our family arrived. We were so impressed with how everything looked and how much room we had. I decided to open the closet located right off of the laundry area and came face-to-face with 2 raccoons!! I screamed and closed the door and thankfully they stayed there. The listing is on the third floor of a large Victorian home and I cannot imagine how those critters got there. I immediately started the process of contacting the owner/property manager. To make a long story short they were not able to located a local pest control company to take care of this immediately and so we were not able to stay. They arranged for another one of their properties for us that was right next door. This property was not a good swap for us as it only had 2 bedrooms rather 3 bedrooms so one of us had to sleep on an air mattress. The new property was very musty smelling through the entire house and the humidity inside the house was very high. I felt wet the entire time we were there. There also was not as much room for our group to enjoy time together. I appreciate that the property owner tried to make a bad situation better, but they didn't even offer a reduced rate on the new property. I had to ask for compensation.

Family Trip

This place was just fantastic! It was super spacious and the decor was awesome. The location was amazing with everything we went to only being 10 minutes away tops. We were able to walk to most places which was so nice. If we return to Springfield this will definitely be the place we stay at again. I want to try the different floors just to check out more of the awesome decor. Highly recommend this place.

The Bressmer - Third Floor

The pictures of this historic home to rent were an accurate presentation. The amenities were in abundance and the place we rented (3rd floor) was beautifully decorated with many time era pieces. It was situated in an area that was within walking distance to many tourists' interests. We would recommend this rental! Totally delightful.

Bressmer 3rd floor

We are so glad week booked the Bressmer! The rooms we're comfortable,kitchen was updated. Plenty of space for family of 4. Stocked well, near downtown and local restaurants. arrive and thrive did a great job on this property. They communicated well Pre and post stay.

Thanksgiving in Central Illinois

Our family traveled to Central Illinois for Thanksgiving. The Bessemer was perfect for us! It is a great location and was stocked with everything we needed for young children, cooking, and laundry. We will be back.

Historical fun

The house has beautiful architecture and is nicely redone. It only sleeps 6 people, so unless you bring extra mattresses, you will not sleep more than that. We had teenagers on the very small couches and they were not comfortable. There was a small live rodent in one of the closets. Very poor lighting outside the house, which was kind of scary because of the area. One shower and the door is coming off. Slow to respond to emails. Great walking distance to governor’s house and the capitol and downtown.
