About the property

3 bedrooms , 1 full & 1 3/4 bath, sleeps 6

As beautiful and peaceful on the outside as it is on the inside. You and your guests will enjoy your stay in this new, year round, lakeside home completed in 2012. Situated just steps away from the quiet western shore on the southern end of the historic island sanctuary of Isle La Motte, you’ll enjoy spectacular sunsets over Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains right from your own screened-in porch. Built by a local craftsman, the cottage features decorative woodwork, charming furnishings and attention to detail that is evident in every aspect of this island getaway. The bicycles and kayaks for guests will provide amble opportunities to enjoy your outside time.

Isle la Motte is perfect for bike riding and exploration, which will surely include a walk to the Historic Fisk Farm for Sunday afternoon Tea. Each week in July and August, features musical entertainment and art exhibits on the lawn and in their historic horse and carriage barn. Every visit to the island should include a visit to the Fisk Quarry Preserve, a 20 acre site which contains rich wetland habitat for birds and animals as well as home to the 450 million year-old Chazy Fossil Reef . Be sure to also visit St Anne’s Shrine on the northern point of the island, the site of the island’s first French settlement in 1666, which included a fort and chapel.

Terrific Rental

  • 5 of 5

The Little House on Isle La Motte was the perfect choice for a week long stay in September. It was a great location with a terrific view, very clean, well organized and contained everything I could have possibly needed. I would absolutely rent again in future years.

Relaxing Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (with two teenage daughters) stayed for a week at the Little House, and had a wonderful and relaxing vacation. We had never been to the Lake Champlain before, and the Little House gave us just what we were looking for. Beautiful weather, lake views, and the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. The screened in porch is just the best place to take your meals (or just relax) and enjoy the fresh air and view of the lake. We loved that the lake access was so close, so we could get in the water to swim, float (lots of "floats" provided by the owners) or take the 4 kayaks out for a while. We also took advantage of the bikes provided at the house for some lovely rides. Some good walks are also very close to the house, and we learned a lot about the geology of the island. Would highly recommend the Little House to anyone wanting to get away and enjoy lake side living!

Little House = BIG GEM!

  • 5 of 5

We had the great pleasure of staying at Little House the week of August 5-12, 2017.... We were four adults (two couples) and two teenagers.... The house met all expectations for comfort, lake accessibility and FUN! The beautiful dock/deck is just steps from the front door and fully equipped with chairs, kayaks, canoe and row boat making it super simple for us to spend many hours in and on the crystal clear water... We rowed, paddled, fished and swam many, many times.... The bikes were used for several 10-12 mile rides around the island... The house itself was perfect... fully equipped kitchen... inside dining for six... super comfortable mattresses on all beds with lovely linens (bed and bath)... fast internet and sat TV.... washer/dryer... In the evening we particularly enjoyed outdoor grilling on the Vermont Castings unit, croquet matches on the lawn, and dining/wine-ing in the lovely screened-in porch... Finally, I must mention Alex and her husband who were such wonderful, accommodating hosts.... They've built a lovely rendezvous, beautifully designed and very well-maintained... and, most importantly, they delight in sharing it with others... Lucky us!... 'Little House' is simply a most wonderful rental property.... You will not be disappointed.

Serenity

  • 5 of 5

Our second summer at Little House didn't disappoint. We had an amazing stay filled with swimming, biking, long walks, kayaking and games of corn hole all courtesy of this wonderful vacation home. The weather was a welcome escape from the heat and humidity of Maryland, and teenagers as well as adults enjoyed even the rainy days. Already planning next summer's visit! The home is impeccably clean and the location makes it the most serene and perfect vacation. ❤️

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from our week vacation at this beautiful lake house that had everything one needs! The pictures do not do it justice. The house is even more beautiful in person! Alex and David were a pleasure to deal with and they make the house feel like a home. The pillows, the bed were so comfortable. It was great to have kayaks and bikes for everyone! We have 2 teenagers and one 9 year old. We all had so much fun in the lake. The water was very clean and they kayaked, fished and swam everyday. I rented a stand up paddle board which was a lot of fun to do on the lake. Isle La motte is very quiet and we felt like we had the lake to ourselves! We had our meals on the porch everyday looking at the lake! The grill outside was so nice. I would recommend you go food shopping before you get to the house. There is nothing close by, which is wonderful when you get away but just make sure you bring all the food you need. Also, they supply all the towels and have plenty. I highly recommend this house. It is perfect for families that want to relax and reconnect. The kids said it was one of the best vacations we had! Thank you Alex and David!
