Hideaway By the Sea is tucked away on a private peninsula that juts into the Gulf of Mexico in a small, quiet complex (Gulfpointe II, MM 53.5) with four townhouse-style condo units in each of five buildings. Located on the islands of Marathon in the heart of the Florida Keys, Key Largo is about 50 miles northeast, Key West is about 50 miles southwest, and there is plenty of Florida Keys fun and beauty in both directions.
Hideaway By the Sea is a spacious two-story townhome with large balconies off the living room and upstairs off the master bedroom, just steps away from the heated pool, and with access to first-come, first-serve dockage.
Park in the shade in the assigned carport under the building, then walk up the steps overlooking the pool to your front door. Inside is a comfortable tiled living and dining area with two 10-foot glass doors opening to the L-shaped balcony, a fully-equipped kitchen with washer and dryer and newer stainless appliances, and a handy half bath.
Upstairs has two roomy bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom has a comfortable king-sized bed, two 10-foot glass doors leading to a second L-shaped balcony, and an ensuite bathroom with double sinks, shower, and private toilet area. The second bedroom has two queen beds, overlooks the bay, and has easy access to the oversized hall bath with tub. Hideaway By the Sea has 1,357 square feet and is meticulously maintained and stocked. You will feel good about calling it your Florida Keys home away from home.
Numerous games and books are provided. Beach chairs, a beach bag, buckets, noodles, fishing poles, and other fun-in-the-sun gear may be available for your use while you're staying at Hideaway By the Sea. Selection and amount always varies and is not guaranteed, but there is usually enough to get you started on your adventures.
Free Wi-Fi and cable TV is included during your stay.
The complex is adjacent to Vaca Cut which provides easy access for Gulf-to-Atlantic boating, diving, water sports, and fishing. The private Gulfpointe II dock is directly on the Gulf of Mexico and has a fish-cleaning table and solar lighting. It's a great spot for fishing, sunning, and watching the sunset. Among other sea and sky life, pelicans, egrets, heron, schools of fish, and the occasional manatee or shark sometimes come to visit.
Vacation dockage for your boat (up to 30 feet, no electric or water hook-up provided) is included and is on a first-come, first-serve basis and not guaranteed but space has not been a problem. Otherwise, there are nearby marinas and boat storage facilities with easy access.
There is so much to do and see in Marathon, including spending sun-drenched days fishing or at the beach, savoring countless happy hours and restaurants, plunging into Marathon's world-class dive sites, and tooling around the crystal coastal waters snorkeling, swimming and paddleboarding. Marathon's Turtle Hospital offers guided tours and the Dolphin Research Center offers swimming encounters. Ride the tour ferry out to Pigeon Key. There is so much to enjoy every single day!
Tucked away from public buildings, traffic, and public access, Hideaway By the Sea truly IS a hideaway - upscale, tranquil, relaxing, and very inviting. Watching the boats come and go across the Gulf of Mexico never gets tiring, and taking in both the sunrise and the sunset from the wrap-around balconies is a daily treat. It's a wonderful place to escape to and a fantastic home-base for your Florida Keys vacation!
