Quaint Two Bedroom Lower Unit

This 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath bayside lower unit features garage parking for one car. Make the most of the Newport Beach sun on the front patio or the courtyard. A charcoal BBQ and outdoor dining table are among the many amenities this beautiful retreat has to offer.

The inviting Dutch door makes it easy to enjoy the ocean air. The comfortable living room has a sofa, two side chairs, and a cable TV. A lovely four-person dining table sits in front of a sliding glass door that opens to the patio. The well-appointed kitchen has marble counters, a farmhouse sink, full pantry, dishwasher, and microwave. The fireplace is decorative and non operable.

The master suite has a queen bed, an en-suite half bath, a large walk-in closet, and sliding glass doors that open onto the private courtyard. The second bedroom has a twin daybed and ample closet space with a built-in dresser. Ceiling fans are located in each bedroom.

There is one parking spot on the right side of the shared garage available. Smaller vehicles are recommended. Additional free street parking is available on first come first serve basis if your car does not fit in garage. Washer and dryer available in the laundry room located off the back patio.

Just steps away from 10th Street beaches both on the bay and the ocean from this family friendly vacation rental allow you to make the most of your Newport Beach vacation. The unit is about halfway between both pier areas and their shops and restaurants.

We flew across the country to stay in Newport Beach. Our plane landed at 12 pm. We arrived at house at 1 pm. Check-in was at 4 pm. We requested early check-in. We had to wait outside the door with suitcases for nearly 2 hours before they would give us the entry code. The house was ready the entire time. This was unacceptable and uncalled for. General maintenance for the house appeared to be neglected for many years. Parts of the window blinds literally broke and fell to the floor upon touching them. We had to frequently rig and fix them. The washer and dryer were unusable until about day 2 or 3 due to hoses not being properly hooked up. The coffee pot was not cleaned, full of old coffee grounds, and mold was growing inside. From that, we hypothesized this house is not frequently rented. It takes a while for mold to grow. Also, black mold was growing in the shower.The listing says will sleep 4. That is ridiculous. The house sleeps 3. The 2nd bedroom had a 1-person day bed and a futon. Our friends had to bring a queen size blow-up mattress. We rearranged furniture to make it temporarily livable for 2 couples. The house was kinda cool and had the "old feel" to it, which appeared to be the general theme of the area, but general maintenance was not performed for many years. The living room TV had to be at least 10-15 years old. The TV stand was rigged to fit the TV, making it look ridiculous. The bedrooms had no TVs.We made the best of it.

The apartment was comfortable with a well appointed kitchen. The area is great with restaurants and a lot of opportunity for outdoor fun.

Recent stay

House was as advertised in a nice area steps to the Bay and Ocean. Upon arrival, however, house was very dirty...floors were dirty and sticky, bathroom toilet was not cleaned and Kitchen looked like it had not been cleaned in a few weeks. Kitchen was well stocked, but the Microwave looked like it was from 1971. Still managed to have a nice time, but property manager needs to get a new cleaning service for what they charge per night to rent this place.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I will never rent from Burr White again. This location was great, the house ok, but Burr White's customer service was dismal. Upon arrival the toilet wouldn't flush and the shower curtain fell every time someone touched it. Upon calling BW, we were expected to wait for the maintenance person AND the plumber the next day. Also, the BW customer service agent actually blamed US for the toilet..twice! To say I was upset is an understatement. To immediately blame the client is totally unacceptable. To make matters worse, we drove almost 10 hours to get there and had to struggle to make the tight window to pick up the keys (ever hear of a lockbox?!), and then to find I had to make up all the beds as the sheets were left on top of them, was frustrating..I was tired and on vacation and didn't want to make up my own beds in a rental. Small thing, but really below standards for Newport Beach. Again, will never rent with Burr White again..too many things made what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, stressful...all unnecessarily.

Great location, lots of quirks

Loved the location of this house and the proximity to the beach. Very clean property. There have been a few minor changes to the property since the listing photos were taken. It's not a very intuitive space and it took time to figure out the pull out bed and the lights. Minivans be warned that the garage is TIGHT. I scraped the side of my van pulling into the garage. Driving from out of state and dealing with California traffic I found the one hour window to pick up the keys at the realty office a hard deadline to make. A keyless entry option would have been nice.

Wonderful location

The property was exactly as shown in photos and described. In fact, there were lots more kitchen and beach supplies than we could ever use. The neighborhood was convenient to everything. The management company was so easy to work with and made our stay seamless. We will stay there again

Great location but house needs updating

The location is perfect, literally steps from the bay and a few blocks to the beach. The house itself definitely could use some updating throughout. It had a bit of a musty nursing home smell to it at first, but we just bought candles and air freshener which definitely helped. The appliances are old and dingy and could use updating as well, we didn’t really feel comfortable making our own food at the property. The indoor/outdoor furniture needed cleaned. There were a few visible stains on the couch in the living room and we couldn’t sit at the outdoor table in nice clothes because the chairs and table were so dirty. Despite those details we had a good experience, but would definitely consider a more updated property next time at a similar price point instead.

Wonderful and relaxing

We loved our stay! Steps away from the marina, and only a few short blocks to the beach. We were able to walk everywhere, with access to great restaurants and shops a mile or less away. Only a few minutes from the airport. Can’t wait to come back!

My kids had so much fun being able to walk across to the little beach right there where they were able to paddle board and swim all on their own. It's a great spot for a family. The location was amazing. The house is smaller but for a family of four it worked very well. My family asked if we could come back and stay here again, so we will probably try for September to avoid summer rates and crowds. But this was an amazing spot and very close to the ocean beach so you can go to either type of beach every day.

Comfy Newport Getaway

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway in this gem of a property. The neighborhood is quiet, right across from the bay and a short walk to the ocean boardwalk. I would stay here again.

Perfect Place

1009 Bay Street has a view of the marina from the front window--an idyllic view. There are cute tables and chairs in the front yard where you can sit out and enjoy the view from an even closer perspective. The owner was very kind and friendly and shared home-grown citrus with me. I wish I had spoken to her longer as we seemed to share the same interest in books. The bookshelf overflows with spiritual and motivational writing such as "The Bhagavad Gita" and "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff." I really wanted to extend my stay so I could read more of the excellent reading selection. The art and figurines were also beautifully chosen and omens of good luck. I felt blessed to be there and my stay was peaceful and restful. The neighborhood was the best. I had a bike so I rode to Balboa one day and then to Newport the next. I rode on Buena Vista drive and saw the gorgeous homes along the bayside. Walking along the beach was also fun and so close by. The duplex is ideally located. It was an awesome trip and I had a wonderful time.
