The Broadway Palms, built in 1914, is conveniently located on the corner of 17th and Broadway (unlimited parking), in Galveston's famed Historical District. It sleeps 16 in beds and another 3-4 on an extra twin mattress, couches/very nice air mattresses, etc. It has easy access to the Strand (4 min drive), beach (3 minute drive or 8 minute walk), restaurants, Pleasure Pier, fishing and any Galveston Festival/gathering you are attending with your family and friends! There's plenty of room for everyone! And, best of all...we have the BEST Man Cave on the Island that is kid and teen friendly!

This immense, historic home is nicely situated on a corner lot, offers 3600 square feet, 3 stories of living space, large rooms, high ceilings, century old, original, and hardwood floors on two floors. The house has been completely remodeled/restored to provide modern conveniences while keeping the history alive!

The 1st floor is an air conditioned/heated, above ground, brick basement converted into the BEST Man Cave on the Island! There's plenty to do on the Island, but while at the house you will also have tons of fun in "Captain Mike's Pirate's Cave" ! We have a Foosball table, a Craps/Black Jack felt/table, Darts, Poker table, Ping Pong table, DVD, Dish Network, TV, dominoes, chess, and kid friendly videos and games! Recently added is Captain Mike's Grog Room which has a Pool Table and Pirate Decor!! Going to the beach? Great! In the Grog Room/garage I've got a portable table with 4 seats, bocce ball, croquet, horseshoes, corn hole, beach toys, water skimmers and more!

There's also a 700 watt, Bluetooth stereo in the Cave to play your favorite music! Ready to dance the night away? No problem! Turn off the ceiling lights and enjoy the LED rope lighting, the Disco/Lazer Lighting, the Black Light decor, and the Black Lights! There's also 3 beer pong tables and a bunch of Pirate Photo props where you can dress up like Captain Jack Sparrow and others!

The back yard has recently been converted into Mrs. Captain Mike's Flamingo Lounge! Let's go PINK !! We did !! And, for the back yard cookouts we have a kitchen with a sink, refrigerator, 10' of buffet space, and 4 cooking options! We have a large propane gas grill, a large fire pit/grill (holds 30+ burgers), a brick oven/grill, and a large smoker with side fire box. The backyard is fully fenced. There's also seating for 20+ in the back yard! We also have two, outdoor, cold wash/rinse stations. It is THE MOST COMPLETE Man Cave/Back Yard/Garage combination on the Island! Some groups come...and never leave the house! There are also 4 bikes (bring your own helmets) you can use to stroll the Seawall or the Historical District !!

The 2nd floor is the main living floor. As you pass through the vestibule (mud/coat room) and into the foyer, you see pocket doors leading into the huge, open living room. We have a cabinet full of games in the living room along with several puzzles. Adjacent to the living room is a cozy, antique/nautical decorated Sun Room where you can almost hear the sounds of the beach which is just 8 short blocks away. The Sun Room has a Day Bed, a Twin Bed underneath, black out curtains over the windows, and black out curtains which separate it from the main Living Room. We call it a "5th bedroom". The main Dining Room has a formal dining table which seats 8, a Grandfather Clock, and furniture pieces from yesteryear. Next to the Dining Room is the Breakfast Room which has seating for 4, and Kitchen which also has seating for 4. The updated kitchen offers an abundance of counter space, and is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, small appliances, and all the dinner and cookware you’ll need to prepare that special meal. There is a washer/dryer room and a half bath located off the kitchen in the back.

As you travel up the century old, wood staircase to the 3rd floor, you’ll find 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The first bedroom, the 'Nursery', to the right, sleeps 2 with a queen sized bed and is adjacent to the Master Bedroom. There is a door connecting these two bedrooms, hence the name 'Nursery' (so that mom, back in 1914, could quickly get to her crying baby). It now has locks on both sides for privacy. The Master Bedroom, 'Palm Room', sleeps 4 comfortably with a king sized bed and a set of twin bunk beds, and offers a private, full bath. The 3rd bedroom, the 'Beach Room', sleeps 4 more with 2 queen sized beds. And lastly, the “Texas Bunk Room” sleeps 4 with a set of twin bunk beds and a full size bed. The 2nd full bathroom is conveniently situated in the hall and just a few steps away from all of the bedrooms.

