Beautifully refurbished 4 bedroom home just steps from Commercial Street. Enjoy the ability to walk to everything! Main floor has a large living room, a separate formal dining room, gourmet kitchen, guest bedroom with bath, and sitting room. Second floor shares three distinctive bedrooms and two full baths. Grounds are lovely and well maintained. Large porch in front of house great for people-watching and private deck and patio in back and side for grilling. Parking available for three cars. Sorry, no pets
We initially chose this rental primarily because of location (it's 2 blocks from the Boat Slip and 2 blocks from a grocery store!), but when we showed up we were all stunned by how spacious and gorgeous the house was! Our previous rentals felt shabby by comparison.
We had more space than we knew what to do with. The 8 of us could easily gather in the living room, dining room, kitchen and either the front or back decks. We could have stayed for 3 weeks before we felt we got our use out of all those spaces.
This property has two master suites. The downstairs master has its own sitting area (with two comfy couches!), a private bathroom and bedroom. The upstairs master has a reading nook and a private bathroom. The other bedrooms are a little smaller but have ample clothing storage.
Where else can you find 3 full baths AND an additional (outdoor, heated!) shower? No one ever had to wait for the toilet or the shower.
Finally, the kitchen was enormous with plenty of storage, a large refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, 4-burner stove, microwave and blender (not to mention 2 sinks and an island large enough for us to gather around).
Internet and phone service worked perfectly for us.
The only small negative we could think of is the lack of TV/DVD player in any of the larger common spaces. But we were able to gather in the downstairs master sitting area for our movie night and had such great weather all week that we were barely inside long enough to want for an additional TV.
Between the spacious accommodations (with ample privacy for 3 couples plus two singles), the charming decor and the primo location, we can't imagine staying anywhere else! We've already put ourselves down for next year and were happy we treated the place well enough for the owner to invite us back!
This is the third house we have rented in Ptown in the last 18 months, and we all agreed it ranks dead last.
The house is in a great location (less than a block north of Bradford, one block east of Shank Painter) and large enough, featuring 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. However, the size of the bedrooms is widely varied and in some cases they're very tightly packed with the furniture. In addition, the layout is curious, with the bedroom on the first floor tucked behind the bathroom, meaning you have to walk through the bathroom to reach the bedroom! Upstairs, the master bathroom walls don't reach all the way to the ceiling, and the door has about a 1" gap all the way around, making for a less-than-private experience during your most personal moments.
The features are a generally little worn or out of date; we had problems with the refrigerator (didn't stay cold, although the property management team did fix this within a day when we called) and the oven (very slow to heat up) during our stay, and the linens were pretty threadbare. The house was just clean enough, but we found the floors pretty filthy (wear socks!) and the window air conditioners in the bedrooms were noisy and mildewy. And nearly every door in the house was either too tight to close completely or didn't provide privacy (glass doors on a bedroom, and a bifold closet door on a bathroom!).
Take care on the front porch: the rusty fish statue cut up two people, and the dragonfly door knocker cut up a third person's hand.
Most significantly, there is no internet access in the house, either wired or wireless. And for some reason, both AT&T and Verizon Wireless have extremely poor reception in the house. Step out onto the porch and you've got 4G, but inside the house you're barely getting 1X or EDGE.
Although the location, size and parking are fantastic, we wouldn't stay here again.
