Full Fibre broadband wifi connection.

Marigold House is a lovely holiday home - a spacious, bright and stylish 3 bedroom period house in a modern bright style, with contemporary open plan living spaces and expansive glass bifold doors - all leading out onto a sunny decked terrace with superb views of the pastel coloured cottages lining the Devon hills. The property has benefited from a major renovation in 2025 including a new bathroom with a shower on the top floor, a new fitted kitchen and an extended decking terrace.

Marigold House sits in the heart of Dartmouth, yet boasts an unusually tranquil location, just a couple of minutes walk along quaint cobbled streets to the bustling market square, numerous cafes, deli's, art galleries, shops and restaurants as well as Dartmouth's famous bustling waterfront. Many beautiful beaches are close to hand, including the blue flag beach at Blackpool sands, just around the corner, and its award winning cafe/restaurant.

This lovely Edwardian house enjoys a prime spot in the winding alleys of Dartmouth, South facing and with stunning views of the pastel coloured cottages beyond, yet right by the heart of the town, it is perfectly handy for everything you could ever want, yet so very peaceful. Tucked into a narrow historic lane, you're central, yet well away from roads and traffic. A perfectly tranquil and secluded spot - You really couldn't ask for more.

The front door at Marigold House leads on to an attractive galleried entrance hall, which in turn leads on to the master super-king bedroom and family bathroom with a bath, independent shower, sink and WC.

Two further bedrooms are situated on the first floor with a shower, sink and WC. One is a double bedroom and one is a king size room. The upstairs bathroom services both the top floor bedrooms.

The modern open plan living and kitchen dining room on the lower ground floor leads onto a stunning decked terrace with a Southern aspect and gorgeous views of the rolling hills and houses of the area - You'll find a sofa outside, the perfect spot for enjoying a glass of chilled Pimms or champagne! You'll also find the sun here for most of the day.

The accommodation is beautifully decorated, spacious and very well equipped. It is ideally suited to extended family groups, one or two families with children or relatives, or perhaps two or three couples taking a break together.

Parking can be a little tricky in Dartmouth depending what time of year. There are a few spots nearby for free including the market car park just at the end of the road (though you do need to move your car on the mornings that there is a market on). My suggestion is to park nearby unload your car and park the car further up the hill as you don't really need a car from etc house as everything is very nearby in Dartmouth.

If you're looking for somewhere truly special to stay - you've found it!

Other things to note
Marigold House, an Edwardian semi-detached property, offers wonderful views of the picturesque houses lining the rolling hills at the mouth of the river Dart. At the nearby waterfront you will find local fish & chips and crab sandwiches - an absolute must, or perhaps try one of the fresh seafood restaurants offering varied gastronomic delights. Dartmouth is a favoured holiday spot for families, couples and groups of friends alike. This small naval port is home to the Britannia Royal Naval College, the centre of Royal Naval officer training, and has played a vital role in the UKs long nautical history. Bayards Cove is the town’s most ancient and picturesque wharf with a beautiful cobbled quayside and Tudor artillery fort, which guards Dartmouth's inner harbour built in the early 16th century by the townspeople to protect their town quay.

The sea and the sand offer all types of water sports and activities, with many cruise ships visiting the beautiful port throughout the year. During the summer months the embankment of the River Dart is absolutely bustling. Children catch crabs, water taxis ferry to and from Kingswear, and private boats and larger vessels provide wonderful river cruises and trips upstream towards Totnes. There is also the lovely and familiar sound of the old steam train making its summer journey from Kingswear to Paignton and the English Riviera.

The Dart Estuary lies within a South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within the South Devon Heritage Coast. Just a short drive from Dartmouth is the award winning Blue Flag shingle beach of Blackpool Sands. Set in a sheltered bay and fringed by pines, this is said to be one of the area's most beautiful natural treasures, with turquoise blue seas lapping at the long stretches of sand. The South West Coast Path offers stunning scenery on short or long hikes, and you can head East towards Brixham or West towards Slapton Sands and Start Bay.

The modern Flavel theatre in town, just a few steps from Marigold House, offers theatre and cinema for adults and children alike the whole year through, and The National Trust properties of Coleton Fishacre and Greenway, the stunning holiday home of the much-loved author Agatha Christie, are both close by. Just a few steps along the coast are yet more beautiful Devon villages, including Totnes and Dittisham, with the historic market town of Kingsbridge just 13 miles west of Dartmouth, and the beautiful beaches of Salcombe well worth a day trip at around half an hour away. You can't help but love the place.

