The good, the bad, and the ugly
Husband and I brought my 83 yr old dad to visit his 90 yr old sister. Wanted a location on the beach with a beautiful view, a kitchen, two bathrooms, a pool, beach access, and an elevator (as they both use walkers). This condo fit the bill, and it’s lovely - even better than the pictures. It’s clean as a whistle and everything worked (though the storm door didn’t latch). The view is stunning and the windows facing the beach are sliding glass doors. The pool area was lovely and open. Check in was a breeze. We arrived late Sunday afternoon and were staying until Thursday. All good.
Monday morning - the pool was closed for maintenance and remained closed the entire time we were there. Wednesday morning - beach access was closed for maintenance and while owners were provided a code for an inconvenient go around via the building next door, renters didn’t get a code. The bad.
Thursday morning - we are leaving for home at 6:30 a.m. and the elevator was taped off for maintenance and we were told my 83 yr old dad would have to walk down the stairs. Admittedly, I didn’t take this one lying down and we did get out by 7:00 after a rather harsh exchange with maintenance so dad could use the elevator. (ADA violation!) We received no advance notice for anything only a sign when you ‘got there’ and Vacasa didn’t return phone calls while we were there. The ugly.
Eventually, after effort and a half days time, Vacasa did try to ‘make it right - so 4 stars instead of 2 or 3.
