Aelfor Cottage in Barmouth is a cozy coastal retreat with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The cottage is set in a quiet location but close to the heart of Barmouth with lovely independent shops, scenic harbour and large sandy beach.
This lovely linked detached stone cottage with free wifi, sleeps 5 guests. There is no designated parking, but guests have a FREE parking permit for the carpark opposite 20m away. Aelfor is pet friendly.

ABOUT THE COTTAGE

Aelfor Cottage in Barmouth is a cozy coastal retreat. This lovely bolthole has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and is set in a quiet location but close to the heart of Barmouth with shops, harbour and the beach. This lovely linked detached stone cottage sleeps 5 guests and is offered at a great price! There is no designated parking but guests have a FREE parking permit for Bradbury's Garage just opposite the cottage 20m away.

The Snowdonia countryside is right on the doorstep. Set on the edge of the National Park, Barmouth is close to the sublime Mawddach Estuary, Cader Idris and right on the Cambrian Coast with its sweeping sand beaches. Miles of stunning coastal and hillside walks await you!

Aelfor Cottage offers all the comforts of modern living, including new gas central heating, double glazing and FREE WIFI of course! The cottage is well equipped with everything you would expect retaining an authentic rustic feel.

GROUND FLOOR

Sitting room:

From the front door, off the lane, there is a lovely spacious living area which has a carpeted floor. The focal point is an electric wood burner style fire set a recessed fireplace. There is a 2 seater settee and 2 arm chairs plus a wooden coffee table, 24” flat screen TV with FREESAT, XBox 360 and books and games.

Kitchen/Dining room:

To the side of the sitting room is a lovely country kitchen finished in cream with tiled floor. A great range of quality appliances includes an electric oven/grill/ hob, Whirlpool dishwasher, drainer sink with mixer taps, Belling toaster and microwave. There's a lovely family dining table with 6 chairs.

Off the kitchen is a handy utility/boot room, with tall fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and board plus clothes airer.

UPSTAIRS

All bedrooms are carpeted. Travel cot and Highchair available.

Bedroom ONE (sleeps 2)

With a double bed, window overlooking the lane to the front of the property. 2 bed side tables with storage drawers and a tall boy.

Bunk Bedroom (sleeps 2)

With adult size bunk beds, window overlooking the lane to the front of the property, tall boy for clothes storage.

Single Bedroom (sleeps 1)

With adult size single bed, bed side table and chair, window overlooking the lane to the side of the property.

Family Bathroom:

Bath with shower over, glass screen, mixer taps, heated towel rail, pedestal wash hand basin and WC. Cushion flooring.

Originally, Barmouth was a tiny hamlet built almost entirely on the rock over-looking the river mouth and frequented by pirates. The sea receded, access improved and a small fishing and ship building industry grew. In the 19th. Century the railway came and Barmouth and almost immediately it embraced tourism and expanded. Surrounded by The Snowdonia National Park, Barmouth is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you are looking for. Whatever you are into: fishing, surfing, kite boarding, sailing, mountain biking, bird watching, painting, landscape photography or horse riding, there are endless scenic places to explore. Barmouth has two public astro turf tennis courts, a basket ball pitch and skateboard ramp. Situated on the edge of the Snowdonia national, Barmouth was awarded the Green Coastline award for its clean beach environment and water. There is a great selection of shops eateries and pubs. The mountains for roaming are very close, plus numerous lakes and rivers close by. If you prefer a guided walk the annual walking festival at Barmouth held in September is popular every year. Barmouth has a sunny west-facing sandy beach. Don't miss the spectacular sunsets over the bay. From early Spring through till Autumn, dolphins and porpoise can be spotted close to the shore, an amazing sight to see! It’s not unusual to see them on a daily basis in pods of up to 20. There is level access to the town where there are supermarkets, shops, bistros. You will find the most glorious ten mile expanse of sandy beaches from Harlech to Barmouth. Remember to bring your bikes, the cycle routes are fantastic and Coed-y-Brenin has some very interesting daredevil paths to concur. Visit quaint villages such as Llanbedr, the gateway to Shell Island and Llandanwg with its Celtic church in the sand dunes. Just a few miles North is the historic town of Harlech with its magnificent castle and golf course. Don't miss a trip to Llanfair slate mines where "The Last Knight" was filmed, learn how hard the colliers of Yesteryear worked. Portmeirion village, just 30 mins drive is gorgeous, (the Italian style village where The Prisoner was filmed). Barmouth certainly has a lot to offer, with an attractive and lively Harbour area; spectacular scenery especially The Mawddach one of the most beautiful estuaries in the world; birthplace of The National Trust and a walkers paradise. The Barmouth Bridge, built by Brunel. You must walk over it and enjoy the views. The bridge doubles as a footpath and cycle route giving spectacular views up the estuary towards Cader Idris. Queen Victoria once stopped her train to admire the view! One the way back stop to eat at The Last Inn, Bistro Burma or Davey Jones Locker are particularly good. The town hosts 4 festivals. In July there is Country and Western and a Kite Flying Festival. 1st. week in September there's an Art Festival and for 9 days around the 3rd. week there is a very popular Walking Festival catering for all abilities. The local Dragon Theatre holds events throughout the year but the most popular is a Jazz/Soul/Folk evening held every 4th. Friday in a cabaret setting.

Close to The Snowdonia National Park, Barmouth is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you are looking for. Whatever you are into: fishing, surfing, kite boarding, sailing, mountain biking, bird watching, painting, landscape photography or horse riding, there are endless scenic places to explore. This region of Wales is without doubt a 'hidden gem' with some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. This is a walker's paradise with Cader Idris just a few minutes drive away! Snowdon is only 60 minutes by car and the beautiful Coed Y Brenin Wood, with miles of mountain bike and walking tracks is just 30 minutes drive.Don't worry if you are not the active type, the effortless Mawddach Trail, featured in Julia Bradbury's 'Great Railway Walks' program, is accessible to everyone and takes you on a journey along one of the UK's most spectacular estuaries, brimming with wildlife. There are miles of beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches, as well as many local attractions, such as the Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Railway, which steams from Tywyn up to the mystical Dolgoch Falls. Just a few miles around the stunning Talyllyn Lake towards Corris, is the world renowned 'Centre for Alternative Technology' (or CAT) which is a fascinating place to visit and learn. Close to CAT is The Corris Craft Centre and King Arthurs Labyrinth, another must-visit place. NOW Open…………….. Surf Snowdonia is an exciting new surfing and water sports park to be built in the village of Dolgarrog, in the beautiful Conwy Valley of North Wales. Set in the foothills of the Snowdonia National Park, Surf Snowdonia will be a showcase for the World’s first publicly accessible artificial surfing lagoon. Not to be missed!! For adrenalin junkies of all ages… The world’s longest zip wire ride, here in Snowdonia at 2 locations!! Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Blaenau Ffestiniog Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Blaenau Ffestiniog, LL41 3NB Bounce Below is the world’s first subterranean playground of its kind – and its here in Snowdonia by. The surreal experience of Bounce Below is set within a historic disused slate cavern, installed with massive bouncy nets to jump around in, unlike anything seen before!!

Short breaks when available: Monday-Friday 4 nights and Friday-Monday 3 nights. There is a minimum charge of £299 for any stay.

Prices inclusive of energy, wifi, bedding and towels. Please bring your own beach towels. Cleaning fee of £9 applied to each booking.

If you'd like to bring your pet, we require details of their age and breed before accepting and there will be a £25 per dog supplement.

Changeover day is FRIDAY in the main season.
