The location of the cabin is great, close to 2 ski resorts and near several great restaurants. The stream in the backyard is very nice and great for having a pet along. That said, the cabin can really use some TLC. The electrical wiring is very poor (wires running along ceiling beams and power strips all over the place) and several bulbs were missing. Also, the main bathroom ceiling is not finished. The second bathroom listed in the description is in the basement, which could use some through cleaning up and serious organization. The Wi-Fi connectivity was good given that there was no cell phone reception in the area (which was to be expected), but there was also no working land line, which would make it hazardous in case of a true emergency. This also affected all communication attempts with management. After the first day of our stay, the heating system stopped working and we had to use a small portable electric radiator during some of the coldest days of the year (single digit temperatures). The management was notified and they sent a technician out to us the next day to check the system. It turned out the propane had run out. They called in a propane refueling service that came out within the hour. Once the propane was refilled, the gas fireplace started working again, but the main house heating did not. The technician stated that the outside unit did not work, so we wouldn't be able to use the main heating system, just the fireplace. At the end of our stay, we had to dispose of our own trash (per NC rental laws) which was fine for us, except the "convenience center" (trash disposal center) listed on the cabin instructions was closed on the day we left (a Tuesday). Given that no other alternate convenience center was listed, we ended up having to drive around with the trash in our car looking for an open alternative for an hour. Definitely not what we had imagined from the description and the pictures.