There are 5 TV's (4 are smart TV's with internet access) in the house and WIFI is available throughout the house. There is also a Blue Ray DVD for those late night, popcorn movies, and Dish Network. There are no parking restrictions on either Broadway or on 17th street. There are 40 windows throughout the house so open the blinds and enjoy the natural lighting ! You will not be disappointed in the space, convenience, or the relaxed atmosphere of this home....truly historic and truly amazing!

Everything and more!!
Beautiful home, Great location, comfortable beds, and SOOOo much fun to be had!!! This special Pirate gem has everything you could possibly need and more. It is well equipped with entertainment of all kinds, board games, darts, pool, karaoke and even bikes to ride down to the beach to explore. After you've played hard and it's time to relax this comfy home doesn't disappoint. The oversized chairs, cozy nooks and delightful beds made it easy to wind down. We loved our stay at Pirate Captain Mike's home and made so many memories to cherish!

Pirate House Christmas
Our family decided to meet in the middle (driving) for Christmas! The house was nice. Everything was provided such as linens and housewares. The pirate theme was awesome and the kids loved it. Lots of recreation for them when we were not out and about. The location was central to the strand and the beach - we walked to both. The owner was very informative and took great detail to provide everything we needed for our stay. We definitely would stay again and We highly recommend staying here!!! Loved our holiday.

My name is Mike and my wife's name is Lisa. We have been married for over 30 years ! We have 3 kids.. We live in Atascocita/Humble and are members of Atascocita Presbyterian Church. Lisa is a Teacher, and my full time job is managing the house and making sure that you have a great time! We are both College graduates.

I grew up in this house! My parents purchased the house in 1970 when I was 7 years old. It has been in our family for 50 years !!! I took over possession of the house after Hurricane Ike in Sept 2008. Three and a half feet of water filled the basement and destroyed everything in it. After Ike, my family and I took on a very expensive, 10 month restoration project! There are pictures and detailed stories of its transformation on the mantel in the living room. We love the house! We think you will too!

I am also a Pirate at heart !! LOL! You'll love my Pirates Cave!

Why they chose this property

This 3 story house sits in the famed Historical District, just minutes away from the Seawall and the Strand ! But, more importantly...this house has HISTORY! This house was built in 1914 for an Attorney who was the main Attorney and Controller of John Charles League who owned the 'castle' which is catty corner from this house. John League was a land developer and financier who developed land northwest of Galveston which is now League City. Imagine the conversations, the deals, the rumors, the arguments, the planning...that took place in this house and in the 'Castle' across the street! Imagine the parties that were thrown in this house back in the early 1900's!

Close your eyes and imagine what life was like in 1914....it was the start of WWI, Henry Ford introduced an assembly line for the Model T, the first commercial airline flight was made in Florida, Wrigley Field opened in Chicago, Babe Ruth made his major league debut with the Red Sox, and the Federal Reserve Bank opened. There was no electricity in 1914...which means no lights, no air conditioners, no washing machines or dryers, etc. I didn't realize the historical significance of this house while growing up in it, but, I do now! Sitting on the front porch late at night...looking at Broadway...you can almost see the horse drawn carriages passing by, and the couples walking about...the Gentlemen with their long coats and top hats and the women with their big hats and long dresses. This house was built for one of the big wigs of the island back in 1914. I plan on keeping its history alive!

What makes this property unique

We have the BEST Man Cave on the Island! It's a 1300 square foot, Pirate Themed Man Cave with a mini night club and a Pirate Pub! We just got featured in Coast Magazine.

We just love the house! We love the location...on historic Broadway...close to the beach...close to the Strand! We love the natural lighting that touches all 4 sides of the house and the sounds of Broadway! We love the hardwood floors and the 40 windows! We love walking barefoot on the century old, original, hardwood floors! And, we love the Pirates 'Man' Cave! We have personally tested the Pirates Cave many times, and am 100% confident that it is the BEST Man Cave on the Island! And, combined with the huge backyard, it makes for a great place to stay. We love the house and we think you will too!
