About this property
Bend Country 4 BR/3 Bth, Amazing 9 Mt View, Quiet Peaceful 9 ac Getaway Retreat
Plan your vacation getaway and escape the destination resorts at our 4 BR, 3 Bath, quiet & peaceful lodge home retreat on 9 private acres north of Bend, "in the country but not far away"; only 10 min. to restaurants & stores if you need anything. Relax while gazing at the amazing 9 Cascade Mts views overlooking a bend of the legendary Deschutes River. Enjoy some of the many Central OR area activities, Skiing, Golfing, Fishing, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Biking, local Wineries & Micro Breweries, & more.
THE SPACE:
We designed the outside of our lodge home retreat with rough-sawn batten board siding & beams, porches, and 3 decks to "live outside", and move around with the sun and temperatures. Enjoy meals and barbecues together while taking in the amazing views of 9 Cascade Mts, overlooking lush green alfalfa fields, and a bend of the legendary Deschutes River.
Enjoy 2,000 sq ft of living area, 4 Bedrooms, 3 full Baths, Gourmet Kitchen, Dining Rm, & Great Room, and Laundry Rm. The Master BR is the 1st BR at the end of the hall on the right, it has a King bed, with an ensuite bathroom, Travertine, glass shower; & smart TV; going CCW to the left BR #2 is next, then BR #3, then Bath Rm #2 between, and last is BR #4 on the far left, all 3 with Queen beds, and all the beds are very comfortable, and the rooms have darkening wood blinds.
The 3 full bathrooms have Travertine tile floors and walls, knotty alder cabinets, and granite tops; the Main Bath is first down the hall on the right, it has a tub/shower with glass surround. The 3rd full bath is down the hall to the left between BR 3 & 4 and it also has convenient access to the hot tub.
The Great Room next to the Kitchen & Dining area is where everyone hangs, playing games, watching movies, and relaxing together on the 3 sofas and 2 chairs to watch the game or movies on the 50" HDTV Smart App TV which has also has Wi-Fi for streaming; there are also DVD's in the cabinet. It has vaulted ceilings, Knotty Western Birch floors, and a wood stove for that winter ambiance.
The Gourmet Kitchen, Island Bar counter, and Dining Buffet have Knotty Alder cabinets with Granite counter tops. The Island Bar seats 6, and the DR table seats 10; all of the furniture is imported Indian Rosewood. The Gourmet Kitchen is fully equipped, has 6 burner gas cooktop with hood & warming lights, spices, and condiments. We have our own 300 ft. well with the best tasting water in Oregon, with no chemicals.
Outside there are 3 decks with 1500 sq ft to enjoy all your outdoor activities; out on the front deck is where the magic is, a full 180 degree amazing view of 9 Cascade Mts. In the evenings sit around the gas fire pit in the four cushion rockers with a glass of wine and review the day's adventures and make plans for tomorrow. For outside meals on the front deck there's a table for 6, and also 4 around the firepit; on the north deck there's 2 more tables that seat 12 in the shade. After dinner soak those aching muscles from all of the day's activities in the Hot Tub while taking in the amazing views.
When it's hot there's always a nice breeze on the north deck; it's a great place to sit in the afternoon shade, play cards, or take a siesta in the lounge chairs. Also, farther out on the lawn there are two hammocks in the shade of the Juniper trees for some serious R & R. The Horseshoe pit and Boule court are out on the north side, too.
When it's a little chilly in the morning, the back deck catches the morning sun and is a wonderful place to have your coffee, sit and read, or gather for some early morning conversation.
On the south side we recently added a 40' rock water feature stream that cascades down the hill from the Gazebo and falls into the pond, it's a great area to take some wine and cheese and enjoy a picnic, or morning coffee while gazing at the view and listening to the rushing water cascading over the rocks.
Also up on the south side lawn by the Gazebo is the Bocce court where those who are more competitive can take on some challenges. If Bocce' isn't your game maybe you can get some revenge at the horseshoe pit.
Some of our family favorite memories have been sitting outside around the fire pit, after the sun sets the sky gets amazingly dark with no light pollution, all of the stars and planets come out and you can watch for meteors and satellites. Everyone who has stayed at the home are always amazed by the views and the quiet and peaceful surroundings,

GUEST ACCESS:
You have complete access to everything described above in "The Space".
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
We use our apartment on the right end of the home as sort of our "base camp"; when we have guests is when we usually do our traveling in our motorhome, visit our our kids and grandkids, or go camping. If we happen to be there for a couple days in between trips we are out of sight/out of mind, and are always respectful of your privacy, you'll probably never see or hear us unless you need something. Guests always say that they didn't even know we were there. The construction is designed for both areas to be insulated and quiet; we want you to have fun, watch movies, play music, games, and have a great time with your family and friends.
In the winter we suggest having an AWD all wheel drive vehicle with traction tires, or to have tire chains, which will make it easier for you to get around the area when there is snow.
GUEST INTERACTION:
Some guests want to come and relax and just hang out; and others want to get out and explore the area and get involved in all of the outdoor activities that Central OR has to offer. Tell us a bit about yourselves, what your plans are and what you would like to do while you are here, we want to make your stay fun and enjoyable. We can give you recommendations and information about what to see and do, just let us know; we'd love to hear your story!

About the host
Hosted by Tom & Tyrene Gary
Happily married for 52 years, we have 4 kids and 12 grand kids, and we have operated our own business for over 40 years. Our family vacationed in this area for 25 yr before we moved here 20 yrs ago, and we always wanted to live in Central Oregon, with the sunny weather and all of the Central OR outdoor activities, Skiing, Mt. Biking, Hiking, & Fly Fishing on the Deschutes, was always a dream we had. We love the quiet and peaceful surroundings, and the views are amazing. We designed the home to be a relaxing comfortable lodge home retreat.
In '02 we sold our home in Portland and bought a 40' diesel pusher motorhome and traveled around the U.S. four times, there are so many wonderful things to see and do right here in the U.S., after a few yrs we returned and moved to Central OR.
If you have any questions or need more information please reply and we'll get back to you right away.
Thank you, Regards, Tom & Tyrene

Why they chose this property
Before we purchased this property in 2005 we searched for property everywhere in the area for weeks. This property is very unique because the view is not blocked by any of the other hills around Redmond. It has an unobstructed 180 degree view of all of the 9 Cascade Mts, and overlooks alfalfa fields, and a corner of the legendary Deschutes River which you can even hear flowing at night.
What makes this property unique
It is very peaceful and quiet, and is a great place to rest and relax. There are no homes close by and you seldom hear any neighbors. There are no city lights or light pollution at night, when the moon has set it is very dark and is a great place to watch "starry nights". It is out in the country but only 10 min. away from restaurants, stores, gas, etc. if you need anything.
