Wonderful week in Wickford

This is the perfect place for a fun week in Rhode Island! Wickford is charming, close to Newport and great beaches, 30 minutes from Providence and 20 minutes from the airport. This house is very clean and modern, while maintaining the historic feel of a colonial home. It is in a neighborhood surrounded by lovely colonial homes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return some day.

Outstanding June Vacation

This is my third summer that I have stayed at this beautiful Wickford home and being a part of the village makes it very special. Walking to town to visit shops and restaurants is both relaxing and convenient. This year I visited the Beavertail museum in Jamestown and learned a wealth of lighthouse history. I do enjoy the nearby North Kingstown beach for swimming and birdwatching. Thank you so much Ross for sharing your lovely home once again and looking forward to returning in September.

Beautiful home in a perfect village location

Lovely historic home with exactly the right modern interior updates. Loved the roof deck with peeks of the harbor! The house is exactly as charming as the photos show. Just a few blocks to walk to the center of Wickford Village and short drive to beaches. Wickford is our favorite place in Rhode Island but Jamestown, Newport, Narragansett and Providence are all within easy reach. We loved using the kayak for two and exploring the coves nearby. Appreciated how responsive Ross when we had any questions.

Lovely summer vacation in Wickford

Ross thank you again for sharing your amazing home in Wickford Village.. This was my third visit and each time I find it more special for this Rhode Island girl to return home. Location is outstanding to restaurants, shops and bakery/ cafe. I purchased a non resident beach car pass at the town hall this year and the convenience of driving to the nearby beach was absolutely a plus. The rooftop deck was quite pleasant for reading and watching the boats in the harbor. My daughter loved the contemporary furnishings with the historic home features. Hopeful to return next summer once again.

Lovely late summer vacation

I just returned from spending a week at Ross’s beautiful Wickford home. I visit twice each year and I always enjoy so many special experiences each time. This visit I took the commuter train at Wickford Junction to visit my daughter in Boston. What a gem this station is so close to the house. I do enjoy early mornings and late afternoons at the nearby North Kingstown beach. Walk to Gardner’s Wharf Seafood for delicious take out. The village Main Street and neighborhood walks provide all nearby dining and shops. The John H. Chafe Nature Preserve just a few miles north was a pleasant forest beach trail walk. I am a RI girl and will look forward to my return next summer.

Perfect Blend of Historical & Modern

Property is excellent: Location: Location is perfectly situated in quiet, historical Wickford, RI. You can relax certainly relax there (plenty of shopping and restaurants) or venture to nearby Narragansett, Jamestown, Newport, Providence, or Boston. Property Condition: Although the home was built in 1785, it has been meticulously renovated to blend modern amenities (AC, modern furnishings, beautiful kitchen) without sacrificing the historical character. Great care was taken when remodeling this home. Amenities: the house comes with everything you need to feel at home. Plenty of dishes, utensils, grill with all tools. Appliances appear to be fairly new and gently used. We will stay again here again. I can't say enough good things about our experience here.

Perfect Blend of 18th and 21st Centuries

This residence was built in the late 1700’s and restored / remodeled to keep all of the character while adding all the modern conveniences including wireless network, both cable and smart TV’s, and air conditioning. The tranquil location on Main Street, surrounded by other historic homes, is a short walk to one of the many local marinas. It could not be more beautiful and convenient. This is a fully furnished and equipped family home. All of the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with exposed beams and refinished original flooring. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with a dishwasher and plenty of dishware to fill it. The owner responded immediately to our questions and any help that we needed. We were there two weeks and wish it had been longer. If this home were for sale, we’d be placing a bid on it!

