This wonderful, detached property is a stunning example of a Welsh long barn and sits within the Hafod Forestry Commission Estate, which occupies about 500 acres of the Ystwyth Valley. The estate was designed in the late 18th century and although the original mansion is gone, the historic walks network has been restored to allow you to enjoy this wonderful landscape.
The owners have lovingly restored this property and created something truly luxurious. It’s all on one level and so much detail has gone into it, from the fixtures and fittings to the lighting and soft furnishings. The large open plan living, dining and kitchen area leads directly to the large garden via bi-fold doors, out onto the decked terrace with a firepit and barbecue. The master bedroom has a handmade feature kingsize bed and a huge en-suite bathroom with double ended free standing bath, twin basins and a walk-in wetroom with special light effect to tell you when the water is warm! There are two further bedrooms, each with their own special lighting effects, the twin has a ‘cosmic’ ceiling and the kingsize bedroom has romantic, twinkly drapes around the bed. A ‘Jack and Jill’ family bathroom can be accessed from the kingsize bedroom or from the hallway and has an eye catching copper sink set within an oak barrel. There is also an additional cloakroom with toilet. Access to the property is via an unmade stone road which is unlit.
The views are amazing and you’ll probably while away many an hour watching the variety of visiting birds and often see red kites and buzzards circling overhead. From the doorstep of the barn, the estate can be explored on foot (there are five way-marked walks of varying length and difficulty), where there are streams, waterfalls and rustic bridges to discover. It provides an excellent base for exploring and taking part in activities such as canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding and walking, or just relaxing in a ‘get away from it all’ location.
Nearby attractions include Devils Bridge, first built by monks in the 11th century and from where you can take the Vale of Rheidol steam train that meanders through the valley to the seaside town of Aberystwyth, and the Silver Mountain Experience, an 18th-century silver-rich lead mine. A 30-minute drive will bring you to the attractive Ceredigion coastline with an array of beaches and coastal towns and villages. The Pendre Longbarn is a unique property in an idyllic spot so come and see for yourself! Beach 15 miles. Pub/restaurant is 4 miles away. Supermarkets are in Aberystwyth 12 miles away. Some guests like to pre order groceries to be delivered.

We had a wonderful time at the Longbarn. The house is beautiful, finished to a high standard and with some lovely finishing touches. Due to the poor weather, we decided not to use the hot tub, but I imagine this would be great to use on a clear evening under the stars.Location is what makes this the perfect stay, with multiple walks right from the door, and total peace and quiet.

This is our second time at this beautiful barn & it will not be our last.
This is our second time at this beautiful barn & it will not be our last. We so loved & enjoyed the outside garden area with amazing views & 'wildlife' & the lovely wood fire hot tub with a undercover area which is great when it rains. It will be great when the bbq area is finished to enjoy. The barn is beautifully designed & decorated with a cosy feel. Lovely Kitchen area. Could do with some outdoor items/ utensils/ cushions etc. The main bedroom has an amazing rain fall shower & big bath tub. There are Many beautiful scenic walks from the barn. Ideal holiday if you don't mind being isolated away from the rat race. There is no mobile signal but they do have a landline. Beautiful area.

Couldn’t fault the Pendre Longbarn it was exactly like the website pictures.
Couldn’t fault the Pendre Longbarn it was exactly like the website pictures. The drive up to the barn is very uneven which we were told about and is a single track and unlit. The surrounding area is of natural beauty with the river and water cascades on your doorstop although if you are disabled like I am access is by car. Watching the morning mists rise up through the acres of forestry is truly amazing from the barn and inside the underfloor heating was very welcomed along with the long burner. Nearest town is Aberystwyth about 20-30 min drive on some very windy roads. There are enough supermarkets and local shops to please everyone as well as a pebbled beach and pier. We had Christmas lunch at the Hafod Hotel the food was excellent all round and is well worth a visit. Would recommend Pendre Longbarn as a good all round base to get away from it all with all the mod cons that you need.

We had a lovely time at Pendre Longbarn.
We had a lovely time at Pendre Longbarn. It's out of the way, which suited us very well for a quiet holiday, but bear that in mind if you like to be close to amenities. Also, bear in mind that the area holds a lot of flies - three cans of fly spray and some fly papers were needed to get them under control. Fantastic local walks and scenery - the dog loved it.
Some of the furnishings are a little eccentric - e.g the beds are very tall. I'm 6 ft tall and sitting on the bed my feet were not on the ground, but no problems and very comfortable.
