the staff here don't speak English and EVERYTHING seems a chore. from ice to taxis...we seem to be interrupting them surfing the web! the pool is freezing cold and the sauna almost unusable due to the fact that they use the toilet to smoke. the aircon doesn't wasn't working for the whole week.

This hotel is 30m from exit D of SanYuanQiao underground station which in turn is 1 stop from the Beijing airport. Staff are occasionally grumpy with patchy english. Breakfast was slighly expensive at 100 RMB (though comprehensive) so we used the local Wagas 200m away. The local Element Fresh (220m next to Wagas) is also very good for lunch/dinner though a touch expensive

Excellent location. Hotel’s main entrance is facing D exit of the Airport Express. Just one stop from hotel to Terminal 3. Hotel also only 2 minutes away from the nearest shopping mall. Therefore, location wise is great. Lobby area ok. Standard staff service. Reasonable size room. Great pressure & temperature for the shower but shower door not sealed properly. Thus, would flood the toilet easily. Tiny TV and remote control not working. Carpet could do with a good clean.

4 star hotel with 3 star service

We stayed 3 times at the San Yuan Novotel over 3 adjacent weekends with 2 mid-week trips elsewhere in China between. The hotel entrance is perhaps 20 metres from the San Yuan Qiao subway entrance. This is only one stop from the airport, though a 30 minute trek to Tienanmen square. There is a shopping mall with many restaurants nearby. We liked the western style Element Fresh restaurant on the ground floor though it was a bit pricey. On the 1st stay, we tried the 100 RMB breakfast and found everything to be cold. It appears that was an aberration, because when we were forced to try their breakfast again, food was all reasonably warm. On our 2nd stay, we woke up at 3am with half an inch of water in the bathroom caused by the toilet overflowing. The staff stopped the toilet, cleared up most of the water and moved us to a new room fairly promptly. This year everyone seems to be supplementing their lack of English with a smart phone app to give quick translations. On our 3rd stay the makeup light in the bathroom didn't work. I reported it every morning at reception for 4 days, but despite their assurance it would be fixed, the bulb was still blown when we left.

Hotel not bad but terrible breakfast

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is less than 100m from the underground station and also close to a multi story shopping mall. The breakfast area and the range looked impressive but everything we eat was cold and tasteless. Only orange juice was good.

AWFUL tired hotel where very few speak any English

If you do not speak Chinese DO NOT book this hotel, 95%+ of the staff CAN NOT speak ANY English and take my word for it, it's just so so frustrating. The bedroom I had (executive) looks nothing like the pictures, neither does the restaurant all the pictures have been totally staged. The hotel desperately needs upgrading and for the price there are much better hotels avaliable. AVOID booking this hotel, save yourself the frustration

Convenient for subway and airport shuttle

I have stayed here twice now, and it's a good functional hotel. They need to improve the standard of English on reception. Also, they seem to have given all the keys to lockers in the fitness centre changeroom away!! So, you have to trust your clothes won't get stolen. For some reason my key stopped working in the morning, so I had no electricity/tv in the morning. They no longer keep drinks in the mini bar, you have to call roomservice.

Never again!

The hotel was ok but hardly anyone at the hotel speak English.everytime we're tried to call for room service we had to give up because no one would understand. And everytime we try to order a taxi the hotel seem to use only uber and always send us to the wrong place. I will never stay with this hotel again and I would like my money back. I had called hotels. Com to complain but that don't seem to do anything. Also the wifi was very bad.

Disappointing service and room condition

Disappointed overall. Reception staff are not in helping attitude at all and sometimes rude. They even start to chat in front of you about nothing rrgarding your requests. They even complaint about me decided to pay room telephone charges by card rather than cash when checking out! The room condition is very disappointing too - very cheap decoration lack of maintenance and repair. Mini bar is empty! Air con doesn't work properly. Great location especially for airport travelling.

Very well priced hotel ... Good location

This is a well specked hotel with nice rooms, reasonable gym and decent breakfast. Location was excellent as its next to the metro/ airport express. The price was amazing for BJ. On the downside, the staff are pleasent but getting anything done (checking in, getting a taxi, getting an iron) takes ages. There are some nice restaurants near by but overall the view of the 3rd ring road is a bit soulless

Sanyuanqiao subway front of the hotel

from first day to last everything was very good, to travel around Beijing for me and my partner was the subway, very cheap ( i would get a Beijing Transportation Smart Card, like an oyster card). Great wall of china was beautiful, shanghai, Xian (Terracotta Soldiers), (best way to get there and cheap Beijing south railway station - Line 4 to Shanghai, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Nanjing or West Railway Station - Line 9 to Wuhan, Xian, Guangzhou)

Business hotel, good for Airport / NE Beijing

I stayed for 2 nights on business. Good location - perfect for airport express train. Evening meal in restaurant was good / very good. Breakfast good food but a little chaotic - lack of bowls / spoons. Check-in / out, WIFI, / room / concierge all good standard.

stay overnight here not at airport

i am a regular in or through beijing. tried the novotel as alternative to staying near airport. quietest hotel i have ever been in. same price as airport hotels - easy, quick and cheap to get to on the airport express and good fast food or a supermarket in the Galleria is enough for one night's dinner. on line 10 of the metro for those wanting to stay a longer. could do long stay but is a bit restrictive for that.

Great hotel, well situated for business district.

Great hotel, frustrating restauraunt staff asked 15 times during breakfast for my room number many times by same staff. limited english language skills made for frustrating meal which was apparently simple arrive give room number and sign (Jon done you might think).. but after this to be asked to pay 14 more times spoilt the moment somewhat!

Great for airport

Hotel is fine, but not great price. Room is clean. Room is 3 star quality but price is to high. Location is good for subway and airport.
