Our Ithaca Home & Garden is a gracious, classically-detailed home with wonderful spaces to celebrate special occasions both indoors and out! Professionally cleaned to help you be safe. The unit is wheel-chair manageable with spacious rooms, hallway and wheel-in shower. Ask us about using the lovely garden to hold a small outdoor BBQ reception or a fun marshmallow roast at the fire pit. The entire downstairs unit is for your use. It has a private front and back door, as well as French Doors opening to the private formal terrace and garden. Behind the garage is the outdoor dining area with a gas grill, and further back is a sitting area with a fire pit. We want you to enjoy it all! Guests may enjoy and use the entire back yard. Tenants and guests upstairs in the house (who have their own private entry and outdoor deck) may request to use the dining area and the fire pit, but priority always goes to our downstairs guests. We live nearby and we enjoy meeting our guests! We also respect your privacy and will be available as needed. Walk to the Farmer's Market, to nearby eateries, coffee shops, and Ithaca Falls. Hike up Cascadilla Creek Trail to Cornell. Or, ride a Lime Bike on the nearby waterfront trail. Walk, ride or bike. This location is close enough to walk to everything! Bus transport to Cornell and IC is available one block away. Rental Bikes are available at Bicycle Shops and at the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Get out and peddle! This is a lovely space indoors and out, with lots of grace--please enjoy it!

Ithaca
Located in Ithaca, this holiday home is in the city centre. Shoppers can check out Ithaca Commons, while everyone can enjoy the natural beauty of Buttermilk Falls State Park and Cayuga Lake. Looking to enjoy an event or a game while in town? See what's going on at Newman Arena, or consider a night out at Dutch Harvest Farm. Take in the nearby slopes with cross-country skiing, or try out other outdoor activities such as ice skating and sledging.
This home is one of the best places we have stayed. Convent to Ithaca college and local restaurants, bakery, and Ice cream shop. The home was exceptionally clean, relaxing, comfortable, and furnished with everything you need to make the our stay enjoyable with quality appliances and furnishingsWe would absolutely stay here again.
House is great for sharing conversation with an abundance of space and seating in family room and dining area. Kitchen and supplies plentiful. Very clean. Beds are comfortable. Host very responsive.
Fabulous weekend with extended family at comfortable and convenient properry
Loved every minute of it. Thank-you for all the little touches. Porperty was clean, nicely appointed and very comfortable for us to visit and watch my son play hockey at Cornell. Kitchen was well stocked to enjoy Sunday brunch and beds were comfortable for all of us.
The property is on a quiet street. Great location that is close to town. The owners have thought of everything to make the house clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thanks for making it easy and so pleasant!
Plenty of space. 2 large bedrooms. Everything you could think of needing was provided. Great outdoor area. Located in a very nice and walkable part of town. We all enjoyed our stay and would book again!
Oh my goodness! This house!! As soon as you walk in your soak up the beauty of this home. Everything was spic and span. The living room and dining room were the perfect place to visit and play cards. The kitchen had everything you needed...even an electric tea kettle! The beds were very comfortable. We had a neighborhood kitty visit us in the morning while enjoying coffee on the back porch. Very convenient to shopping, cafes and all those beautiful waterfalls. We've stayed in quite a few homes over the years and this one was by far THE BEST!
What a lovely apartment! I was blown away by how nicely it is decorated and laid out. Only on the last day did I discover that the building had been an Italian market back in the 1920s or so. Very nicely rehabbed into a spacious 2 bedroom place.
The main living dining area is especially nice, with a large dining table, sofa, two comfortable arm chairs, etc. It looks out on a beautiful garden, which I wish I could have used, but for the almost-perpetual rain during my stay.
I found two great coffee shops nearby - Botanist (1201 N. Tioga) and Gimme! Coffee at 430 N. Cayuga, which was only about a 10 minute walk. I heartily recommend Taverna Banfi at the Statler Hotel on Cornell's campus for upscale dinner. I wish I could have spent more time to explore the dining scene!
There's so much to see within an hour or so of Ithaca: the Women's Rights National Historic Park and the "It's a Wonderful Life" (movie) Museum, both in Seneca Falls. At least five waterfalls which are all quite different (hiked to see those on an earlier trip), the Cornell Lab of Ornithology (birds) are nearby, and the fantastic Corning Museum of Glass. Ithaca is a great place as a base for a week-long exploration of that area of New York State.
Looking forward to returning and spending more time!
We stayed for almost a week and felt right at home! The house was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was a plus. The neighborhood is very quiet and within walking distance to restaurants, the farmers market, and the Commons. We would definitely stay again if we return to Ithaca!
This VRBO is beautiful. Well appointed and cared for throughout. Neighborhood is quiet. Host was very responsive (and personable.) We're very happy we stayed here. You won't be disappointed if you choose this VRBO.
My family so enjoyed staying here for my 20th college reunion. The house was comfortable, well-appointed and well cared for. The garden is gorgeous. Thank you so much for having us.
We came to see our daughter graduate from law school at Cornell and this home was absolutely perfect!! House was just beautiful gardens were lovely (so bummed it rained so we didn’t get to make use of the yard) Would absolutely stay here again!
We had an excellent stay. The property is very central and we were able to walk everywhere. All rooms have generous proportions and are very tastefully decorated. The bathrooms and kitchen were well equipped. It really felt like we were staying in someone's house. We loved it!
We enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful. Beds were very comfortable and the home was well furnished with everything we needed. I would highly recommend

About the host
Hosted by Ann and Chad Hoover
We have been caring for this property since 2001 when Chad's Dad, Charles, moved to Ithaca to be near us and his grandchildren.
Why they chose this property
"Grandpa" chose this property because we live nearby. AND, it was for sale!
The corner double lot and roomy house needed a lot of work. Chad went to work to design a home where his Dad could age-in-place. The apartment is mobility-friendly with wide hall ways and doors. The entire apartment was designed to be ADA adaptable. A ramp in the garage services a wheel chair to the back porch and in through the back door. Charles used a walker and later a scooter; however, grab bars were never installed in the bathroom.
What makes this property unique
We love this space and the connection between the house and garden! We worked together to design and create a garden to be enjoyed and used. One of our daughters was married in the garden and another held her rehearsal dinner there. We look forward to living here when we retire!
