Decent accommodations could be better

These are more of a serviced apartment type of accommodation rather than a hotel. The location is decent as it is quite close to a T train station, but if you really want to be close to the tourist part like Circular Quay and the CBD it can be cumbersome to make the 30 mins commute daily. The apartments are spacious and the bathrooms are large. The beds are comfortable and the wifi is good. There is daily housekeeping but I think housekeeping could have done a much better job. Also the reception and staff in general are quite young in their 20s and it seems like an immature and unprofessional operation. They could really stand to dress more professionally and their conduct could mean the difference between feeling like a hostel vs an actual hotel. Overall the place is good but just too far from the CBD for me to stay here again. I would recommend staying in Potts Point or CBD neighborhoods instead.

Close to airport

We chose this hotel as it is fairly close to airport and got a good price on it. Hotel is really cool, sort of urban industrial decor. Room was spacious with a kitchenette and snacks and beverages available for purchase. The area is very busy and eclectic with tons of options for dining and shopping. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Hotel with a Fantastic Location

This is a bit of a hidden gem in Newtown and fits perfectly with the vibe of the area. The apartment-style hotel rooms are spacious and clean and come loaded with everything you need (toothbrush, razor, earplugs, etc) in your room. The staff are friendly and make a point to ask how your day was. They also have snacks in the lobby during staffed hours which is great. It is super close to everything in Newtown (close to nightlife, movie theatre, grocery store, etc) and only a block away from the Newtown Train Station which makes it super easy to go into Sydney.

Hotel in vibrant area

The Urban is in a great location if you want to enjoy delicious food, coffee and drinks. Close to Newtown train station and numerous bus roots (to the city and beyond). This area is also very gay/trans friendly, so if you're any type of homophobic, head back to the redneck area. There's breweries around, vegan food, meaty food, Mexican food, pub food, every food! I absolutely love this suburb. Room was small but comfortable. Bed was crazy good. Bathroom was tiny but shower was spacious. No bath. Small kitchenette. Housekeeping came every day and managed never to disturb us! Not much on street (long term) parking available but I believe they have parking for $40. Staff weren't super friendly but by week three of our Australian adventure we were used to bad service. Security in the building was my only issue. Three times after 10pm (when reception closes and you're required to use your swipe card to access the hotel) the hotel door was either wide open or able to be accessed without the swipe card. This is incredibly concerning given how busy the area is and the fact you do not need a swipe card to use the elevator. This issue should be attended to ASAP. If you're worried about security - stay elsewhere. All in all, if security was amped up, I would definitely stay again.

Heart of the action stay

Small and funky boutique hotel on a very busy, noisy street in the centre of everything. Lots of little extras available, and very good service. Compact rooms

Great location in Newtown

Great location, rebuilt office structure. No washcloths, AC unit was a little old and struggled. It rained a couple of times, rather hard, the design of the hotel allows water to get inside the breezeways near the rooms, bit flooded but not terribly so. The price is a bit higher than the general area but many of the places here are hostels, this was a proper hotel.

Newtown is a very trendy area. The hotel is close to the train station which was great. The rooms were very small but clean enough. Parking was very difficult to find especially at the weekend. Was an ok hotel, don’t set your expectations high and you won’t be disappointed.
