About this property
River view Portuguese Soul with terrace in picturesque Alfama, sleeps 7
Exquisite, charming building dating back hundreds of years, recently renovated.
Situated in the heart of Lisbon’s historic center—Alfama, the city’s most picturesque and authentic neighborhood—this apartment places you just steps away from some of Lisbon’s most famous monuments.
With an interior patio and a terrace to enjoy outside. Going up some stairs it has a private miradouro (balcony) with the most superb view over the Tagus River and Alfama’s iconic rooftops.
It can host up to 7 people.
This magnificent property comprises 2 separated apartments in the same building rented all together. It is divided into 4 floors with a modern open interior staircase:
- Ground floor: apartment with a bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom and shower and a patio (with a separated entrance).
- First floor: large suite and bathroom and shower.
- Second floor: large bedroom and bathroom and shower.
- Third floor: living room with a sofa bed, armchairs and a fully equipped kitchen. Going up some steps it has a private miradouro (balcony) with the most superb River and city view.
This premium space offers exceptional comfort, elegant golden accents, and abundant natural sunlight. One of the building’s defining features is its remarkable brightness—thanks to large windows and classic iron balconies, sunlight pours in from every angle throughout the day
This house is a haven for those who are passionate about painting, poetry, and the arts in all their forms. As you explore the space, you'll encounter stunning oil paintings brought to life on a variety of surfaces — from traditional canvases to furniture, walls, and more. Adding to the magic, the house is beautifully adorned with hand-painted verses from beloved Portuguese poets, creating a truly immersive artistic experience.
Bedding and towels are provided, as well as shampoo, shower gel, hand soap, and body lotion. Additional amenities include Wi-Fi, cable TV, air conditioning, a dishwasher, washer and dryer, coffee machine, toaster, and hair dryer.
A stay here feels like traveling back in time. At Portuguese Soul Alfama, you will be immersed in an awe-inspiring environment with golden paintings and walls, intricately decorated ceilings, vintage furniture, traditional Portuguese tiles, and a multitude of striking crystal chandeliers.
Portuguese Soul Alfama is the perfect place to nourish both your mind and soul.
The property consists of four apartments (I, II, III, and IV) available for individual rental (with capacities of 10, 5, 2, and 2 people, respectively) or as a whole (accommodating up to 19 people). If your desired dates are unavailable, please check the availability of our other apartments. It is possible to combine two or more apartments to accommodate a larger group.
Since the apartment is located in a historic area, cars are not permitted on the narrow street.
However, the nearest point for a taxi or Uber drop-off (in front of the Fado Museum) is just a 3-minute walk away.
For parking, you can park near the Fado Museum (free at night), which is only a 3-minute walk from the apartment. Alternatively, there is parking available at Campo das Cebolas, about a 10-minute walk away. In our opinion, a car won’t be necessary, as many attractions are within walking distance.
This apartment is not suitable for people with mobility restrictions or young children.
We offer self check-in, with entry codes sent to guests prior to arrival. Early check-in and late check-out are available upon request, subject to availability, at no extra cost.
The apartment is equipped with a home alarm system and a safe box for your convenience.
st emblematic quarter and one of the most rewarding for walkers and photographers, and where you find the most authentic Fado houses. It was settled by the Romans and Visigoths, but it was the Moors who gave the district its atmosphere and name (Alhama means springs of the bath). Because its foundation is dense bedrock, it survived the 1755 earthquake, and a walk through this old-fashioned residential neighborhood is now a step back in time.
It is a village within a city still made up of narrow streets, tiny squares, churches, and whitewashed houses with tile panels and balconies adorned with pots of flowers and drying laundry.
The district is of unbelievable beauty, and it must be experienced to be fully appreciated.
NOTE: Attention for June!
Lisbon is known for its June street parties and Alfama is the heart of those festivities. Throughout old Lisbon there are "arraiais" (old word for open-air party), where local restaurants set up shop on the streets and barbecue and grill sardines, etc. and people go drinking and dancing. On the nights of the 9th, 12th 23rd and 27th of June, the narrow streets become extremely crowded with local parties. Although it is a great atmosphere, it is very loud well into the night. Hi, I’m Ana!
I have a deep love for Lisbon and a passion for painting. Together with my sister, Sónia, we transform accommodations into spaces rich in history and tradition, that tell visitors stories of our country. We love working with recycled antique furniture and Portuguese handicrafts, and we're especially passionate about incorporating artwork and thoughtful details.
The result? Spaces that nourish both the mind and soul.
