We all absolutely loved our stay at the bowling club. Fantastic facilities. Everything we needed and more. Awesome swimming spot across the road at the river. Lovely visits from rosie and spud the dogs which made our trip complete. We will definitely be back and will stay for a few more days!
Spent 1 night here while cycling great taste trail. Lovely place with everything you need. Gardens very well kept. Bowling club memorabilia lovingly preserved. Enjoyed watching the quails run across the back lawn.
Very homely, loved the colours. Warm and comfortable.
The outside area was a nice place to sit and enjoy the view and the sun. Great location for accessing the cycle trails.
Also short drives to Motueka and Moutere for eating out.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Recommended for nature lovers with a lovely swimming spot in the river and a winery nearby. Can do with better pillows on beds.
We had a brilliant time at the Old Bowls Club - it was set up so well, it had everything we could have needed. The decor was just delightful , we loved reading about the history of the club and the greens and beautiful gardens made it feel very serene. We enjoyed the swimming hole in the river next door on hot afternoons and enjoyed the location very much. Thanks so much!
As cyclists on the great taste trail, this property had everything we could possibly want. The location is very peaceful and is near river access. The house has been tastefully redecorated while keeping a 'bowling' theme. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. Excellent.
.A very pleasant stay while we visited children/grandchildren nearby

Vrbo contact procedure is a nightmare
The Bowling Green was a wonderful holiday home. Kathryn was very nice. We had to ask her where number 9 Peninsular road was, as we did not see the number at the road. It did not matter, as we liked to say hello to the person looking after the house. The house was lovely, contained all we needed and we could even play a round of bowls, before going swimming in the river.
The problems I had were all with Vrbo. When I tried to book the house, Vrbo texted us a security code, which never came. We had to repeat that 2 times before we could do the booking. When I wanted Kathryn to email me the code for the lockbox, I had to contact her via Vrbo. I had to wait for a code from Vrbo, which did not come the first time, so i asked for repeat. That was when the first code came through, which was rejected, but the 2nd code did the trick. Absolutely awful and unneccesary process, as you already know it is me, as you have our email address and our booking. When I received Kathryn's email, I wanted to thank her, as she was not sure I would receive it. Again the whole hoepla with codes. This time I could not get through and gave up, feeling bad about not answering Kathryn.
In short, the house was lovely, surrounded by a garden and the bowling green, it was spacious. If we are again in the neighbourhood, we would book it again.

Why they chose this property
This is a great spot for swimming or trout fishing at the river. The cycleway runs past the property. Although the adjacent reserve is busy with cars on a hot summer day, the cottage is normally very peaceful during the mornings and evenings. There are loads of activities to enjoy in the Tasman region: https://www.nelsontasman.nz/visit-nelson-tasman/
