About the host
Hosted by Jane Benney
I was born and brought up at Condurrow Cottage, which was purchased by my mother from Bosahan Estate in the early 1950s as a run down farm cottage. It was a wonderful area to grow up in, the area is truly beautiful with the Helford River virtually on the door step, we learned quickly to row and sail, having wonderful freedom to explore the footpaths and beaches. I have spent nearly the whole of my life here, running a business on the river and being actively involved in the community. I now live, with my husband in Helford which is 1 mile away, and my life still centres very much around the river and surrounding area. My hobbies are sailing, riding, gardening and walking.
Why they chose this property
Condurrow was purchased by my mother before her marriage, and together with my brother two generations of our family have been born and brought up here. Its situation to the Helford River make it a lovely place to live, just out of Manaccan village it is ideal for peace and quiet although there is a nearby working farm so it is not too remote. It has easy access to the coastal footpath and beaches and is close to beautiful gardens which are so famous in this area of Cornwall.
What makes this property unique
The house surrounds you in a warm and welcome feeling the moment you enter. It is warm in the winter with the Raeburn in the kitchen and is just as ideal for 2 persons but as comfortable for 6. The lovely large garden affords privacy and is stocked with beautiful mature camellias, it is a wonderful Cornish garden, with plenty of off road parking. It is very close to St. Anthony and Helford giving easy access to the Helford River. The coastal path is very close and allows wonderful walking around the area with sea views and lovely countryside in an AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY.
