We had a wonderful stay!!! The kitchen had everything we needed! Hot tub, games, foosball, and pool table were perfect for evenings and nights after being at the beach all day!! Another fantastic week at the OBX!!
This house was PERFECT for our family of 7. We each had our own space and plenty of shared space to play games, plan activities and share meals. The location is convenient to all the OBX has to offer. We would stay here again.
We've enjoyed this house twice now and will likely be back. Quiet, clean and well appointed and only a short walk to the beach. A short walk the other direction and you can watch the sunset over the water on the sound.

Jeff thanks for staying! Glad to have kicked off our 2024 season with such great guests!!
Amber was a great host super responsive to any questions we had. The property is as described and a short walk to the beach. We will definitely consider staying again.
Beautiful beach house in a tranquil community! Short walk to beach and beautiful sunsets from deck. House had everything you need for a comfortable stay & was beautifully decorated. Hot tub, pool table & foosball table were a plus! Amber is a great host! Very responsive communication & provided information on area attractions, restaurants and grocery stores.
Our stay was nothing but amazing. Amber was extremely responsive and communicative host during our stay. The layout of her home was perfect for our family and we were able to create some great memories this year. The huge dining table made mealtime perfect where we also had some great laughs as well! The location of the home is perfect, we walked to the beach using Amber’s directions and we drove to the sound when we needed quieter days. Would definitely recommend staying when visiting the area.
This place was so nice for 4 teenagers and 4 adults! It was a nice walk to the beach and easy for the kids to bike to local attractions. Amber let us know that there were new cleaners, and it was noticed! Very clean and well kept! While it was rainy while we were there, Amber left lots of recommendations in the books! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
We loved our stay! Amber was great when communicating with us , she was super on top of things, and everything in the house was accurate with the listing. If you’re looking for a quiet, beach focused vacation and don’t mind a short walk to the beach then this property is perfect. It was easy to carry our beach gear up to the access point, though the dune is a bit steep (not the house’s fault) and the house was well stocked for preparing our meals when we didn’t want to eat out. We also loved the HUGE variety of games in the house. Thanks for a great stay!
We enjoyed our week at the Dancing Gull! The house was spacious enough for everyone to lounge, cook, etc. and the kitchen was well-equipped. The 2 large balcony-facing bedrooms were very roomy! The neighborhood was quiet and had plenty of friendly neighbors. Walk to the beach (about 10 minutes) made us grateful for our off-road beach cart with balloon tires due to tree roots and tricky terrain along the way. The outdoor shower was roomy and relaxing.
The house was spacious and had lots of amenities such as pool table, hammock, fooz ball and games for kids. Nice wrap around deck. Best thing for me was walking to a beautiful beach in less than 10 minutes. Beach was not at all crowded even on July 4th weekend. You walk back to house for lunch and take a break from sun and walk right back when you want.
Really enjoyed our time. There wasn’t a lot of places opened close around for food or for young kids to do but only 30 to 45 minutes to Nags Head & Kiddy Hawk. Friendly people around & the sound side was great for the little ones. Hot tub was great! All bedrooms are on 2nd. floor so if anyone gets up early you hear them. All in all it was a nice place to stay.

Lora so glad you enjoyed your stay at Dancing Gull. Waves is a very laid back little beach town, but we do have some really good hidden gems when it comes to restaurants. My family’s favs are listed in the house. Yes my bedrooms are all on one floor, considering my 3rd floor layout, I’m not sure where else I would put them!😆

5 min walk to the beach!
Dancing Gull was a perfect solution for our last minute beach vacation! Amber was more than accommodating to changes in pet requests and check in time! Able to bike to ice cream shops and restaurants nearby! The house is stocked with everything you need to enjoy a nice relaxing week away! You can tell the owners are making updates as they just purchased in 2017. Thank you for opening your home to us Amber!!!
This house is in a quiet, not overpopulated area of OBX. It’s great when you really want to get away. Although there were a few minor issues, the house was nice and the locals were nice. Especially the neighborhood cats! Walk to the beach. Beautiful sunsets! Not negative, however if you have tall/larger people in your family, the one shower is a little snug.
Our end of summer stay at the Dancing Gull was such a treat! Our family of 5 plus one set of grandparents were very comfortable with the rooms and overall setup. The lighting upstairs is wonderful, and the open setup was great, because the whole family could hang out while making dinner, playing pool, watching tv or doing their own thing while still together. The hot tub was really nice and the overall location was good too, just a short drive to the beach access and shops. The beach access trail was neat for the kids as well, since they could head up there on their own. Amber was very responsive and friendly. Thank you!
Beautiful home, convenient location, not crowded. Excellent communication from owner.
Four clean and beautifully decorated bedrooms, two and a half bedrooms, phenomenal great room with foosball, pool table and darts and a large dining room table. 3/4 wrap around decks provided plenty of room for my family of teens to be together when we wanted and some privacy when they wanted. The home is beautiful and the neighborhood/neighbors were fantastic. A short walk to the beach with a well kept trail was awesome. The views of the sunsets on the sound side is beautiful from the upper deck especially considering the grill and outside eating area. The hot tub was enjoyed by all and was a great way to relax. We did not get into any board games but there are a ton available. Plenty of parking and an outdoor shower to rinse the beach off was very appreciated. My family enjoyed our stay and we managed to keep the teens off of their computers and game systems for most of our time. Would definitely recommend.

