The camping field behind the inn also has easy access to Cornish attractions and activities, from the surfing beaches of Newquay (45 minutes’ drive) to the biomes at The Eden Project (35 minutes).

When you stay on the dog-friendly grass pitches at The Rising Sun, you can be first through the door of the inn and last out at night, safe in the knowledge that you don’t need to drive. Alternatively, you could get out nice and early in the morning to spend the day on moorland hiking trails and cycling routes or scaling the heights of Rough Tor (40 minutes).

And after a fun-filled day out in the Cornish air, why not relax over a tasty meal cooked by the gastro-pub’s award-winning chef, using the finest of regional produce? Accompany your food with a local ale or cider, drawn up from the former smuggler’s cellar below the inn.

For a change of scenery, Launceston (15 minutes) has plenty of dining options, from cafés to pizzerias. If you’d rather go down the self-catering route, pick up essentials for the barbecue from the town’s supermarkets.
