Charming vacation rental with a hot tub near the Cathar Castles

La Maison de Prunelle is the former supermarket of the seventeenth century village located at the foot of the Cathar castles. It is perfectly located to give you the opportunity to explore all the treasures of the Aude department and spend a relaxing holiday in a very small village in the south of France. You will find calm and authenticity. The cottage lends itself perfectly to romantic weekends with Jacuzzi, family holidays with enclosed garden, hiking and Cathar castles, quiet teleworking with wi-fi. Located at the foot of the Cathar Castles, 12 minutes from Mirepoix or Chalabre, 35 minutes from the City of Carcassonne but also 15 minutes from the lakes of Montbel or Puivert for swimming and water activities.

Because holidays are for the whole family so the rental includes, the cleaning of the house on your departure, the supply of sheets, towels, household linen but also the beds made on arrival.

The Maison de Prunelle is the former supermarket of the village of the seventeenth century completely restored while combining the charm of the old and the modern. We wanted to preserve the charm of the old by keeping the bread oven, the wine vats, the stone walls, the stone sink, the tiles of yesteryear etc.... . On the modern side, the kitchen benefits from all the comforts (induction hob, hood, oven, etc...) and accessories.

The cottage includes a covered terrace of 40m2 with a barbecue, a plancha, a Jacuzzi and a fenced garden of 200m2 so that children can play in peace.

The surface area of this cottage is about 100m² for 2 to 6 people in Courtauly 11230 in the quercorb.

Quirky, full of character and well equipped

Marc has renovated the property so that there’s a washing machine, dishwasher and plenty of hot water for the shower. But it’s still highly original with stone and wood stairs and features such as an amazing old stone sink in the kitchen. The garden is private and it was lovely sitting out in the roofed area which protected us from both the sun and rain! Thank you to Alain who provided a warm welcome when we arrived. We loved the area. The house is located midway between Limoux for wine tasting and Mirepoix for the fabulous Monday market. We also went to Carcassonne which we thought was a bit too ‘Disney ‘. We much preferred Montsegur and Peyrepertuse A highlight was walking up St Barthelemy. An interesting house to stay in and a lovely area with lots to see and do

Location agréable et au calme. La maison est très fraîche, ce qui est très agréable en été. Le patio permet de manger dehors quelque soit le temps. Marc a été très réactif, ce que nous avons beaucoup apprécié.

Séjour à la campagne

Séjour dans un petit village où les gens sont accueillants. Maison magnifique, on a l’impression de revenir dans la maison de nos grands-parents. Calme et apaisant, séjour idéal pour se déconnecter de la folie des grandes villes.

Au calme

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié cette maison pleine de charme à la décoration très soignée. Elle est très bien équipée et reste fraiche. Même le préau préserve des fortes chaleurs. Nous avons profité des jeux de société lors des heures les plus chaudes (joie de redécouvrir le Monopoly et Docteur Maboul !...)

voor eeuwig in ons hart

Marc en zijn vader hebben dit karaktervolle huis in een eeuwenoud dorp aan de voet van de Pyreneeën van de ondergang gered. Met veel liefde en met een verbazingwekkend oog voor detail hebben ze het omgetoverd tot een sfeervolle woning, waar het leven van vroeger doorheen schemert maar waar alles gericht is op gezelligheid en sfeer. Er is geen hoekje of er werd over nagedacht bij het restaureren. Overal vind je gezellig plaatsjes met authentieke voorwerpen. Het is gewoonweg wonderbaarlijk hoe dit huis weer tot leven is gekomen. We hebben ons vaak de bedenking gemaakt dat dit een werk van pure liefde is. We hebben dan ook enkele heerlijke weken doorgebracht in dit huis vol verhalen, meer nog, we hebben ons verblijf zelfs verlengd! In het dorp wonen er vriendelijke mensen, die spontaan een praatje beginnen. Het zijn veelal oudere mensen, en het is niet altijd makkelijk om hen te verstaan. Maar dat draagt bij aan de sfeer, en vriendelijkheid kent geen taal. Kortom: Courtauly en dit huis staan voor eeuwig in ons hart gegrift.

Dépaysement et calme assuré

5 jours passés trop vite. L’accueil d’Alain parfait... décontracté, il vous met à l’aise d’emblée et vous fait découvrir cette vielle bâtisse pleine de charme. L’endroit se veut rustique au bon sens du terme mais il ne manque absolument rien. Petits déjeuners et dîners pris tous les soirs sous l’auvent de la cour intérieure; il y fait bon et on y prolonge la soirée avec un verre de vin blanc bien frais jusqu’à ce que les heures de randonnées de la journée vous rappellent qu’il est temps d’aller dormir. La grande chambre est très agréable, la literie est bonne. La salle de douche attenante est également bien agréable . Les villes alentour méritent une visite: Mirepoix et son marché du lundi à ne pas manquer, Limoux, Fonjeaux.... Bref séjour 5 étoiles!!!!

