Our private Cottage @ Seaside Sanctuary FourTheBirds.com is a charming, bright, two-bedroom plus two-bath cottage nestled on a private, tranquil, wooded oceanfront estate, decorated in English provincial style.
Extensive, peaceful gardens, mature orchard, spectacular floral bird sanctuary & shared beach access with kayak and paddle-board rental on request.
Bask in Cascadia’s majestic temperate rainforest brimming with a natural wealth of towering trees, exquisite roses, and spectacular flowering shrubs on the Saanich Peninsula made famous by the internationally-renowned Butchart Gardens.
Porpoises, eagles, seals, sea lions & otters play in the bay for an authentic wildlife show of natural wonders well beyond any captive sea-world. Enjoy the year-round ‘Natural A/C’: of the ocean breeze.
The heritage cottage is a private space for you and your family to enjoy. On the North side of the cottage is the master bedroom, with a king size bed, dresser, tall boy, large closet and a private full bathroom. The second south facing bedroom has a queen size bed, closet, and dresser.
The kitchen is large with a small table fully stocked with utilities and basic supplies: if you have any special requests please feel free to ask.
The living room’s country comfort appears delicate but is sturdy and luxuriously seats two lounging adults, a small family or your favourite pampered pet. Please keep pets off the upholstery & bedding and bring your own dog/cat beds or blankets to help us keep the cottage spick & spam.
Outside are adirondack chairs, a bistro table, and a bbq. You're most welcome to wander the gardens and enjoy the roses and other rare flowers. A detailed garden schema is available upon request.
To access the ocean, head south down the driveway and continue around the step-storm path through the Zen garden past the main house. Please note: use the stairs to the beach with caution as they are not even. If you would like to use the paddle board or stand up board please let us know, as you will need to sign a waiver. We have two adult life jackets and are pleased to advise on tides and marine safety. We also have crab traps if you would like to go crabbing in the bay for Red Rock and the occasional Dungeness.
Our community is quiet, peaceful, and friendly. We look forward to sharing the peace with you.
Please note: the cottage was built in the 1930s and recently, tastefully renovated with modern conveniences. She is a cozy, heritage, character cottage and thus a little rough around the edges.
