As a fan of Lewis Grassic Gibbon, this place was perfect.

As a fan of Lewis Grassic Gibbon, this place was perfect. So much more to see - Air museums, farm shops, beaches, and Montrose Basin with its wildlife (a photographer joined us in a hide, who supplied photos to the wildlife organisation and showed us some of his wonderful photos)! Friendly people, too.

Lovely location sitting up on a hill from nearby Inverbervie.

Lovely location sitting up on a hill from nearby Inverbervie. The view from the end of the driveway down to the coast is wonderful. The cottage is well equipped with cooking utensils, washing machine, dishwasher (with tablets in cupboard), microwave and cooker etc. There was milk in the fridge, some tea/coffee for an arrival cuppa and a packet of shortbread. The three bedrooms were comfortable, the upstairs bathroom looked a bit tired but was perfectly functional. It was warm and cosy. Converted from the former school there is plenty of character with high ceilings and large multi-pane windows. Very peaceful location. The Grassic Gibbon centre is next door. The historic St Ternan's church is a short walk away (the final resting place of several of my ancestors) with the memorial to Lewis Grassic Gibbon. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, there are many fabulous beaches to explore and plenty interesting and historical places to visit.