Petite maison pleine de charme

Bien placé pour visiter la région, la maison a le charme d’une maison d’époque, mais avec le confort nécessaire. La mezzanine est un peu trop basse pour des adultes, mais correspond parfaitement pour des enfants entre 5 et 10-11 ans. Bien plus agréable qu’une chambre d’hôtel dans le contexte du couvre-feu. A cottage with character

This old stone cottage in a small village is a gem; comfortable, well furnished, and in a beautiful area. Local information from Marc and a greeting and orientation from Alain were both excellent. We ventured in a different direction each day and particularly enjoyed Mirepoix and its restaurants and Monday market. Special thanks to Alain.

Maison au calme, très jolie et beaucoup de visites à faire dans le coin

Nous avons été très bien accueillis par Alain. marc le propriétaire est aussi très disponible. La maison est parfaite pour 6. Elle est très bien équipée : wifi, lave linge, lave vaisselle... nous sommes ravis de notre séjour.

Maison agréable à vivre et reposante

La maison, récemment rénovée, a du cachet et répond aux besoins d’un séjour reposant dans un village comptant très peu d’habitants. L’environnement est propice à des balades et à la visite des châteaux cathares situés dans un périmètre restreint. Très bon accueil par le propriétaire qui reste à l'écoute.

Awesome experience

Disfrutar de la sencillez y el buen gusto de esta bonita casa, con todo lo necesario y sólo lo imprescindible. Estuvimos alojados esta semana santa, un punto de partida muy completo. La buhardilla para las niñas, inmejorable y nos quedamos con las ganas de.aprovechar más la terraza y la barbacoa. Aunque el pueblo no tiene servicios, se puede llegar en 20 minutos a todo lo necesario y se pueden hacer muchas visitas interesantes. En definitiva, una experiencia muy recomendable.

Charming house in a beautiful location

We spent a week with our children in this lovingly restored house, which feels more like a home than a holiday rental. The owner, Marc, was incredibly helpful, sending us lots of information about the area before we arrived, and we were given a warm welcome by the keyholder, Alain (who speaks excellent English). Many long evenings were spent outside on the terrace watching swallows and house martins, and we especially enjoyed visiting the local towns of Mirepoix and Limoux, exploring the many châteaux in the area and bathing in nearby lakes. A most memorable holiday - thank you!

Really relaxed four days in the sun!

My husband and I had spent some time in the area a few years ago and loved it and so got drawn back. We couldn't have been happier to come back with two of our children, visiting the market town of Mirepoix is a treat, bicyling and walking in the beautiful surroundings was heavenly. Alain and Marc's father were both very helpful when something was needed and we loved the atmosphere of the house. We would come back again! Thank you. Camilla

Nous avons passés nos fêtes de Noël en famille. Ce fut un très beau séjour dans une maison très soignée accueillante et décorée avec goût. Nous avons adorés et nous y reviendrons ! Tout y est pour se sentir comme à la maison. Le village et les voisins sont super sympas et les ballades merveilleuses. très bel accueil

Un gite chaleureux, rénové avec beaucoup de goût. Une mention spéciale pour la chambre sous les toits que nos filles ont tout de suite adopté dès notre arrivée. La proximité de magnifiques sites, des balades et des randos pour petits et grands marcheurs, la grande disponibilité et gentillesse de nos hôtes: un très bon cocktail qui nous a permis de passer un très bon séjour en famille, merci encore....

Ah les belles vacances!

Oui, nous avons passé de belles vacances à Courtauly dans cette belle demeure de caractère . La maison est spacieuse, rénovée avec goût et confortable. Il était agréable de se prélasser dans le petit jardin au soleil ou de diner le soir sous l'auvent autour d'une bonne bouteille de Malepère après une randonnée ou une visite dans une région si diverse. Malgré son emplacement au centre du (si petit...) village, l'endroit est calme et reposant. Nous conseillons vivement à tous d'y séjourner en couple, en famille ou entre amis afin de se ressourcer, de profiter de la nature ou , entre l'Aude et l'Arège, le Razès et les Corbières, de visiter une région vraiment envoûtante. Surtout, faites un tour aux "papillons d'Amarante" au col del Teil vers Lavelanet, cela vaut le détour!!; mais il y a plein d'autres lieux à découvrir entre châteaux, villages, musées, lacs,sentiers vivifiant, endroits mystérieux...
