Enjoy this special vacation home among the Torrey Pines in Olde Del Mar with ocean and canyon views, close to all, however with privacy and serenity. This beautifully furnished home accommodates 6 with 1 king sized bed, and 1 queen sized bed and two long twin beds. The open beam wood paneled living room offers a cozy oversized wood burning fireplace and opens to the wide veranda overlooking Crest Canyon and the easterly views of the mountains. There are 3 HD TV's one in the living room, one in the master bedroom, and one in the kitchen. The kitchen also features its own wood burning fireplace and is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, flatware, serving dishes, and all entertaining necessities. Take a moment to enjoy the ambience of one of the three patios with the sound of the birds, fountains and waterfall from the pond. The spacious property also includes a very private outdoor shower, and outdoor barbeque, access to hiking trails in Crest Canyon, many great restaurants and abundant stores for shopping. There is plenty of private parking on the property for guests. The Del Mar Beach and Seagrove Park are within walking distance or just a short drive if preferred. It's truly a (re)treat to stay in this home. A Magical Place!

The owner will require guest to sign the included Short Term Rental Agreement and Rental Rules and Addendums and provide a valid drivers license in order to gain occupancy to the property.

This is a wonderful property, a true garden oasis. Perfect for a visit to Del Mar. Walkable to downtown restaurants and the beach if you are up for a hilly return trip. Beautiful back country views of Crest Canyon and beyond. The house is well maintained and stocked with everything you need for the beach trips, etc.

Another great stay

This was my family’s third summer staying at Don’s house in Del Mar. you can’t beat the location and the house is a great setup for both my kids (7 and 10) as well as having a nice office area if you are working remote. Don is a great host that is responsive, checks in to make sure everything is going smooth and an overall nice guy. We hope to be back for a fourth summer next year!

Great house in Del Mar

This was our first time staying in Del Mar and we absolutely loved it. Overall our stay was great. The location of this place is impecable and the house is super comfortable, we had everything we needed. Don, the owner, is very accesible. We had a few minor hiccups regarding cleanliness and access to some of the listed amenities, but nothing serious, we truly enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend staying here.

My wife and I loved the house and location and especially the multiple outdoor sitting areas and the view from the back.. Depending on how you count there are 7 sitting areasor so! Don was very engaging and emailed to check on us a couple of times. We will stay again next time in San Diego.

Perfect Getaway Home

The pictures do not do justice to this perfect home. Originally we were to be 2 couples, but last minute changes resulted in just one couple. The directions were perfect, arriving on a winding, 15mph road to the home looking out over Crest Canyon. The entire home was spotless and reflected the loving care of Don & Susan. A few minor questions were immediately handled with a quick call to Don. As mentioned in the VRBO description, there is no A/C; however, the wonderful breezes made A/C completely unnecessary. Our master bed, a king, was comfortable and provided for great sleep. One pillow was a bit large but a replacement was available in the closet. Water pressure in the shower was fine, as was the quick availability of hot water. We ate our meals out so did not use the kitchen. As people who like to cook, the appliances, including an induction range, appeared to be top notch. The living room proved to be very comfortable for watching TV or just relaxing. That having been said, we spent most of our time on the patio overlooking the canyon. We loved the quiet and the beauty below. We did not use any of the trails into the canyon, but did see people doing so. We used the large office quite often and the internet proved to be just fine for our needs. We are sorry to leave after such a short stay but certainly plan to return. What a beautiful home!

Not so peaceful!

Online description not accurate: First time at Del Mar. Love the town not so much the property we stayed at. Landscaping is beautiful! View from the back of the home stunning; however, with the interstate bustling 24/7, not so peaceful. Neither is a big and loud barking dog to the north of the home. Ironically, we had to sign off that our dog would not disturb the neighbors, as we would be cited. Also, lots of ongoing construction one block north of the property. Not very peaceful with construction vehicles and personnel working all week long and on Saturday. The homes being worked on are amazing, but not a place to vacation if you are trying to leave a big city for R&R. The home needs TLC. The musty smell of the home was overwhelming and when I informed the owner he played the "I don't know card." The smell improved somewhat with windows, doors and fans, but still intrusive to the olfactory nerves. Finally, the spa, hot tub, was empty when we arrived. Don was abrupt and abrasive in communication when I insisted that the hot tub be filled, stating that "it broke that morning" and "it would take 2-3 weeks to get a repair person" When the latter was not on option for my family, he got his gardener/ handyman to come the next day and miraculously it worked. The spa was a highlight for my family and very peaceful. Thanks Don! Giving three stars because of the memories, not for the not-so-peaceful stay at Casa In-Stone.

Gorgeous Property

We spent two weeks at this home while our floors were done at our house in LA and it was an absolute pleasure. The wrap around outdoor spaces and sitting areas and the views were delightful. The home itself is cozy and breezy with many windows to draw in the ocean air. Each bedroom was extremely comfortable with high quality linens and good pillows. We could have happily stayed for a full month. The town itself is adorable and the beach is a short drive or a longer walk from the house. Great vibe at the house and you can feel how loved it is. The property manager was very responsive as was Don the owner. We would 100 percent stay here again. This place is a gem.

Perfect Del Mar Getaway

This home is wonderful! Private but walking distance to the town and beach. Beautiful inside and out and very comfortable. We loved that there were several indoor and outdoor living spaces so we could all have private time if we wanted it and plenty of big tables to all gather around when we wanted that! Perfect Del Mar getaway

This is a charming house in the Del Mar hills. It’s a short distance to Powerhouse beach and downtown. The house has great outdoor spaces for reading and relaxing and is about as perfect as you could hope for.

Felt Privileged to be allowed to rent this beautiful property

Dear Don, The house is gorgeous. I love the floors! The grounds are enchanting. I was ‘sold’ when their was a sculpture of “Doc” from the Seven Drawfs part of Don’s magical waterfall. It reminded me of my childhood when my father worked for Walt Disney Studios. My husband had been asked to write a musical a few weeks previous to this trip. He found the house had great acoustics in the kitchen and office that he could record on his i-pad. The setting was so tranquil he got the whole project finished and in the mail. This trip was about my coming back to where I went to high school, (first graduating class of Torrey Pines), and college, (UCSD), 45 years later and giving hugs to those I love. I wanted to take the grandkids, ages 2 and 5, to a warm water beach with an endless sand box and let the ocean water wash over their toes. This is the best memory a grandmother could wish for. I even got in the water for a litte boogie boarding my self! The kids loved the corner of toys in the living room Don specificly left out for them. A wooden Brio train track they set up in the office. Daughter, age 5, read through most of the children’s books. And the basket of duplos became many an imaginary game. The layout of the house is impressive. Warm large living room with leather sofa ideal for a long chat with an old friends. Screen doors everywhere to let the fresh air fill the house. Also many decks, views, places outside to enjoy the ocean breeze. The size of the house was perfect for taking my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren on a vacation where they could walk on my favorite beach and feel that soft sand between the toes. I’d definitely recommend this property to others and we’d feel blessed to stay there ourselves a second time in the future.

Love this town and location because it is so close to just about every activity imaginable. Perfect year around weather, beaches, mountains, hiking, biking, skiing at Big Bear and Snow Summit only two hours away. I can be in Mexico in less than an hour and a half. Mission Bay for boating, biking and water skiing. San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and Balboa Park within half an hour. Big Bear Lake, Lake Hodges, Lake Elsinore all within a short drive. I love that there is always someplace to go and places to see.