Charming Historic Wickford Home

We decided we wanted to visit small towns in Rhode Island. In our research we found the Village of Wickford, RI. It is a quaint village with lovely restaurants, shops and a marina. We always look for homes on VRBO and found a wonderful historic home for our stay. The Aaron Peck House which was Built in 1785. It is a lovely home with warmth and lots of character. While charming and cozy, this historic home has been beautifully restored with original features but, also with updated appliances and every possible modern convenience. The home is a few blocks walk to the center of Wickford Village. Jamestown, Newport, Narragansett, Providence and other small towns are all within easy reach Ross is a very responsive host and was very helpful recommending restaurants/ Even though he was out of town on vacation he was always available by text to answer any questions we had. Experience historic charm and modern comfort in Wickford Village

Ideally located in the heart of Wickford Village, the Aaron Peck House (1785) envelopes you in both history and comfort. Lovingly maintained by the host family, the historic home makes you feel welcome and part of a story that stretches back to our country's infancy. The combination of historic and modern is so well done that you almost feel like the home has merely evolved with time. Set amongst other storybook homes and gardens, quaint shops and cafes, sailboats in the marina ready for sea, the home's backdrop is quintessential Rhode Island and New England. Although the location is ideal for exploring all of the Ocean State's natural beauty and cultural treasures, the home and village make it difficult to leave. Bring your camera, sense of wonder, a few good books, and not much else as the hosts and home provide everything you need to add your chapter to this historic home's story.

Great Location

This property is a wonderful location and does not disappoint. Walking distance to Wickford Village. Very old home with all the modern "stuff" you need or want. We're over 60 so the streaming TV left us a bit baffled but nothing a good book didn't solve. Great history and easy to get to Newport and other areas. We'd go back again.

Well-Preserved in Wickford

Historic house with modern upgrades and cozy elements. The kitchen was our favorite place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. The corner nook is so cozy and welcoming with its bench cushions and little pillows. So lovely to unwind in this sunny open space and gaze out at the treetops. Also we so enjoyed walking down historic Main Street and gazing at the historic homes. We felt like we were on the set of an autumn Hallmark movie. Thank you Ross for being such an awesome host. You thought of everything to make our stay absolutely delightful!

Fell in love with Wickford Village and the Aaron Peck House

Amazing stay! We never considered staying outside of Newport but glad we found this gem and discovered Wickford Village. The house and the town are even more impressive in person than they are in photos! The house is well-appointed, tastefully decorated and located in a great spot just down the street from the water. Amazing vacation during the Autumn Equinox

I had the pleasure of staying at this unique village home recently. Bright tastefully decorated well stocked kitchen is stunning. Spacious bedrooms with private baths provided a very comfortable stay. Time on the harbor view rooftop deck with the full moon above was quite memorable. What a great space to visit with family and friends. Enjoyed morning walks to nearby beach and evenings at village restaurants. Thank you Ross for the opportunity to stay at your home and also for the excellent communication.

Great Stay & Location & Host !

I rented out this property for two colleagues visiting the local office. It was a perfect place for "out of towners". The location is VERY walkable to all of the best restaurants and local shops, looks out to the Wickford harbor and it's also close to both the Providence and Boston airport. In addition, it was very clean and I felt extremely safe during this pandemic! Ross is a very hospitable host which made the stay even better. Definitely renting out this Wickford abode next time my collogues come to visit :)

About the host

Hosted by Ross Gilardi

Host profile image
Christy and I have been married for 17 years with two children named Lena and Lucas that are age 10 and 7. I grew up in nearby Narragansett RI, and my wife and I went to Boston College. We really enjoy Wickford and spend holidays and the month of August at the house. We take tremendous pride in having restored our 235 year old home last year in a way we've always imagined since buying the house in 2004. We love our house and think you'll love it too.

Why they chose this property

Wickford is off the beaten path from the crowded summer beach towns of South Country. If you've never been before, its the type of place that you will feel you discovered on your own for the first time. Wickford is not only a lovely summer destination. It also has character, fascinating history, and the type of unspoiled New England fishing village that is very hard to find these days without massive crowds and kitschy shops.

What makes this property unique

Wickford is a walking village. You'll need a car to explore the sites and beaches of southern RI but you don't need a car to get around Wickford. There are also ample kayaking, cycling, and surfing opportunities with 15 minutes of the house.
