About the host
Hosted by Wayne Harris and Rachel Taylor

Wayne was a teacher for 25 years but now runs a holiday property and is Dad to teenager Henry. Wife Rachel runs the local community magazines so knows all the local restaurants and what's on info. Son Henry is 15 and loves martial arts!
Why they chose this property
Stylish, modern but with features of the barn retained, totally renovated in 2014. We love the area and live in the area ourselves. Away from the hustle and bustle of modern life but so easy to get around. The barn is tucked down a little country lane but in only 10 minutes you can reach the M62 and can easily be in Leeds, Manchester, York etc. Hebden Bridge is just 30 mins and Haworth (Bronte sisters) is 45 minutes drive away. The Peak District is a 90 minute drive to the South. It's the best of all worlds! Explore the city by day and return to the peaceful haven of the barn in the evening.
What makes this property unique
Set in rolling hills with far reaching views, the barn was built in 1855 and converted in 2000. It is very spacious, over twice the size of many 2 bedded holiday cottages with a large private garden. Quirky architecture in how the barn entrance has been retained and incorporated into the huge front and velux windows meaning the living area is full of light.
You can drive or take the train to Leeds and Manchester in under an hour from Slaithwaite station whilst local areas of Calderdale and Kirklees have many buildings, parks and cultural points of interest. Set in area that 'Gentleman Jack' lived and where Happy Valley was filmed. A 5 mile / 15 min drive away is the Piece Hall ('Italian Piazza? no Halifax!' Daily Mail Sep 19) with big name concerts each summer - in 2025 there is Gary Barlow, The Corrs, Rag n Bone Man, Busted, Texas, Travis, the Saw Doctors plus others! Within a 15 - 20 minutes drive (5-6 miles) there are over 20 pubs and restaurants to choose from.
