About this property

Bright and Airy Garden Room.

The studio was formerly an art studio and there are even some pictures on the walls that were painted there.

It is a good size space even with the sofa bed down in bed position. It has a little patio which get the sun in the mornings and is ideal for breakfast or lunch outdoors.

It's a lovely, light space with big windows on all sides and black out curtains to keep the light out while sleeping. The sofa bed is a standard double size, but very long. It has a comfy mattress topper to ensure a good night's sleep.

This is Neolithic Central with the World Heritage Sites of Avebury (4.7km) and Stonehenge Stone Circles (32km) nearby. In addition are lesser known Neolithic sites of Silbury Hill and the West Kennett Long Barrow (both 4.5km) are also well worth a visit.

The Studio is ideal for walkers with walks up the Dene, the Ridgeway, the West Woods or the Downs. It is also perfect for cyclists as we are just off the popular National Cycle Route 45, and there is a shed to lock bikes in.

Wonderful!
We so enjoyed our stay at Jessica's utterly charming property! Immaculate, comfortable, and Jessica was a friendly and generous host who, when she saw our travel fatigue, immediately popped in to make us delicious gin and tonics on the house. Jessica's garden, dogs and country location were all A+, as was nearby Marlborough for breakfast and charming shops. Pubs galore nearby, including one with first-rate Indian food. Avebury and other sites all an easy drive away. Highly recommend!!

Lovely break
The Studio is small, as detailed, but had everything we needed for our stay. It was comfortable, well equipped and located in a lovely peaceful spot, ideal for us to explore this part of Wiltshire. Jessica was on hand if any problems arise. We really enjoyed our time there and would certainly stay there again.

Quiet picturesque and relaxing
Our 4 nights stay in this delightful little Garden cabin was relaxing and quiet and close to so many beautiful historic sites and walks that are well worth visiting. Bed was surprisingly comfy and we had everything we needed to unwind in the country. For sure we will be returning. Jessica was a wonderful host and her two beautiful dogs were very friendly and a delight to be around. Huge thanks for a wonderful much needed break.

The Studio is situated behind my cottage which has been in the family for many years. It was my late mother's painting studio. Her creativity and eye for detail is evident in the garden which she designed and planted.

As for me, after 30 years of living and working in London as a market researcher, I took the plunge and gave it all up to live the dream here in the country. My days are busier than I had imagined, tending to guests, the house, garden as well as my dogs is a full time job, but very rewarding. I love this life; the outdoors, feeling the seasons change, getting my hands dirty in the garden, raising turkeys, horse riding or whatever is my latest craze.

Why they chose this property

It's small but perfectly formed space which feels larger than you imaging with it's large windows and French doors. looking out onto the garden is lovely. It has a well loved feel and quite personal feel, some of the paintings that were made in there still hang on the walls.

What makes this property unique

This is a magical place, both the cottage and the surrounding area are steeped in history and beauty which give it an amazing feeling of timelessness and continuity. The local history starts in pre-historic times; Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, to being on the edge of the Viking invasion where the Anglo Saxons of Wessex held them off. There are later Elizabethan manors, and grand estates of 16th and 17th centuries, etc..

You can walk out of the front garden, through a gate, and into National Trust owned fields full of Sarcen stones, or take the track across the road up to the West Woods. From there you can continue walking to the edge of the downs and see Iron Age Hill Forts. You can walk to Avebury Stone Circle through a Sarcen stone valleys and across the Ridgeway. Or you can just drive if you feel like relaxing!