David it was a pleasure hosting you and your family! Thank you for being a great guest and kicking off my 2025 season! We would love to have you back anytime!
Overall it was a nice house. It had a ton of activities to do while it rained or while escaping the heat i.e pool table, bikes, darts, and games. The walk to the beach was easy but the sand dune to get onto the beach was very steep and made it difficult if you were to have any type of breathing issues or even to much gear. Its a good location if you plan on staying on the beach majority of the time because it takes about 35-45 min to get closer to touristy spots and restaurants. The beds were comfortable. The hot tub worked great, but the mosquitoes were thirsty this past week!
We had a great week at the Dancing Gull! From the layout of the house to how fully stocked it was with all the essentials, we couldn’t ask for more. Being able to bring our dogs with us was amazing and we felt they had a great vacation along with us. The house is super clean and any minor things that came up, the owner was very attentive to communication. A short walk to the beach was great (our kids are a bit older so they liked the freedom to come and go), the beach supplies, bikes, etc. We could not have asked for a better relaxing beach vacation. I’m usually ready to head home by day 5 from a vacation but could have stayed another week! 😊
Nice vacation home 2 blocks from the beach and short walk to the sound.
Lots of kitchen supplies and utensils and pots and pans.
The walk to the beach is a trail through small path that has 2x10 planks that you cannot use a wagon or cart on. You do have to walk up a sand dune so you do have carry everything with you. Bring bug spray the mosquitos are plentiful at dusk and attack you as you walk through the path.
Bring your own paper products and toilet products. There’s only 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom. The own does supply a few laundry pods and dishwasher soap.
The hot tub is very nice and large enough for 6.
Outside shower is nice but could use a light because we had to use a flashlight to shower after our evening beach walk.
This was our favorite beach house so far. We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house.
House was very dirty and just found mor and more unclean as the week progressed.
Picket on stair railing broke
Outlets in kitchen didn’t work
Rain on deck hanging
Found rusted screws and nail on deck rain
Front storm door was half faking out
Grass needed mowed when we arrived no one ever mowed it looked pretty bad by the end of the week.
Hot tub was supposed to be serviced 2 times a week no one ever canes that we noticed and the chlorine dispenser in the tub was empty all week
House needs attention. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Cynthia, I didn’t understand much of what you wrote here so I’m glad I was able to reach out to you by phone for clarification.
A few things to note:
My landscaper came to mow the yard but since you had parked a vehicle and a trailer in the yard on the grass he decided against it for liability purposes.
I am proud to have one of the best hot tub maintenance women on the island! She came twice during your stay, I’m sorry you didn’t get a chance to say hello because she is awesome and she keeps my new hot tub in tip top shape!
I’m sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations, I work tirelessly to make sure all reasonable complaints are rectified in a timely manner.
Safe Travels!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Good location, dirty house
Pros: great location, short walk to the beach, quiet area, nice beach, new hot tub, spacious house.
Cons: the house was very dirty. Now, I'm not the one to notice every little hair on the floor but even by my low standards the house was just terribly unclean. I'm talking layers of dust and fur in every corner, moldings and vents nearly black, ceiling fans accumulated so much dust, it started falling off on top of us in chunks... I'm not even talking about under beds and behind couches. Those have not been cleaned in months if not years! TV mounts were all white with dust layers thick as fingers, probably never wiped since installation. Floors sandy, counters sticky, bathroom rugs wet.... We had to spend the first day just cleaning the house. I called the cleaning company as instructed by the owner but nobody got back to me. The owner was responsive but said she could do nothing if her cleaners don't clean....
Also, one of the bunk beds was broken.
Another thing to note, the path to the beach is short enough for adults and older kids but prepare to carry all of your chairs since beach cart won't fit. The trail is very narrow and there is a huge sandy hill at the beach entrance. Not a big deal for us but if you have small kids with strollers and carts, you won't drag those through the path and might have to drive to public beach access.

Every year the routine was the same: Pack the car the night before. Wake up before the sun to fill the ice chest and cram, what seemed like, the entire contents of the kitchen cabinets into any spare spots. Get on the road with your breakfast of soda and a pack of nabs tucked into your cup holder. The drive was always long, but that made the arrival all the more exciting. My dad took us on these beach trips every year. As a small child I enjoyed my time on the beach, frolicking in the sand and surf without a care in the world. To me "the beach" was any beach, but that all changed after one visit to the Outer Banks. This "beach" is so much more. When you visit you feel a connection that is hard to describe. That connection brought me back to the banks for my wedding atop Jockeys Ridge in 2007. My father was there to walk me up the dune. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease a short time later at the age of 55. It was devastating but my dad pledged to make as many memories as he could with his time. We took many more beach trips in these last 10 years. Owning a beach house was an impossible dream for my father. I loved the idea of a beach home but thought that was always a "someday" purchase. As my dad's disease slowly stole his personality, his humor, and his memories I realized not everyone is guaranteed a "someday". So we have taken the leap and purchased this property with the hope that we can provide our children with the kind of memories my dad left for me. RIP Daddy. We love you, always.
I hope that you enjoy your vacation to the Outer banks. I hope you have good weather, a cool breeze, and beautiful sunsets. But most of all I hope you make memories with your family and enjoy the time you have together!
