We very much enjoyed the remote cabin feel of this place. It’s roomier than it looks in the pictures and despite the fact that sounds travel we all slept well in the comfy beds in the cool lower level. The wood stove and comfortable furniture were great too. Thanks for a nice weekend!
Vacasa Was Unresponsive When We Reached Out for Help
I rented this cabin for myself, my husband and our kids 2 and 7 with the expectation that we would spend the weekend vegging out on Netflix, playing games, and relaxing like it was our job. I was excited to be staying at a cabin on 5 acres and looked forward to playing outside in this "remote" area with my kids.
On arrival we learned-- via a scribbled note on a desk-- that the internet was down with no hope of restoring it for our trip. My husband had planned to work some, using the internet of course. Had they let us known ahead of time (and there had been time to do so), we would have been happy to work with the situation, but the management made no effort to communicate with us.
When I called Vacasa, I ended up speaking with four different people, all of whom shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do before at last granting us a refund for one night. The refund was actually for an smaller amount than what we'd paid, I asked about this but never heard back why.
Over the next night and day it became clear that Vacasa is doing the minimum possible work to maximize their profit. The cabin floor was dirty, the bathtub thick with grime (I slipped when showering) and we had to rinse the dishes before using them.
The website described the cabin as "rustic". I like "rustic"-- it is not a pseudonym for "filthy".
Worst was the front yard, which was nearly carpeted with dog poop. The next morning, after spending the evening talking with Vacasa's reluctant consumer specialists, I spent 30 MINUTES cleaning up what amounted to HALF A SHOPPING BAG of dog poop. I'd gone outside to play with my daughter, but after we both stepped in poop and saw what was going on it was clear the only option was to clean up the yard-- something I do NOT expect to do on vacation.
Vacasa reached out to ask how our trip was going and I responded both to their phone call and to an email letting them know that I was disappointed with the lack of care and I wanted a refund for the cleaning fee to make up for the poop fiasco. I reached out 4 times via phone and email and never heard back, which is funny-- why reach out to check in on your customer if you don't plan on actually talking to them?
Vacasa's fees for administration and running of the property are higher than the rent of the property itself. Given that, I expected to be staying at a place that was clean and well-run. I'm very disappointed and will avoid Vacasa properties from here on.
We are so disappointed to read you were unhappy with your stay. This home is rustic but well cleaned; it was also inspected prior to your stay to ensure it was properly readied for your arrival. The dog belongs to the neighbor, and we are trying to work with them on this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. A housekeeper did call and leave a message prior to your arrival regarding the internet being out; we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with this amenity being out. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future.
Loved the Cabin
We just loved the place. It was secluded, roomy, clean and very homey. The WiFi doesn't work, but everything else was perfect.
The internet provider in the area can be hit and miss, but we usually just need to reset the modem. Please do not hesitate to call for assistance during your stay. Thank you!
Peaceful stay with a cozy fireplace
My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary here. We loved the upstairs space, spent most of our time there together making hot chocolate, getting the fireplace going (which really warmed us up), eating dinner, and watching movies together. There’s lots of options to choose from.
The bed was nice to sleep in, no complaints there. We didn’t get to use the shower but it has a tub which is great!
The main discomfort was only that most of the windows upstairs did not have blinds or curtains unfortunately. We liked it overall though and are glad to have been able to spend a few days in the Gorge.
House is in a woodsy setting with only a wood burning stove for heat on the first floor with plenty of wood in the shed to keep you warm. Layout is great with all bedrooms on ground/basement level. Kitchen is well stocked with tools for any cooking you may do.
A great retreat!
We had a great time. It was cold when we arrived, but there was a fire set for lighting when we arrived. Made for a cozy, charming atmosphere...loved it. There was everything we needed for our stay. A great place to stay if you have dogs! The only problem was that the garbage from the previous visitors had not been picked up (outside).
A great location for all that there is to do in the Columbia Gorge👍
