Lovely cottage stay

Our family, including two boys aged 9 and 12, had a great time in this lovely cottage. There is easy access to local destinations including Bemish, Durham and beyond. We stayed for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Exquisite

Beautiful cottage - ultra clean and super cosy! We loved our stay which allowed us easy access to Beamish and Northumberland, allowing us to visit the Farne Islands, Holy Islands, Alnwick, Bamburgh and more. The stables and horses were gorgeous and oh my the views are to die for!! Highly recommend.

Great cottage

Really well appointment cottage. Very comfortable, especially the beds, and very close to local attractions. Beamish museum, Seaton Delaval and Whitley Bay are very close and it’s convenient for visiting Kynren. We especially appreciated how much was provided in the kitchen, including a large supply of things we’ve had to pack for ourselves in other cottages, like dishwasher tablets. The cake and fresh milk for tea was lovely.

Sorry to hear you had problems with the shower head it was only replaced recently. The upstairs door just needs a pull and it does click in to place. It also has a lock. I’ll show you next time you visit! I will also replace the garden furniture 😄 Look forward to seeing you again. Amanda

Lovely cottage with great host

Great cottage and Amanda was very accommodating - even allowing us a very early check in and letting our dogs stay for a few hours (even though the cottage does not allow dogs) . The property was clean and immaculately decorated. It had everything we needed to cook and more. The beds were very comfortable. I would highly recommend as a place to stay while in the North East. Thank you Amanda .

Great location next to working stables

Mole Hill Farm Cottage is in a lovely countryside location and easy to get to from the A1. Amanda and Harry were communicative hosts - we had a problem with the WiFi not working when we arrived but it was all sorted out very quickly. It was great to see the horses coming and going at the stables on the site, a lovely atmosphere. The cottage is also walking distance (about an hour) from the Beamish Living Museum - through the woods and across the golf course!

Property and location was great. Zero communication from owner.

Property was great but owner failed to make contact with us for the whole stay. All we received was a complaint from a fairly aggressive guy we presume was the main property owner as our kids were playing near the Horse barns.

It is generally the case that guests who stay in our lovely cottage treat it with respect during their stay. There are unfortunately a few exceptions. The cottage was left in an appealing state which resulted in your deposit being withheld. In answer to your review, it was unacceptable and dangerous for children to play football up against the stable doors with horses inside.

Cottage near Stanley

I didn’t meet Amanda but she was at the cottage when my friends arrived and gave them some local information about shops and restaurants. The cottage was clean, and had everything we needed. The floor in the upstairs bedroom was very creaky which disturbed our friends sleeping downstairs when we got out of bed at night. The door between the sitting area and the upstairs bedroom seemed to have warped and the catches didn’t engage. Any slight breeze caused it to move and bang at night which was disturbing. The same door could blow open and there was no barrier between the bedroom and the en-suite bathroom, which has no door, meaning that guests sitting watching the television could be in the same continuous space as those using the bathroom.

Hi Norman I’m sorry you found the floor’s disturbing during the night. Sorry also you had problems closing the door to the bedroom. It does actually close and it also has a key to lock it I could have helped you if you had made me aware you were having difficulty. Hoping you enjoyed your holiday otherwise. Amanda

BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY / CONVENIENT LOCATION

I stayed at Molehill Farm for 5 nights with my husband and another couple. The property was everything we could have hoped for. It sits in open pasture land with beautiful views across County Durham, but is a short walk or drive away from Stanley which is well equipped with shops and good restaurants aplenty. It is also close to Beamish Open Air Museum and many other sites and is just a short distance from Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland. The accommodation is first rate, tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and equipped with everything anyone could need for any length of stay. The kitchen/dining area was extremely well equipped, with cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher, full sink, fridge/freezers, clothes washing and drying facilities and enough room to properly prepare and enjoy full family meals. The bedrooms were beautiful, comfortable and extremely spacious both with bright, roomy, modern ensuite facilities. The owner was available close by to answer any questions but that was completely unnecessary as everything had been thought of already. I only wish we could have stayed longer. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Excellent property in a beautiful location

The property had everything we needed. It was exceptionally clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The electric gate made us feel very secure. The setting is beautiful yet very convenient with easy road access to many places of interest. The only change we would like to see is a door fitted to the upstairs bathroom. We appreciate that this could be difficult with the archway, but any means to achieve privacy would be preferable, even a curtain. Many thanks to Amanda for an excellent holiday,

Lovely short break

My friend and I had a lovely few days visit. The cottage was easy to find and was clean, spacious, comfy and had all that you could need. Yes, the floorboards upstairs creaked but that just added to the charm! We liked that we had a bedroom and bathroom each and the cake on arrival was a lovely touch (and delicious). A great stay!

Great location

The location of this property was perfect for exploring the area both very locally (woodland walk from the property itself/Causey Arch) and further afield (Durham, Farne Island etc). Cake on arrival was a nice touch and visit from Amanda too. The accommodation had everything we needed and was well presented with lots of homely touches. One shower wasn't working but we were told of this on arrival and repairs happened quickly one day when we were out. The wooden floors do creak a lot, so upstairs bedroom occupants had to creep around at night to avoid complaints from downstairs bedroom occupants! The cottage was a bit less private than we'd thought (car park outside in use in daytime by visitors to stables right next to cottage) so we didn't use the table and chairs shown in the picture - but in fairness the property description does mention the adjoining stables, so we weren't misled, and we weren't bothered by this as we were using the cottage as a base for seeing the area/not weather for sitting outside anyway! Overall we were very happy with our stay - thank you!

Relaxation at its best.

A beautiful property in a beautiful location. Met by Amanda the owner who informed us on things to know. Was also obliging on giving further information during our stay when we wanted to know something. She also had an amazing fire lit for our arrival. A lovely welcoming cake on the table. We went for total relaxation and that is what we got. We would most definitely go again and would recommend this place to everyone.
