Family gathering

Excellent property in a relaxing location with super-helpful owners. We loved the animals too ! If you eat out a lot, then a car would be essential (we knew that), though we had planned lots of family 'cooked-in' meals and get-togethers and the property was perfect for this. We'd gathered for my Grandson's Baptism and some family time, and Tapada was the perfect base for this. A fabulous time.

Many thanks. A car is essential, although thankfully we have a neighbour who is a taxi driver, so that is handy! This year I discovered it's possible to rent a car from a local dealership in Taipas, 4km away. If airport prices continue to rise, it's probably the best solution. It also saves the stress of motorway driving when you're just off the plane! Best wishes, Virginia

A wonderfully family friendly place to stay. The pool has splendid views across the hills and is a good size with easy entry for kids and a deep end for more adventurous swimmers. There is also an alternative pool available for a quiet plunge and laze.The Pool House and the Farmhouse complement each other. The first being conveniently near the pool the other being cool and shady on hot days. There are various sitting and eating areas to chose from and extensive safe garden spaces for children to wander in. Both houses are generously furnished and fitted with washing machines etc. The animals were winners for our family. The children helped feed the sheep and enjoyed petting the lazy dogs and a cat. Viginia was an extremely good and generous host. She provided anything we needed and various additional treats as well. She is friendly, fun and helpful.

Joli endroit tranquille mais très escarpé chemin étroit et chaotique pour arriver àu logement.La vue est plutôt sympa de la pool House .Le logement dans la maison principale est correct mais les salles de bains sont vieillissantes et froides et énormément d’humidité à cause de la condensation en hiver .(fin décembre 2025 début 2026). On a du demander d’augmenter le chauffage.La literie est moyenne, lits de 140 ou lits jumeaux . Seulement 1 lit de 160 .Le poêle est pratique en hiver dans les deux logements cela rends l’endroit plus chaleureux.Nous avons déguster des kiwis ,Oranges et mandarines car il y a beaucoup d’arbres fruitiers dans la propriété c’est très sympa de la part des propriétaires.Les cuisines sont bien équipée et à notre arrivée nous avions plusieurs produits dans le frigo ( fromage,beurre,jambon,confiture également pain café et thé) .Nous avons appréciés .Dans l’ensemble notre séjour a été agréable il y a beaucoup de choses à voir et à faire autour de Longos et pendant les fêtes toutes les villes même les plus petites sont magnifiquement décorées.

I'm happy you liked the location, Véronique. Driving a 10 seater minivan here is not ideal. There are two sharp turns. Thankfully there's no traffic, so you can just drive slowly. Or, go the alternative road, through the village of Longos. I did ask you if you were hot enough, and you said you were but simply asked me to put on the central heating an hour earlier, which I did (it was on for 7 hours a day). In fact before you came, I got the diesel deposit filled up and got in a tonne of wood for the two fires. The bathrooms' décor is inkeeping with a large characterful Portuguese farmhouse. There are wall mounted radiators in all the bathrooms, and they work well. I always provide toiletries and lots of towels, so guests don't have to bring bulky items in their suitcases. I pride myself on my beds - one is 1m80x2m, the other 1m40x1m95 and the twin beds are 1m20x1m95. The mattresses are new and the sheets are Percale cotton. At this time of year we have lots of kiwis, oranges and lemons. I buy in bread every day for guests and make sure they arrive to food and wine. This time I was on holiday myself, with all the family (my 60th birthday!), so I left the food/wine ready and my housekeeper bought in the bread and natas for your arrival. Sorry I wasn't here to meet you on day 1!
