We had paid for 6 people to stay for 3 nights. VRBO took our reservations and deposit 6 weeks in advance. The day before our arrival, we were given final instructions including the door lock code. Then on the day of our arrival, the day before Thanksgiving, the agent representing VRBO and this house owner, informed us that the owner had decide to stay in their house and use it themselves. Thus on the day of arrival, our reservation was broken leaving us without a plan on where to stay. The agent offered us another house far away and much smaller. As it was just after 1 pm, the VRBO help desk was unable to determine if any equivalent accommodations might be available. We were told to call back VRBO after 4 pm if we still needed help. VRBO offered to try to help locate a hotel room for 1 night for stranding us.
