Marvelous location and spectacular setting. The house is magnificent. Beautifully decorated, in a remarkable setting with every possible amenity. We would return in a heart beat.

Thank you so much for taking time to write this review. More than anything we are happy that you had a wonderful holiday and we are glad that you appreciated this lovely house and beautiful Porto Ercole. Certainly there are few better choices for a perfect holiday at the Italian seaside. We do hope that you will be back soon.
This house is very beautiful and comfortable even without AC. We loved our stay and hope to return soon. The gardens and outdoor space are wonderful. Lots of privacy for guests given how the bedrooms are situated. Roberto the chef was a treat and Nina the housekeeper very helpful.

Perfect!
We had the most amazing and perfect 10 days at Uliveto! The house is absolutely beautiful - wonderful layout with plenty of space. The gardens and fields and pool are stunning...the flowers are so fragrant and all of the wisteria was in bloom when we were there which was such a treat! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We were able to walk into town and absolutely loved Porto Ercole! I could have moved into Uliveto and we definitely hope to return!

Beautiful house and beautiful area
WOnderful house and wonderful area. The house is perfect for extended family vacation. THere are five spacious and well equipped bedrooms. Very comfortable beds and great bedding. House is super tastefully done. You will want to go home and redecorate your own home and buy lots of Italian linens! Beautiful pool. Roberto, the chef, is amazing. Nina, the housekeeper, is the best! So much to see and do in the area. Be sure to rent a boat and get out on the water!! You will not be disappointed here!

Thank you so much for writing. It is, indeed, a house to love, perfect fr families and also for friends. Plus , Porto Ercole, on the Tuscany Coast is one of the jewels of the Italy holiday seen, a carefully guarded treasure by those in the know. I hope that you will return.

beautiful home in a great location
The pictures of this designer home do not do it justice. The layout is great for a large group, affording privacy for all. It is a great spot for a large group, with a wonderful outdoor covered patio for dinners with adjacent space for socializing and relaxing. the large yard has a nice pool for enjoying the countryside with a view to the sea. My favorite part was the dinners on the patio with the master chef Roberto. You can rent vespas down the street and take them around the hillside above the property and around town. The agent was very helpful in helping us arrange transportation, chef, train and other logistics
The property is an old Tuscan farmhouse with a difficult layout and extraordinary number of dangerous stairs. We had no idea that all the bedrooms were accessible only using old steep outdoor staircases that had no handrail. The property listing should make that clear. As a result, our stay was extremely for my husband and I as our group included an 84 year old parent and a toddler. It was a miracle we had no falls.
The property is in dire need of updating. The flooring is largely bare concrete (which feels dirty), including in the bathrooms. We were expecting beautiful antique furniture but most of it looked very mundane and cheap. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, the bedroom air conditioning units worked well. Fyi The mosquitos were terrible so take repellent.
The outside area and garden is extremely pretty with wild flowers and citrus trees. The pool was unfortunately too cold to swim in and a very long walk from the house, but by mid July is probably warm enough to swim in until the end of August.
The housekeeper and chef are very well meaning and basically competent but nothing special. They do not speak english.
The property description on VRBO is out of date and inaccurate. The pricing needs adjusted dramatically. We were extremely disappointed that our friends all had much better villa rentals at lower prices. We were hoping to host a cocktail party at the house, but switched it to our friends’ villa instead as it was so much nicer.

Dear Lily, if you had actually stayed in this historic house, owned for centuries by an important aristocratic family ( but you didn't stay) you would know that there is a wonderful and easy internal staircase which leads to the first and second floor bedrooms. There is one bedroom reached by a private external staircase which is much appreciated by those who seek a bit of privacy. And yes, there are handrails.
About the furniture; The owners descend from a Papal family, and the husband is a New York antique dealer, but again as you weren't there, I understand why you might not have appreciated it's authenticity.
We stand by our description, and our sorry the people that actually stayed were disappointed in ways that we do not really understand.

A taste of Tuscany by the sea
A perfect place to call home in a classic Tuscan setting of Olive Trees. Ideal for a family reunion as 8 to 10 adults can have a comfortable time. Half way between Rome and Florence.

Fantastico!
We had a wonderful stay at Uliveto. The house and grounds exceeded our very high expectations--the photos, lovely as they are, do not do the home, or the setting, justice. The house is very thoroughly and thoughtfully, and exceedingly tastefully, appointed. Marianne, the local property manager, couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Porto Ercole (I almost hesitate to say) was refreshingly void of tourists, at least when we were there.
