Peaceful getaway in the country
I stayed at the Cabin in the Wildwood for over a week and wished it could have been longer. The cabin was spotless, there were lots of little touches that the owners have provided and the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up in the mornings. My favorite pastime for the week was sitting on the porch swing in the afternoon - just enough of a squeak to be pleasant! The cabin was close to the freeway and shopping but far enough away that you didn't realize it. The evenings were quiet, the morning mist would clear off to a beautiful blue sky! I will definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin in the wild woods. It was very peaceful and quaint, we enjoyed it immensely
We hope to make it an annual trip
maybe just a busy weekend
Was tempted to rate this as 2 stars as we believed there was some misrepresentation as to how quite and peaceful the cabin would be. The view from the front porch is several houses and the road. There's a house about 125 yards away where you can watch them smoke and hear their conversations or yelling at the dog. Speaking of dogs, there is also a dog and cat kennel 100 yards past that...right by the road that you can see and hear every car and motorcycle driving by for almost 180 degrees from left to right. There is an airport nearby as well as train tracks in Chehalis where you can hear planes take off/land and the train horn, throughout the day and night. Also, beware! the fence around the pasture in front of the cabin is HOT. We did not see signs or flags on the fence to indicate it was electric.
Ultimately rating 3 stars because the cabin is well maintained and clean. Toiletries and clean linens were available and there were sweet touches; Kay had planted some flowers right before we arrived and hid Easter eggs (it was Easter weekend) around the cabin. There was also a loaf of blueberry bread, coffee and tea (with accouterments) and S'mores fixin's. There are also trails behind the cabin that we were able to explore and if was warmer/drier we would have taken advantage of the fire pit.
The cabin is a beautiful log home situated on a nice knoll with great views. Beautifully decorated and has everything you could need for a great stay. Very private and relaxing. And the homemade cake was wonderful! Would definitely recommend.
Clean, well-stocked, nice cabin in woods with pasture views
Great little get-away and real nice owners. Cabin warmed up nicely during cold winter days. Will stay again. Thank you Jack & Kay!
Cabin in the Wildwood is quaint and adorable!
I stayed at the cabin with my mom and sister. It was perfect for the three of us, although four would fit. It was even more charming than the pictures! We enjoyed the property very much and walked around a little to take a closer look at the old barn and the animals. The owner buzzed right over when the light wouldn't turn on and fixed it for us, although we still would've liked a little more light. Although there is Netflix, we couldn't use it because there is not unlimited wifi - no worries, we brought our favorite movies on dvd. We wound up without hot water for about an hour, which we discovered when we couldn't do dishes or shower. We spent most of our couple days there eating delicious meals we cooked and playing games. The dining table seats 2, and the kitchen is very small and has just the basics. Overall, we had a very lovely time and would totally stay again. The little town was sweet to visit, and we also went to Mt. St. Helens visitor center.
