Our house is in the town of Kanal which is a picturesque little town with a Venetian feel situated in the stunning Soča Valley. Our house is unique in many ways. It was built as part of the original town wall that surrounded the town over 100 years ago. The rear of the house incorporates one of only two remaining turrets that made up the original six. All three levels of the house are floored with pine whilst the kitchen is finished with terracotta tiles. The interior has been decorated in a modern fresh style without losing its original character.
The Kanal tourist office is just 20 meters from the Turret House and they are open 7 days a week. Slovenia Nature Agency (40 meters away) will organise and help you with all your tourist activity needs. There is an ATM just 20 meters from the house. There is also a small Spar and fresh bread and cakes bakery just meters from the house. Just over the bridge, there is a fresh cheese-making outlet and here you can purchase some fine-tasting cheeses. The house is close to public transport. There are direct trains to Bled and Nova Gorica if you feel like leaving the car at home. There is ample parking for your car in the square. There is also a wonderful safe cycle path along the Soca river to Nova Gorica. (20 km) You’ll love the location, family swimming on a sandy beach and diving just 100 metres from the house. A choice of restaurants and coffee houses. There is also a lively ambience in the town and I am fully confident that you will have a wonderful time in Kanal and Slovenia should you choose to stay at my house for your vacation. Of course, I will be delighted to assist you with your plans and requests before and during your stay at the Turret House.
