This superbly located character filled large home is literally in the heart of sophistication & action. With 3 very large D bedrooms, polished floors & lush c/yard views, you will have plenty of room for a large group/family gathering to unwind, relax & explore spectacular Sydney.
The kitchen & family room is spacious & very comfortably appointed. Literally a stones throw away from an abundance of dining, entertaining & shopping in this ever popular location of trendy Neutral Bay.

The space

The location of this large home is situated so central to the beaches, Sydney central business district (CBD), Neutral Bay Bus interchange 3 min walk away ( 5 minutes to the city by Bus) , shopping and wonderful Lower North Shore & exclusive Mosman (argueably the most exclusive suburb in Sydney). This home is literally a short walk to everything in Neutral Bay.

The house is quite large, well appointed and has everything you would need for short stay or long term stays.

This row of houses are historial and built over 100 years ago to service the Tram workers at the time when Sydney had existing Trams. This home has not been updated in last 25 years so do not expect a well maintained modern home. There are many imperfections and there will not be any works done to the property, except emergency electrical.

If you would like a unique travel experience and live in a larger home as they lived in early Sydney (with modern resturants & shopping a short walk away ofcourse), well this is an experience just for you!

This home is suited to young people sharing with friends, although families would equally appreciate its size and location.

This home may not be a 2 or a 3 star property to all guests, and its certainly not a 4 or 5 star property for all guests either. Do not expect a five star property for the budget price this large home offers. Note the star rating is not Sydney hotel star rating, so all references to star rating is the short term platform. Please see our other listings for properties which are 5 star if this is an important criteria for your stay.

If you are coming to Sydney to work or for a holiday to experience Sydney, you would not be spending huge amount of time at home regardless. This home will be exceptional in the numerous features it has on offer. Not many houses in Sydney can cater to parking for 3 cars!

Sydney's property prices are extremely high, (even in Global market), so its natural MOST Sydney people will not be able to purchase such a large house as this opportunity presents & offer it on this platform. This is a key reason why not many old large houses like this exist in Neutral Bay for short term stays.

You will not find the location, facilities or features of such a large house listed cheaper anywhere else in Neutral Bay. If you do, we would love to know about it becasue we have deliberately kept our rates low and reasonable for the budget conscious or large group booking.

As a wonderful older home with rich early Tram history in Sydney, this home has very high ceilings, floor boards throughout, large rooms and lots of character, including some visible cracks in walls/ceilings/door, old fire places & decorative lace iron rails. This is not a modern renovated property and minor updates were done over 25 years ago. The very reasonable rates of this home reflects the old character and old features this home offers for the short term renter.

This house is beautifully set up & we often receive comments such as "love how you set it up beautifully " is a common response. However, the styling is not to everyones taste and nor do we cater for everyones taste in furnishings and items displayed.

Children's needs are carefully thought out and always met when you make your booking with us. Lots of kids items are found in the house including all bedding, high chair, bath, huge toy chest, books & many other essentials and fun things to keep children entertained. There are plenty of parks nearby where owners take their dogs for regular walks and even a golf course is walking distance away.

NOTE-Please make sure you clarify if you have any questions. We do not answer questions about this home with respects to features once you have checked in. Everything has been spelt out on this platform and many signs and information is provided inside the house such as how the hot water works etc so we do not get questions during your stay. We have done this for ease and convience as we may not see or hear your enquiry about an issue instantly. In fact the online platforms advise hosts to make all items as easily and ready understood as possible, so small notes to explain most general questions are certainly there to assist you. We have a number of properties so we are busy professionals and care about clarity for our guests. Our focus is to saving time and ease of information it has nothing to do with strict rules or conduct.

If you book this property for a group of people and or you are a business you will have specific terms you will need to agree with as you will be held responsible if any member is dissatisfied with your choice of accommodation and not the host.

Health Factors
This is a older house but it does not have any mould or dust issues as is normal in homes of this age.
If you have any underlying health issues such as asthma or allergies then this house may not be suitable for your needs.
The house has ample windows for airflow and sunlight and these are some of the biggest positive aspects of this large home.

