Two-bedroom, 2.5-bath townhome
Hideaway By the Sea is tucked away on a private peninsula that juts into the Gulf of Mexico in a small, quiet complex (Gulfpointe II, MM 53.5) with four townhouse-style condo units in each of five buildings. Located on the islands of Marathon in the heart of the Florida Keys, Key Largo is about 50 miles northeast, Key West is about 50 miles southwest, and there is plenty of Florida Keys fun and beauty in both directions.
Hideaway By the Sea is a spacious two-story townhome with large balconies off the living room and upstairs off the master bedroom, just steps away from the heated pool, and with access to first-come, first-serve dockage.
Park in the shade in the assigned carport under the building, then walk up the steps overlooking the pool to your front door. Inside is a comfortable tiled living and dining area with two 10-foot glass doors opening to the L-shaped balcony, a fully-equipped kitchen with washer and dryer and newer stainless appliances, and a handy half bath.
Upstairs has two roomy bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom has a comfortable king-sized bed, two 10-foot glass doors leading to a second L-shaped balcony, and an ensuite bathroom with double sinks, shower, and private toilet area. The second bedroom has two queen beds, overlooks the bay, and has easy access to the oversized hall bath with tub. Hideaway By the Sea has 1,357 square feet and is meticulously maintained and stocked. You will feel good about calling it your Florida Keys home away from home.
Numerous games and books are provided. Beach chairs, a beach bag, buckets, noodles, fishing poles, and other fun-in-the-sun gear may be available for your use while you're staying at Hideaway By the Sea. Selection and amount always varies and is not guaranteed, but there is usually enough to get you started on your adventures.
Free Wi-Fi and cable TV is included during your stay.
The complex is adjacent to Vaca Cut which provides easy access for Gulf-to-Atlantic boating, diving, water sports, and fishing. The private Gulfpointe II dock is directly on the Gulf of Mexico and has a fish-cleaning table and solar lighting. It's a great spot for fishing, sunning, and watching the sunset. Among other sea and sky life, pelicans, egrets, heron, schools of fish, and the occasional manatee or shark sometimes come to visit.
Vacation dockage for your boat (up to 30 feet, no electric or water hook-up provided) is included and is on a first-come, first-serve basis and not guaranteed but space has not been a problem. Otherwise, there are nearby marinas and boat storage facilities with easy access.
There is so much to do and see in Marathon, including spending sun-drenched days fishing or at the beach, savoring countless happy hours and restaurants, plunging into Marathon's world-class dive sites, and tooling around the crystal coastal waters snorkeling, swimming and paddleboarding. Marathon's Turtle Hospital offers guided tours and the Dolphin Research Center offers swimming encounters. Ride the tour ferry out to Pigeon Key. There is so much to enjoy every single day!
Tucked away from public buildings, traffic, and public access, Hideaway By the Sea truly IS a hideaway - upscale, tranquil, relaxing, and very inviting. Watching the boats come and go across the Gulf of Mexico never gets tiring, and taking in both the sunrise and the sunset from the wrap-around balconies is a daily treat. It's a wonderful place to escape to and a fantastic home-base for your Florida Keys vacation!

Why Laurie & Scott chose Marathon
We love the island-time lifestyle of the Florida Keys and have always wanted to own a place among the tiki bars and endless turquoise waters. So after a few years of contemplating and countless trips with many viewings of real estate for sale, we finally found our place at Gulfpointe II in Marathon. The location in the Middle Keys is ideal. An hour from Key Largo and an hour from Key West allows for reasonable access to any and every Keys activity. We never fail to meet very relaxed vacationers from all over who tell us that they return to Gulfpointe II year after year because they love the peace and quiet, the dock for fishing and sunset DIY happy hours, the perfect Marathon location, and the spectacular views.
What makes this Condo unique
With good bones - a spacious floor plan, beautiful views, a fabulous location, a really nice dock overlooking Vaca Cut, and an upscale feel - we knew immediately that this was the place for us. We aptly named it "Hideaway By the Sea" because of the community's hidden location on a private peninsula, and because the unit itself is hidden among the trees. It's a peaceful retreat within a tranquil and private setting. Having stayed in all types of accommodations worldwide - Irish castles, historic bed and breakfasts, tropical beach resorts, European VRBO apartments, urban boutique hotels, cruise ship cabins - we have a pretty good handle on what makes a guest feel comfortable and happy, and we instantly knew that this condo at Gulfpointe II would help us to fill the bill. Please read our terrific reviews - those posted by past guests through VRBO and additional comments written in the guest book at Hideaway By the Sea and copied below. We've been so lucky and grateful to host pretty awesome guests who really enjoyed their stays and had some really nice things to say about Hideaway By the Sea. We love it here and are confident that you will be happy at this little gem on the Gulf, too! Looking forward to welcoming you! Kind regards, Laurie & Scott

Hide away by the sea
Marathon is my favorite location in the Florida Keys ( been going there for years ) that being said Gulf Point 2 is a wonderful location in Marathon! There are several bar / restaurants within walking distance, also a great bagel store and the dollar store.
The condo has a fishing pier and a pool. Outside decks that face two different views.
The condo inside has everything you need and more than most that I’ve rented.
Thanks, Patty and Ron, and so happy that you had a great stay. Looking forward to your return next year. Thanks for the kind words. We're really glad that you've made Hideaway By the Sea your home away from home!
Such a wonderful place Marsthon is!
We had such a great relaxing time staying here at Gulfpoint ll
The weather was so fantastic we spend everyday by the nice warm pool. Enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets from our condo..
Laurie and Scott we very accommodating to us. Key lime was waiting for us! Yummy.
Very clean and very well stocked kitchen items.
We met some really friendly people everyday by the pool.
Tons of restaurants. Lots to see and if you don’t feel like doing anything just sitting on the patios was wonderful.
The only draw back for us was no screens on the windows. Being from a cold and snowy Michigan we would have liked to enjoy the sound of the water, wind and birds.
We plan on going back someday for sure.
Thanks Laurie and Scott
Was great to have you, Lori and Dean, and glad that you enjoyed your reprieve from the Michigan winter. So happy that you were comfortable at Hideaway By the Sea and that you had a great week in the sun. Looking forward to your return next winter!
Wonderful get away
We stayed in January 2018. We so enjoyed our stay at Hide Away by the Sea! Beautiful place and community. Great night sleep on such a comfortable bed! Loved the decor. The pool is great. Loved fishing off the dock. Lots of great places to explore on Marathon. Lots of local attractions. Laurie and Scott helped make our stay feel like coming home to family. We will definitely visit again. Highly recommend!
It was beautiful
I would highly recommend this property to friends and family! Everything was well decorated and very well-maintained. Watching the sunset from the dock was breathtaking and it was a lot of fun to fish on the dock - especially since you actually caught fish! There were tons of things to do and places to eat at in the area. I would definitely go back.
Caralin, you are welcome back anytime! Loved having you and so glad that you enjoyed the fishing and sunsets as much as we do. See you next time!
What an amazing property! Absolutely immaculate. This home is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Laurie, the home owner, was extremely helpful and was able to answer any questions we had. She sent us a detailed email with the names of the local restaurants and attractions. The pool was wonderful and the sunsets spectacular! We would most definitely recommend this vacation rental property and would love to return for a second trip. I wish I could give this a 10 star rating! Thank you Laurie for everything!!
Thank you, Kim. Ten stars to you, too! Thanks for keeping the faith after the hurricane. So glad that you all enjoyed your time and felt at home and really liked our place. Come back - I think a summertime visit is due! Laurie
