Absolutely fantastic house, wonderfully decorated throughout and had everything we needed for the bank holiday weekend. Great kitchen and dining area that was able to hold all of us, and a brilliant view across the old town and to the shore. great communication all around. Would highly recommend.

This was a wonderful historic property which was beautifully styled with amazing views from all the front facing rooms. We were a family visiting to celebrate my mum's 90th birthday. Within easy walking distance of the Old Town, shops, restaurants and the sea, the house had everything that you would need for a large party gathering. Just a few comments and pointers for improvement/future guests. What is not clear from the property description is that to get to the entrance to the property from street level there is a steep and uneven set of steps with a handrail for only part of the way. This would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. There is no on site parking as described, only street parking some distance away. The outside space shown on the property description is not fit for use and indeed was considered by one of our party to be a health hazard with pigeons roosting above and the area accordingly affected. The property is lovely but attention needs to be give to maintenance and cleaning routines. Whilst the housekeeper was lovely and super responsive, the owner did not provide a substantive response to the two issues we raised during and after our stay. We are not particularly fussy but felt it important to ensure that other potential guests know of our experience which is not consistent with the other reviews. Great property but just some issues which could be easily addressed to make this a perfect place to stay.
What a fantastic place this is. Eight family members ranging from 70yrs to 5yrs spent a week here in early August. The house is fantastically appointed and really has that wow factor whilst still retaining a cosy, homely vibe.
All the rooms are wonderfully furnished and equipped…the kitchen in particular has everything you need for a perfect staycation. At other rentals you often find yourself wishing they had such and such utensil or gadget…but not here. There is enough tableware and cutlery for the biggest of families.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are all extremely spacious with the beds providing great comfort whilst the showers are superb. Everything is of a very high quality.
The living room is fitted with a great projector TV that allows you to stream Netflix, Disney, Amazon etc. and helped keep the kids entertained on the occasional rainy afternoon. There is also a Sonos system with speakers in both the living room and the kitchen.
The location is perfect - just be prepared for a bit of hill walking! Located in the old town, it’s a stone’s throw from great restaurants, bars and pubs. It’s a 2mins stroll down to the seafront. For families it’s great as it’s near to all the things the kids love about the seaside but also right on top of great places for lunch etc.
All in all, we had a great week and are looking forward to coming back. I highly recommend The House in Hastings. The only point of note is that the house has no dedicated parking and whilst we found space at the top of the road, the walk down from the car wasn’t too bad but it’s a bit of an uphill slog to get it! Not a major issue to put us off rebooking but worth noting for those who are perhaps less mobile or have younger kids.
Beautiful house with fabulous decor and loads of space for a big family or friends get together. Great location in Hastings old town, ideal for the tat shops. The stairs will keep you fit which may not suit everyone but otherwise highly recommended.
