The Jewel is located in the Bird Rock area of La Jolla just minutes walk to Tourmaline Beach.

This lovely Spanish styled home has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.

The master bedroom has a king bed, cable TV, an ensuite bathroom with a sunken tub, walk in shower and bidet.

The first guest bedroom has 2 twin beds and the second guest bedroom has a queen bed.

The living room and dining area are spacious and very comfortable with plenty of seating, a large screen Smart TV, Wifi and glass doors that open into the back garden area.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a Thanksgiving Meal or just a place for breakfast before a day at the beach.

The Jewel is a home where the outdoors will become part of the home.

There are 2 decks on ground level, one with a dining table and benches located near the gas grill for barbeques and outdoor meals. Enjoy the evenings with the string lights above and sound of the waves just down the street.

Located in Bird Rock, you can walk to a variety of excellent restaurants, shops, galleries, workout studios and bakeries.

The world of La Jolla is at your finger tips.

The Jewel is also a short drive to the 5 freeway that will take you to many of San Diegos' attractions like The San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, The Gas Lamp area downtown, Petco Park, The Childrens' Museum, Balboa Park and lots of other beach towns along the coast.

La Jolla is another San Diego neighborhood exuding a Mediterranean village atmosphere. La Jolla Shores' picturesque sandy beach runs north from La Jolla Cove and offers great snorkeling and scuba diving. Known for its galleries, shops, restaurants and the highly scenic coastline, La Jolla is also home to branch of the Museum of Contemporary Art of San Diego. To the north of La Jolla is Torrey Pines, home to the Torrey Pines Golf Course, one of the nation's finest public golf courses and the site of the Farmers Insurance Open in late January or early February. Located around the course is the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, which offers paths and rock outcroppings to hike on as you make your way to pristine and often empty beaches.

For homes that allow pets there are certain rules that always apply. Pets are never to be left alone in the homes uncrated if they are prone to check, bark or are not house broken. If you plan on spending time away from your pets please find a doggy day care or crate your pet. Any damage caused by your pet is not covered under your damage insurance. Nice house, lacks some basics
The house is nice and the master suite is pretty amazing. The biggest problem with this house is that it isn't fully equipped. For example, my wife and I stayed in the queen bedroom. There is nothing in this room except the bed. So, you anything you have in the room has to be placed on the floor. Even the shelves in the closet have been removed. No chair, no dresser, nothing. The house is advertised as sleeping 8 people, but there are only 8 forks and 8 spoons. This means you have to do dishes after every meal. The host only supplied two packets of dishwasher soap. Seems ridiculous for such an expensive house that sleeps 8. The host only left a small amount of toilet paper, only one roll of paper towels, no Kleenex, and only 2 beach chairs. Again, the house is advertised as accommodating 8 people. When I called about not having enough beach chairs, the maintenance guy did get us more within about an hour and a half. This is a nice house in a fairly good area. It is about a half mile walk to the closest park to look at the ocean, but difficult to get down to the ocean. The closest beach is Tourmaline about 0.6 miles, but this is a surfing only beach. We ended up going to Law Street beach which is 0.8 miles and parking is challenging. Bottom line, this is a nice house but be prepared to "make do" since several normal amenities are missing, like more silverware than you will use at one meal, and you might have to buy your own paper products and soap.

The Jewel
This is the worst property that I have ever stayed at. The fact that it is called the jewel has got to be a joke. We’re talking about a property that has not been updated since to 60s,no ac box fans are use to circulate the air that are not clean you have to have all window and doors open 24/7 which is not goood for security. Old family furniture piled in the garage (I would be embarrassed if it was mine) out side landscaping is not watered our kids wouldn’t even play on it. Cheapest furniture in the living room (awful) this isn’t even a 1 star. We actually left a day early to check into a hotel.couldn’t take it anymore. By the way there is an awful sewer smell in the area and the fact that you have to have everything open the whole house smell like a sewer. Do not stay here. I won’t stay there if it was free

Neglect
The outside of the property was neglected and unappealing. The stairway to the rooftop for drinks was rotting. The rail came off in my husband’s hand as soon as he tried to go up. There was only a tiny view of the water from the roof if you stood on top toes. There was no comfortable furniture outside. No cushions for the chairs. There were also several dead and dying plants in the front driveway and a hose spread all over the driveway. It was clean inside and the three beds we used were comfortable. The lighting was poor in most of the rooms. There were surround sound speakers still on the wall that did not work. One lamp could not be plugged into a socket. Compared to other VRBO properties we have stayed it was sparsely stocked. The bathrooms were also poorly lit and the master bath was a hazard waiting to happen for people over 65. We would not recommend this property.

Great spot!
Great location. Lovely house. Comfortable beds. Secure parking. Well appointed kitchen. Private outdoor eating and sitting areas. Access to laundry facilities. Quiet neighbors. Lots of good restaurants in Bird Rock and La Jolla. Short drive to Trader Joe’s, Von’s, Ralph’s if u want to cook for yourself. Highly recommend.

Disappointed
Lacking in amenities and house was pretty barren for what we paid and for the way it was presented online. Barely any supplies in the kitchen...one dish towel, no ziplocks, Reynolds wrap etc. no Kleenex boxes and 3 waste paper cans in the whole house ( included the kitchen. Nor sufficient instructions for the TV.