The South Hams are the perfect location for longer holidays and for year round short breaks, with the wonderful mild climate of the Southernmost tip of Devon helping to ensure the very best of sunny days - the South Hams name deriving from the old English Saxon word 'Hamme' meaning 'sheltered place.'

Come and try the great restaurants, Blue Flag beaches, delicious local ice cream, crabbing, sailing, stunning views, excellent shopping and art galleries, Devon cream teas, coastal walking, and of course the famous Dartmouth Regatta...

Each year the Dartmouth calendar is choc a bloc with sea and land based events and this special town festival is the absolute pinnacle of the fun. Since 1834, the Dartmouth Royal Regatta has been the highlight of the year, and the whole town gets swept up in the atmosphere of this wonderful event. Visitors get to enjoy a host of treats, from sailing to market displays to marvelling at the acrobatics of the Red Arrows and the most astounding firework displays in these last special days of August.

Perfectly located for weekend stay in Dartmouth

As previous reviewers have mentioned, some of the furniture in the living area is a bit tired and the outside spaces could have been better looked after, but there is plenty of space, the bedrooms were absolutely fine and we all slept well. We believe the property is being taking off the letting sites whilst being extended, so can see why the owners wouldn’t replace the furniture. However, none of that stopped us from having a great weekend, a great space for 3 couples ideally situated in Dartmouth. The owner answered all my questions quickly and checking in and out was a breeze. (Need some wine / champagne glasses!!). Would recommend.

The house is in a great location for the town & river. Nice spacious house, could do with a bit of TLC & tv room was damp and dingy. Overall we all had a lovely holiday

Spacious and Very Central

This 4 story semi detached house is perfectly central in Dartmouth, very close to shops, pubs, the estuary and restaurants. It is on a footpath rather than a road so DO NOT under any circumstances attempt to bring a car to the door. Parking in Dartmouth is always challenging but the Mayor's Avenue Car Park is very close and the property provides a free 24hr permit. Whilst clean and well equipped the house is now looking a bit shabby and unloved compared to the photos which are quite a few years old. The sofa has collapsed, armchairs threadbare and the courtyard overgrown and full of weeds. The only TV is in the small musty basement so bring your own entertainment. The large kitchen/lounge/diner opens right up onto a tired balcony but the view is limited by the overgrown plants from the courtyard below. It wouldn't take much to return this property to its former glory in which case I would happily return.

Nice sized house in need of some TLC

The house is in an excellent location for walking into town. Although there is no parking outside the house as it’s an extremely narrow road which would only be suitable for a small car so be prepared to walk with your luggage. You might also struggle to get a spot in the car park where there is one permit. space especially in peak season. So don’t rely on this space being a space as it not guaranteed. The house is large and set over 3 floor and the basement has a TV room. The house is in need of TLC and the pictures look like they are from the previous owners. The chairs in the front living area have holes in them and the cushions buttons missing . The picture shows a gas hob but it’s is now ceramic and the oven is no longer gas but the instructions books are still the original books. The kitchen and cupboards needed a clean and most utensils needed a wash before use. The back splash had just been wiped over as you could see the smears. The bedroom drawers had handles missing and every time you opened the drawers the mirror fell over in the smaller double. There were also handles missing in the main bedroom. The bathroom was lovely and has a good shower but the tray fills with water and I removed quite a lot of hair from the drainage but it still seemed blocked. The state of the art TV room is in the basement and was not very inviting. You could only fit two people. So apart from my nephew watching football this was not used, you couldn’t watch tv as a family or a film and you wouldn’t want to leave younger children on their own down there. The courtyard garden is overgrown and dark and needs a good weed and cut back to make it more inviting. And the BBQ a good clean. The step leading to the side gate had a old patio umbrella which had seen better days and other household bits and pieces which could of been tidied away. As you look at this through side window in the kitchen. The decking was a nice space although the decking and furniture could of done with a clean. I know you can’t avoid the seagulls but the space was unkept and uninviting. We very much appreciated the hosts prompt feedback especially when we locked ourselves out !! I think the details and pics need updating to show a true reflection of the house now, I wouldn’t say this is a truly special place to stay unless some TLC was applied and there was more attention to detail.
