Veneto, the hidden village:
Veneto is a beautiful traditional mountain village 320 meters high, drowned in dense vegetation of oak, plane trees and chestnut trees. It is located southeast of Keramidi and north of Zagora, hidden in a dense forest.
The history of the village is very old and, as the findings show, extends to pre-Christian times. The newer village, however, must have been built in the years of Ottoman domination, perhaps from the flames of the great monastery of Flaumouri.
The village stretches its sparse neighborhoods on a relatively large stretch of the mountain slope, offering a splendid view of the sea.
The paths previously linked to Veneto with the other villages of Pelion and Volos, today are proposed for hiking tours following the old cobbled cobblestone streets.
It is worth seeing the church of Ypapanti of Christ (built in 1767), which has one of the best wooden carved icons of Pelion and wander in its green countryside.
In the village there are taverns that, as soon as they approach the summer, fill more and more patrons, natives and foreigners. Weather excursion boats start from Agiokampos to make daily excursions to the rugged coasts of northern Pelion, the seaside caves and the hidden beaches that stretch between Horefto and Kamari.
