Detached villa in the middle of nature and yet close to the beaches

Vila Alquevinho is located in the municipality of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, belonging to Tavira, eastern Algarve, Portugal. Just 30 minutes from Faro Airport, 15 minutes drive to Tavira and beaches. Short walk or car ride (approx. 2.2 km) to local shops, cafes and restaurants.
Vila Alquevinho is a modern Algarve-style villa, built in 2007 as a residential house and now in use as a holiday home. The villa is located in the hills at the back of Santa Catarina da Fonte Do Bispo and is easy to reach from the A270 São Bras/Tavira road.
Santa Catarina is a nice place where there are a number of small supermarkets, bank with ATM, pharmacy, lunchroom/bakery, cafés, hairdresser etc . The village has a central function in the area. The monthly market is on the 4th Sunday of the month. Here one can browse around and of course the inevitable chicken/pig barbecue to be enjoyed together with the locals.
The villa is modern, well insulated and comfortable. Equipped with air conditioning in all bedrooms and living room (summer cooling and heating for winter!) with a built-in fireplace. In addition, electric heating panels are mounted in the bedrooms and hallway.
WiFi , Smart TV and a DVD player. The villa is quietly located on a well-paved dirt road approx. 2.2 km from Santa Catarina. The location is surrounded by hills, unspoiled nature and stunning views with many birds and wildlife.
A (rental) car is necessary and gives many possibilities for visiting several beautiful sandy beaches such as Fuseta (15 minutes) and Barril (20 minutes) and the local towns such as Tavira (15 minutes), Olhao and S. Bras (10 minutes) and loule (20 minutes). The ramp to the A22 motorway (toll) connecting the entire Algarve coast to Spain and Lisbon (the Spanish border is less than 20 minutes ' drive) is about 6 km away. The villa is a short drive from many of the region's best golf courses , including those of Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo, Quinta do Lago to the west and Benamor, Monte Rei, Quinta da Cima, Quinta da Ria, Castro marim, Quinta do Vale to the east. In addition, the attractions in central and western Algarve, including the rock-Algarve near Albufeira, Zoomarine, the water parks and many historical sites are relatively close.
The villa has 3 bedrooms (2 spacious rooms with built-in wardrobes on the upper floor and 1 smaller room on the ground floor) and 3 bathrooms (1 en suite upstairs). It can accommodate up to 6 people. The 8 x 4 metre saltwater swimming pool (little chlorine use!) with outdoor shower is located at the side of the villa, from where there is a spectacular view of the hills. There are several nice terraces to sunbathe and sit outside. The beautiful mature rock garden, including carob trees and olive trees, offer extra natural shady places to relax. The immediate surroundings have beautiful hiking trails with many marked routes. The beautiful nature in spring, especially the almond blossom and wild flowers attracts many nature lovers. The area is also attractive for cyclists and mountain bikers, rentals available nearby!
The small town of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo is just 2.2 km away. It offers several mini-mercados /small supermarkets, several cafés, a Pharmacy, a fresh fish and fruit shop, a nice bakery with extensive lunchroom. Right next to the village is a good traditional Portuguese restaurant, O Constantino and Barriga located in the middle of the village and many others in nearby villages. The nearest large supermarkets are in Sao Bras (e.g. Lidl and Intermarche) at about 10 minutes drive. The new shopping center Mar shopping in Loule is only a 20 minute drive away, with a large Designer Outlet, Ikea and a beautifully enclosed shopping mall with nice fashion shops and even a Primark .
The kitchen is fully equipped and equipped with all conveniences. The villa is well maintained by local people who are reachable by phone. The pool is cleaned every week. We can be flexible regarding arrival days, early arrivals, length of stay and longer stays.

The villa offers FREE WIFI. In addition, there is a large Smart TV including the most important channels, plus a selection of DVDs, Dutch books and some games.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
SWIMMING POOL: Although families are always welcome and can enjoy themselves well in Vila Alquevinho It should be pointed out that the swimming pool (shallow part from 0.6 meters deep to deep section approx. 2 meters deep) is not fenced and very close is at the villa and therefore not suitable for children without supervision or non-swimmers. There are also spiky cactus plants on the unfenced rolling terrain where parents with little ones should be aware of.

SMOKERS: Smoking is not accepted in the villa but is not a problem on the terraces although careful removal of cigarette butts is essential due to the risk of wildfires, especially in the dry season.

From 2023 there will be a surcharge (due to unfortunately sharply increased costs) for the use of electricity (and gas). This surcharge is € 0.30 per kWh used and is settled by an advance payment of € 10,-- per rented day to be paid in cash on arrival!
Afterwards, the overpaid amount may be refunded.
