Little Slice of Heaven
The apartment was just the perfect place for tucking away from the crowds of Amalfi and other coastal towns. We appreciated it's cleanliness, simplicity and shower's water pressure and abundance of hot water. We also weren't expecting much of the bed and found the firm mattress to be best for a good nights rest.
Views were super sweet and we evening dined one night on the terrace.
The location did give us a mini leg work out with all the steps, but they were so worth the peaceful location.
The only issue with the checkin process is if you don't have access to a phone it would challenging. They had to know exactly when we would be arriving in order to meet us at the location. We did appreciated the hosts' communication and their ability to text back and forth either on WhatsApp or iPhone messages.
The only unfortunate part of our stay at this location was the transportation. At least in September the bus to and from the main hub city of Amalfi were more limited than expected. They didn't run in the early mornings, I think 7:30 was the earliest to get down from Ravello to Amalfi. And they stopped around 9pm. This meant eating dinner anywhere else but in Ravello and walking home required a taxi. Or if we wanted to stay later in a nearby town we couldn't otherwise we had to pay for an expensive taxi. The taxi's had exorbitant fares because they know you are stuck otherwise. For example, the bus tickets between Ravello and Amalfi cost approximately $1.50 and we had to pay 50 Euro ($50) to get from from Ravello to Amalfi at 7am, also the same cost for a trip after 9pm Amalfi to Ravello. Other nights when the last bus was too crowded to fit everyone waiting in Ravello to go back down to Amalfi asking for $60 a trip. Even a five minute taxi from La Scala (small town over) to Ravello we were charged 30 Euro ($30) for a five minute drive around 11pm after a late dinner. This certainly not the rental property's fault, but the cities of Ravello and Amalfi. You just need to be aware of the potential issue if choosing to stay at this location or city of Ravello.
I highly recommend this rental. Just keep in mind that getting around might be a little more challenging and costly, if you are visiting in an off season or off hours. Possibly even during high season, not sure. I would suggest asking for a bus schedule for the time period you are planning to stay in Ravello.
Grazie Rossella and Daniela!