PETS
Pets are welcome, maximum of three (3) and additional fees applies for each pet staying.
This platform did not cater for pet fee but each pet carries a $100 fee and each pet fee will be added in by us. All pets staying will need approval prior to booking your stay. Strick pet rules apply so please read other sections if you intend to bring pet/s.


PARKING REQUIREMENTS
If requiring parking, resident parking pass will be issued as a $50 deposit (for each pass), which will be fully refunded (minus the booking fee we pay) upon vacating to ensuring it is left behind. Max 3 passes available. Parking costs are extra per vehicle per day being $10 per day, per vehicle.
No un-authorised parking of vehicles is permitted and additional fees apply per vehicle of $50 per day who breach parking Signs and parking rules in the "resident parking area only".

As this house was built 100 years ago, you will not find the essential ensuites to every bedroom as you do in todays design. There is only one toilet facility, although this is separated from the rest of the bathroom.
A kids toilet & a spare adult portable one is provided. Heavy use of bathroom facilities may hold up the plumbing in this older home. When booking this home, it is expectant the plumbing may take a little longer to re-adjust if 7 guests are constantly using the toilet. Do not expect perfect plumbing and if any issues arise, no plumbing works will be conducted as the plumbing adjusts itself.
This property may not be appropriate if you expect all facilities to work perfectly.
Note- the hot water system is good and no issue with this.

1. WIFI- all works and outages by TPG is not the host responsibility. Maintenance of line works & temporary outages are fully TPG's responsibility. Host often receives notification if works are planned.
2.Please note rules with parking in resident parking areas as displayed for the public in the specified area and explained further in House Rules.
3. Guests need to be mindful plumbing and any issues that arise because of it, is not the sole responsibility of the owner who shares common party lines with neighbours in this historic location. Please note, this location and surrounding homes have always shared a common party line for over 100 years.
4. Everything has been supplied for guests needs, and accurate numbers of people checking in must be given prior to move in to allow sleeping preparation to be met.

Beautiful Old house in neutral Bay

Very central to Sydney...close to buses, and not far from ferry to circular quay. House is old but has everything you need...comfortable beds, clean rooms..highly recommended.

Don’t

Listen to your instincts. The description of this property is long and detailed about how “old” and not modern it is, and what a great deal it is to be in such a desirable area. The property is located on Military Road which is busy and not quiet. At the time of this writing, Feb 2024, the wall leading up to the property is graffitied. It is located across the street from a condemned and boarded up apartment building and a Petrol station. The property is cluttered with unnecessary furniture (one room has 5 lamps-none functioning) with wardrobes stacked on top with boxes and toys some covered in sheets. Some furniture has little laminated signs telling you for “display purposes only” or hutches that are locked for “owner’s use only”. The property is old, but that’s not the problem. It doesn’t feel clean. The air feels dusty, the tables feel dirty, the property feels like a storage for excess furniture. Tried finding a power-point behind one of the beds to plug in an lamp and it was apparent they aren’t moved or cleaned behind. The lighting is depressing, the living room light has 3 bulbs, only 1 of which functions. There’s little laminated signs in every room telling you not to plug anything in to this power strip or it will “cause a short” or not to move the antenna on top the TV. There were lots of mosquitos, but that’s what comes with homes with no AC, you take the mosquitos with the opened windows and doors. Bottom line: it doesn’t feel inviting.

A great location to access sights of Sydney. A cute outdoor area and overall easy and comfortable

The location made it very easy to get around Sydney on public transport and see the harbour views- we enjoyed our stay! walking distance to several harbour inlets,ferry, shops and major bus route etc. My only constructive feedback is that I was unaware of extra cost of paying for car parking for the week and location on a main road ( which was ok though). Otherwise a good house, comfortable beds and lovely courtyard to sit in. The owner/manager was also great to deal with.

Neutral Bay is a trendy area for professionals when we purchased this house 30 years ago. Now Neutral Bay is considered a highly desirable area in Sydney and buying a home like ours is normally $3 million dollars, so very unaffordable for most people. Mosman is the neighbouring suburb and is one of the most expensive suburbs in Australia.
