Juniper was born and raised on San Juan Island and has family that dates back 5 generations. Her great grand parents were The Settle's family that were the lighthouse keepers at lime kiln point state park. Her Grandmother was raised in the park and had many amazing stories of life growing up on San Juan. Her husband Sean moved here as a child in the early 70's. He left after high school and eventually moved back for a rural lifestyle after years of the NYC rat race! Sean's father is South African and spent his career as a captain at sea, logging more hours of his life on the water than land (so far anyway). His mother resides on San Juan in a little house by the sea, tending her gardens, and being a Nana extraordinaire. Sean is a designer and builder, passionate soul surfer, artist, husband, and loving father to our 3 1/2 son, Salvador. Juniper has worked in various forms of the tourism industry since she was 11 years old. From selling ice on the docks at for .25 cents mark up per bag, bussing tables at restaurants, dispatching taxis, waitressing, port docks, etc.! Juniper spent her 20's working for 9 or 10 months a year and traveling the world for the remaining months until building and opening the guest house in 2004. Her parents are on the island and reside in the home they built in the 80's. Her Dad has the Island's Sawmill that specializes in windfall, beachcomb, and selective harvest timber, and her step-mother was an incredible seamstress for many years, she made all of the curtains in the guest house (there are a lot)!
