About this property
VILLA IN TUSCANY BETWEEN SEA, MOUNTAINS, AND ART
Coach is the smallest of the apartments. It originally served as part of the family stables and carriage house. Now it has an ample room with a fireplace, a small kitchen, plus a bedroom with a large double bed and bathroom with washing machine. A private outside dining table.
Villa Maria Doria began in the 1500’s as a country farmhouse in the middle of a large olive grove located in a unique corner of Tuscany. It is both near to the Tyrrhenian Sea and close to the Appuan Alps.
The Villa offers five independent apartments each with private outside dining table.
We have refurbished and modernized the property and added a large swimming pool.
The small village of Pozzi where the Villa Maria Doria is located, sits in a privileged geographical position midway between the charming Apuan Alps and the Versilia riviera.
Pozzi is of considerable archaeological importance for remains of a Etruscan settlement, dating from 6th Century B.C., were found here and can be seen in the archaeological museum in Pietrasanta.
Also, during the Renaissance noble Florentine families, including the Medici, chose this area for their summer residence. Local historians think that the Villa Maria Doria was built around 500 years ago as that is the age of the olive trees that surround it.
Over the years the buildings have been re-structured to accommodate contemporary life-styles but bits of history can still be found on the existing buildings.
There are facilities for recreation and activity on the grounds itself, plus, in the surrounding area you will find world class shopping, restaurants offering traditional Tuscan cooking and beach life at Forte dei Marmi and the coast.
Within a short drive you will find major historical sights like: Pietrasanta, Carrara, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano and Volterra. Also available are sporting activities like golf, hiking, biking, and water sports. Vacation life is made easy because whatever you need can be found nearby.
