The Lake Wood with private dock access on Lake Fontana!

Location:
The Lake Wood is located in the back of a large private gated "Upscale" subdivision that borders Fontana Lake. The subdivision's entrance is hidden from The Great Smoky Mountains Expressway (HW 74) which connects it to all the main attractions of the region. The restaurants, shops and Deep Creek entrance to the GSMNP are about a 20 minute trip back HW 74 to Bryson City. The Cherokee Indian Reservation and its many cultural exhibits, shops and Visitors Center main entrance of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park are another 15 minutes past Bryson City. If exploring the sights of Fontana Lake itself appeals to you, you can rent a pontoon boat about 15 minutes away at the Almond Boat Dock or bring your own boat and launch at the Almond Boat dock about a half mile away by water. Then tie up at the floating dock The Lake Wood offers. If you are in need of a little more exciting time on the water; try white water rafting down the Nantahala River about 35 minutes down HW 74. The cabin is about 4 miles from the entrance along a well paved yet very winding scenic mountain road. This road and the cabin's driveway are easily managed by most all vehicles.

Access road:
Cars and Most All vehicles- Paved and hard packed gravel sections on a well maintained mountain road, Switchbacks and moderate to steep incline sections possible, no washed out section. Since the last few feet or so of the road is gravel, we don't recommend motorcycles. The parking area would not be easily negotiated by a trailer, boat, or motorcycle. We recommend storing boat trailer at Almond boat dock during your stay if needed.

Exterior :
The Lake Wood is a beautiful two-level property that showcases some of the most breathtaking views around! The cabin offers a convenient walking trail from the driveway that will take you down to the dock for direct lake access (May - September), and is equipped with excellent deck spaces on both the entry level as well as the lower level of the property that are packed with all the vacation necessities. The upper deck is ideal for sight-seeing and enjoying the mountain viewing providing ample comfortable seating options, and on the lower deck you will find a relaxing covered hot tub, fire pit, and quintessential porch swing for your enjoyment.

Entry Level :
The living room, kitchen, and master bedroom are all located on the entry level of the cabin. An exceptional feature of this property is the two-sided fireplace that splits between the living and dining rooms. On one side, you have the living room equipped with cozy sofa seating and chairs that surround the flat screen tv that sits on the fireplace mantle. On the other side, you have the dining room with a spacious table offering seating for six. The open and spacious kitchen is adjacent to the dining room and is equipped with beautiful stainless-steel appliances, great counter space, and a huge island central to the room with bar stool seating. Between the two rooms sits the half bath. Also on the entry level is the master bedroom furnished with a king size bed, and private ensuite bath with jacuzzi tub and separate shower.

Lower Level :
The lower level of the property features a large second family room that is split between the two lower-level bedrooms and bath. The bedroom to the left has a king size bed and tv with a set of French doors that take you out to a covered section of the outside deck. The bedroom to the right has a queen size bed and is adjacent to the shared bath providing a shower only.

Special Note : Fontana Lake is a man-made lake with water levels controlled by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). After Labor Day each year, the TVA lowers lake levels 60-feet to allow for winter snows and spring rains making the floating dock at this cabin inaccessible for the Fall and Winter months (October - March) . Fontana is a very deep lake, so even with lowered lake levels fishing is not compromised and public access ramps remain open all year.
