Palm Cottage by Stay Waiheke
Summary:
Palm Cottage is a relaxed island bach made for easy days in the sun, a comfortable, welcoming home set within a leafy garden and just a short stroll from beautiful Palm Beach. With plenty of space for families, generous outdoor living, and a calm, coastal feel throughout, it’s a place where your Waiheke holiday slows into its own gentle rhythm.
The Space:
Palm Cottage by Stay Waiheke feels immediately inviting, with its bright open living areas and large windows looking out to the greenery beyond. The home is spread over two levels, giving families or small groups a sense of space and separation when needed.
The main living area is simple, comfortable, and relaxed, ideal for slow mornings with coffee, afternoon board games, or quiet evenings after a swim. The kitchen is well equipped for holiday cooking, whether you’re preparing breakfast before the beach or a shared dinner outdoors.
Bedrooms are spread across both levels, including two queen rooms, a king room, and a spacious super-king that can be split into two singles if needed. A full bathroom, an additional toilet, and a private outdoor shower make coming home from the beach easy.
Outside, the garden is the heart of the home, flat, sunny, and framed by mature trees. There’s plenty of room for the kids to play, as well as a generous entertaining space with outdoor dining, shaded seating, and the relaxed island feel that makes Palm Cottage a favourite for returning guests.
This is classic Waiheke living: simple, comfortable, connected to nature, and an easy walk to the sea.
Bed configuration

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire property, including the private garden, outdoor dining area, and off-street parking.
The Neighborhood:
Palm Cottage sits in one of Waiheke’s most loved pockets, a calm, leafy neighbourhood that feels tucked away yet still close to everything that makes the island special. From the cottage, it’s an easy stroll down to Palm Beach, a sheltered swimming bay with soft sand, clear water, and beautiful headland walks that open up to views across the Hauraki Gulf.
Just up the road you’ll find Palm Beach Store for coffee, ice creams, and beach essentials, and Arcadia for relaxed dining just steps from the sand. A short drive brings you into Oneroa Village, the island’s main hub for boutique shopping, cafés, galleries, takeaways, and everyday essentials. The area is also surrounded by nature, bush tracks, pōhutukawa canopy, and small hidden pathways that lead to neighbouring bays like Shelly Beach and Enclosure Bay, both perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and sunset picnics.
Palm Cottage is also well located for exploring Waiheke’s world-class food and wine scene. Award-winning vineyards including Stonyridge, Tantalus, Te Motu, Wild Estate, and Batch Winery are only minutes away. Even closer is The Heke Brewery & Distillery, a favourite for craft beer, wood-fired food, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. You’re close to everything, yet the surroundings remain peaceful, green, and deeply connected to island life.
Getting Around:
Palm Cottage is well positioned for easy transport around the island. The closest bus stop is at Palm Beach, just a short walk from the house, where regular services run between the Matiatia Ferry Terminal, Oneroa Village, Palm Beach, and Onetangi. These routes also stop near many of the island’s most popular vineyards, including The Heke Brewery, which is a quick ride away.
Buses are the most reliable and cost-effective way to travel, especially in busy seasons. Taxis and rideshares are available but can be expensive and limited, so pre-booking is recommended. If you’re bringing a vehicle, there is easy parking at the property, and many guests enjoy renting e-bikes for a scenic, effortless way to explore the coastal roads and cellar doors.
Other Things to Note:
Palm Cottage runs on rainwater tanks, a standard for Waiheke Island. We ask guests to be mindful of water use, short showers, no running taps, and thoughtful use of the washing machine and dishwasher all support the island’s sustainability.
Minimum stays:
7 nights from mid-December to mid-January
3 nights over all holiday weekends
2 nights at all other times
A cot and highchair are provided for guest use.
The two single beds can be made into a super-king upon request.
Pets are considered upon application with written approval.
Apple Door Play and external cameras are not operational while guests are staying.
Interaction with Guests:
For life-threatening or property emergencies, like fire, please dial 111. For urgent but non-emergency issues, the Stay Waiheke team is available via the after-hours number provided in your arrival instructions.
