Host is a Very Nice Man
Not what my family and I would call “glamping,” but if you don’t have a tent or sleeping bags, it works. It’s not nearly as spacious as the photos make it appear. The tent was filled with spiders, so the second day the host came and sprayed and then let us use his shop vac to vacuum the numerous dead spiders and prolific webs. (Good thing we brought a generator and extension cord!) The sheets were clean and the pillows were pretty nice. Campfires were prohibited due to the Forest Service mandate. The lake access was uninhabitable, as was the lake itself, which was absolutely disgusting, but you can drive a couple of miles to the Stillwater Bar Loop to swim. The bathrooms with showers were pretty good, although it was a bit of a hike. The outhouses were just plain filthy and spider-infested. The turn-off to the campground is sudden and unexpected, with no signage on the high-speed road to include arrows pointing to the obscure little road to the campground, so we almost wrecked when we saw it at the last second. (The only sign is set back a bit and faces the highway rather than oncoming traffic.) The BEST thing about this place was the host, himself; he’s pretty much the ONLY reason we would stay there again. He clearly needs additional staff or contractors to clean the place up and add highway signage.
