Our property caters to gardeners, nature lovers, birdwatchers, artists, writers and people who appreciate a stress free, tranquil setting. The rental Villa has the most comfortable king-size mattress in Costa Rica! The second bedroom loft has two twin beds and private upstairs patio.

The villa sits in a working citrus farm and is surrounded by a private eleven-acre botanical garden. This two-bedroom Balinese style Villa has a kitchenette and outdoor Jacuzzi. Why visit Orosi? The Orosi Valley is a landscape of topical hues. The rainforest of Tapanti and the Alto Cedral Cloud Forest paint a background of various shades of green, teeming with wildlife. Every turn of the road provides a new diversity of colors and terrain. Located south of Cartago, the Orosi Valley is a true jewel. Famous for its beautiful views, colonial churches, coffee farms, white water rivers, hot springs and Lake Cachí, the Orosi Valley and surrounding towns are like a birthday present, waiting to be opened. The small quaint villages offer a unique location where you can relax and enjoy a real slice of Costa Rican life. During coffee picking season, September through January, the valley comes to life. The pickers can be heard singing and talking in the fields as they pick the worlds best coffee.

It is easy to book activities such as: guided local tours, mountain biking, horse back riding, hiking, water rafting, and other interesting activities to keep active during the day. For detailed information on local tours, visit our web site.

Orosi Valley Self Guided Tours

The Orosi Valley and surrounding areas have many different tours, which can take up to a week to see all of the local attractions. Of the top 20 things to do in Costa Rica, four are in or near the Orosi Valley, numbers six, seven, eight and nine.

About Stephen and Nancy Riley

We are Steve and Nancy Riley. We purchased this property in 1994 and built our first home in 2004. The villa was built in 2005.

Why Stephen and Nancy Riley chose Cartago

Nancy ripped out over 40,000 coffee trees to plant our gardens. The view, location, climate and Costa Rican people made this property our choice for our retirement home.

Exceeded expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Reaching our destination after many hours of travel was WONDERFUL. We were greeted warmly by our hosts, given some suggestions for where to find dinner before it got dark, and given a big basket of fresh oranges and coffee. The house was just what we needed, and we loved waking up every morning with a view of the rainforest, and eating breakfast out on the patio. Our hosts were helpful in giving us suggestions about what to see and do in the area. Highly recommended! Worth much more than the cost! Thank you :)

Beautiful refuge overlooking the valley

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here, and we couldn't have found a better place or hosts for our visit. WE used the house as a base camp and were out sightseeing most of the time, so we were only able to meet with Steve and Nancy briefly, but it was easy to see how anyone could become fast friends with them. Whether you are spending all of your time at the home or just coming home at night like us, they will be able to accommodate you. The views are spectacular, and you have a virtually unspoiled view of the Orosi valley. It's the perfect balance between getting away from it all and still being close to civilization. We would love to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful place and hosts

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful month here with our two daughters, ages 3 and 8. Steve and Nancy were so welcoming, the house very comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated, and the view is incredible. Our kids loved playing with the dogs and exploring the property. There is lots to do in the Orosi Valley. We enjoyed taking Spanish classes at Montana Linda and had fun visiting the pools in Orosi, Irazu Volcano, Tapanti Park, Guyana ruins, Cerro De Muerte. There is lots to do in the area! Thank you for a great stay.

Truly unique experience - Deserves 10 stars!

  • 5 of 5

There are few times in life when you come upon something you can say is truly unique and priceless. Paradise Peak is one of those places for our family. If you are looking for a run of the mill condo with people at your beck and call in a tourist town, this rental is not for you. If, however, you are hoping to introduce your family to Costa Rica and its beautiful people, landscape, and culture stop looking. You have found the perfect spot to immerse yourself in the heart of Costa Rica. Steve and Nancy appear to have studied the art of hosting travelers and are as close to perfecting it as anyone I've ever seen. As an example, our flight was severely delayed causing us to miss the local farmers market I had been so excited to see. Knowing this, the Riley's picked up various fruits and vegetables from the market for us and they were waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. They will give you privacy if that is your preference but are only steps away if you want to learn about Costa Rica from a local, get advice on activities, or just would like to sit and chat. The kitchen is well stocked with spices and very pleasant to work in, despite the lack of a range. The induction cooktops work amazingly well. Nancy's gardens are a sight to behold. I've paid money to enter botanical gardens not as impressive as hers. There were ripe bananas to be found on the trails while we were there and we collected several that were delicious! The dogs are truly sweet, polite pups. They enjoyed roaming the trails with my kids and we enjoyed their company. As for the area and excursions we took, we spent one day trout fishing at Finca Montańa Truchas, at Steve and Nancy's suggestion, which was wonderful. We caught enough fish to fix for a couple of dinners during our stay! We made the trip to the Irazú volcano one day which was fun. We also ventured to Turrialba where we went white water rafting in the morning down the Pejibaye river and that afternoon went canyoning (rappelling down waterfalls and zip lining). Links to the outfitters we used as well as a drone video my husband took of the property are below. Costa Rica is a marvelous country. Steve and Nancy are amazing hosts. The villa has unforgettable views. What more could you want???
