This is a lovely property with fantastic views of the mountains and lake. Had everything we needed to make breakfast lunch and several dinners at home, enjoyed having morning coffee on the balcony, beds were very comfortable and the house was clean and well maintained — we enjoyed it so much that we added four days onto our originally booked four!

We had an incredible stay at this vacation rental! The home was impeccably clean, cozy, and well-stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing mountain getaway. After long days exploring Rocky Mountain National Park and walking around the town boardwalk, it was the perfect place to unwind.The location is fantastic—peaceful and surrounded by nature, yet just a short drive to the lake and local shops. The hosts were wonderful to communicate with, making check-in and check-out completely seamless. We couldn't have asked for a better home base for our Grand Lake trip and can’t wait to come back!

Mountain Paradise

View of the Mt. Baldy reflecting off Grand Lake was breathtaking. Very nicely appointed. Drank coffee in bed while starring at the mountain landscape. Incredible experience.

Million Dollar View

Wow, the views are unlike anything else! There's nothing like laying on the daybed with a book and looking out at the lake and mount baldy. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of capturing the view from the elevated bed where the window gives a nice frame of mount baldy to the tall patio chairs and collapsible table/bar on the patio.

Beautiful cabin with great views

Our first night we saw a double rainbow across all of Grand Lake, it was stunning. The cabin is very well located, clean, and quiet. A perfect Rocky Mountain getaway

Gorgeous Getaway

Cute condo with all the amenities and beautiful decor. Though the view steals the show! We sat on the deck for hours. What a wonderful vacation.

Beautiful View; Wonderful Location

My family has stayed in this complex twice and can’t wait to come back. The view over Grand Lake is outstanding. Clean, well-appointed rooms with easy checkin and communication process. Five minutes to RMNP and less to Grand Lake. Great wildlife viewing from the deck!

It was a lovely condo. A great fuse of the lake of the mountains. We love the way you decorated the condominium. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, ground squirrels, and relaxing on the deck with a cup of coffee. Very peaceful and quiet. Bed was comfortable. Highly recommend this condominium if we come back to grand Lake, we will stay here again.

Great Grand Lake Location

We enjoyed our 4 day stay at Lula’s Lookout . The unit is very comfortable with a great view of the two lakes - Grand Lake and Shadow Lake. The unit is better stocked than any other place where we have stayed - particularly the kitchen. The town of Grand Lake is low keyed compared to other Colorado summer vacation spots. We kayaked every morning, hiked and picnicked in Rocky Mountain National Park .

Great place!

Overall a great place to stay for the price range. Everything was fully furnished and comfortable. Close to Grand Lake and still secluded enough to enjoy a peaceful time. Very accommodating for late check out and our children loved the board games. We will be back. Be opened minded enough to know the property owners are not responsible for housekeeping, we found the place dusty and with dog hair everywhere but we just let them know and cleaned up with the supplies available and enjoy our stay.

What a View!

Stayed here for two days with my kids and pups. Had previously stayed downtown Grand Lake, but nothing dog friendly this time. The view off the back deck made me rethink whether this wasn't a better spot. Great way to start the morning with a cup of coffee. Easy to drive and park in town. Beds were comfy, and place was well stocked. Very cozy. Ended the night with board games with the kids. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect Escape on the Lake

I surprised my Wife with a trip up to Grand Lake for her birthday this year, and I couldn’t be more overjoyed with how well it worked out. The Pennylodge is perfect distance from town to feel secluded and in nature while also providing easy access to downtown Grand Lake. The home itself was well furnished, and felt cozy. Like I was staying at some imaginary grandparent’s summer cabin. We found ourselves sitting in the porch, alternating between watching the boats on the lake and the many hummingbirds dance across the sky. I would recommend this location to anyone, and look forward to staying again in the future.

Overall stay was excellent. Don't like ring camera that views back porch area, privacy thing. should be move to outer porch pole. Main bedroom bed sits very high off the ground; it was difficult for my wife to get up and down on bed since she has keen issues. (suggesting of removing box spring or providing step stool steps or notification on website of height of bed) Otherwise, our stay was excellent, host responded to questions quickly. Morning sunrise was really nice over the lake.

Disappointed in this rental

Let me say this was a huge disappointment. I planned this trip for my family, after driving for 2 days to get here. We arrived to a messy condo with no running water. I had planned to stay in Grand Lake the entire week but our trip was cut short due to the condo not being ready. I have rented from VRBO for years and this is a first for me. I understand because of its location and not being accessible to getting repairs done right away, but knowing that there were broken water pipes and not following up to make sure they’re fixed before the next guests is pretty important.

This is not the experience we want for any guest, and we understand her frustrations. Unfortunately, the guests who departed the day before her arrival caused significant damage which required the water to be turned off, and a repair could not be performed prior to her arrival the very next day. Every effort was being made to have the repair made so that she and her group could use the home as planned. In the flurry of activity, we were unable to make her aware of what was going on. She is correct, at times it can be especially difficult to address complex repairs in a relatively remote mountain area, with a limited supply of materials, fittings, and qualified professionals. She arrived early, and we were still working to prevent any disruption to her stay. We care about your experience, and we’re always here to handle any unexpected issues that might occur and any of the properties we are involved with. In this case, we did of course provide an immediate, full refund and worked to help her quickly secure alternative accommodations. This situation was an unexpected and abnormal situation, and is not reflective of the experience other guests have had at this property. It is also not reflective of the high level of the homeowner's commitment to providing a very well maintained, comfortable, high quality property for guests to enjoy. We and the homeowners were able to get the repairs completed quickly, and just 3 days later another guest was able to use the property. You might note the numerous 10 out of 10 reviews that we've received since. We’d also like to highlight what makes this home so special. This pet-friendly condo offers sweeping panoramic views from the peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park to Mount Baldy, downtown Grand Lake, and Shadow Mountain Lake. Whether you're enjoying a summer fireworks show or simply taking in the views year-round, this is a truly memorable place to stay. If you have any concerns, or questions, please contact us.
