About this property

Winslow Cottage, Stylish Cosy Cottage with Spectacular Sea Views

Winslow Cottage is a delightful cosy cottage located in the Gwavas quarter of Newlyn and with links to the American maritime artist Homer Winslow. Perched above the harbour the first floor accommodation offers stunning views across Mounts Bay to St Michael's Mount and beyond. It's perfect for couples looking for a romantic and relaxing break in unspoilt Cornwall away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This typical fishing village cottage has all the character you expect, but its design and decor have that touch of elegance and luxury whilst still retaining the original features such as the steep boat style staircase. If you have a recent addition to your family we can provide a travel cot and high chair on request. The cottage is ideally situated to explore both Newlyn, Mousehole and Penzance and the spectacular coast and unspoilt areas of the beautiful West Penwith.
Dogs are always welcome.
The outside area is a shared path with the neighbours but a small table and chairs allows you to have a glass of wine or two in the evening or breakfast alfresco in the sunshine. This gated area ensures safety from the road for dogs and children whilst you enjoy the views.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

I absolutely loved this property. Tye cottage was so cozy with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Great views of the harbour and very close to town. If you're driving, parking wasn't an issue and the bus stop is at the bottom of the hill with easy transportation across Cornwall.

A darling wee cottage! Clean, modern amenities, super communications with owners. And, as shared with the owners…our concerns:1)VERY steep stairs up to Bathroom & Bedroom… handrail did not go far enough to support the last number of stairs where they turned to the top floor. 2)car park… we were ever sooo lucky to leave our rental car parked approx…150 ft./50 metres uphill on the right: approx. 5 car spaces, as FREE… otherwise figure out pay parking….just a bit lower down the hill from the Cottage. Again must say how very darling is this cottage… over looking the water, withSt.Michael’s Mount in view! And, we left our car parked for the whole5 days,4 nights… & took the bus to other places…easy to do.Bus Drivers figure out the best ticket price for where you are going! Locals we spoke with were very congenial/helpful!! The Co-Op store has all you really need for groceries! And… this is such a much more relaxed, pretty darned quiet place vs St.Ives!! We walked to Mousehole, then took bus back… Also, is easy to take bus to St.Michael’s Mount & return on a day pass. And, the double scoop ice cream cone at St.Michael’s Mount is gargantuan!! Will replace a lunch!! NOT kidding!! All in all… just wonderful!!

Alovely little house with a beautiful view

Great location without being in an overly "touristy" town, this lovely little cottage was a great home away from home. Beautiful views across the bay towards St. Michaels Mount too.

Fabulous cottage in a fabulous town

We loved our stay. The cottage was bright and cozy. Lots of lovely touches. Importantly a great bed and shower and we loved the telescope to watch the fishing boats coming and going. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Quaint cottage

Exactly like the photos and even cozier in reality. Communication with the hosts was very good. Great view from upper windows, overlooking the bay with St. Michaels Mount in the distance. Bus stop literally around the corner. Can recommend.

Winslow Cottage is a beautiful and very cozy cottage. We loved every minute here. The house is lovely decorated. The location is also excellent as you are close enough to walk to restaurants, beaches, and sights by foot, yet it is located in a quiet, secure neighborhood with great sea views. Overall: Perfect!

Newlyn cottage

We loved the fact that Newlyn was less touristy and an easy walk to Mousehole which is very pretty and unspoilt. Two local pubs we both great. The cottage was perfect for our needs but don’t expect the bed area to be spacious.

Awesome mini break

Our stay at Winslow Cottage was everything we hoped for. We wanted a quiet place to relax away from reality. The cottage was tastefully decorated and we loved the wood burner in the lounge. The only negative is we only had 3 days there. We would rent the cottage again in the future.

Lovely Cosy Cottage

Lovely little cottage, exactly as described and with everything you could need. Very grateful for the logs, which made for cosy evenings. The car parking was a little challenging, but we were made aware this could be the case, but luckily found spaces nearby. Thank you Mark and Fiona for looking after us so well!

Lovely quiet cosy cottage - great location.

Loved this cute cottage and its' location. Walking distance to Penzance and Mousehole if you need to. Able to take ferry to Scilly Isles. Convenient grocery shop for supplies also nearby pub and bakeries. The owners' attention to detail in the interior design and household appliances and supplies was amazing and was much welcomed and appreciated. View from upper floor window is spectacular. Definitely a romantic hideaway (not suitable for very young kids ie steep stair case). No parking at the cottage but a small public carpark very very close - had no problem at finding a spot during our weeks stay. Had an amazing time.

Everything you could possibly want

Winslow Cottage was a beautifully renovated little house and very clean and comfortable. We were able to park in the long stay carpark 2 minutes walk away then walk to everything we wanted, including restaurants, pubs, a small supermarket and buses to Mousehole and to Lands End. Penzance was at most a twenty minute walk along the promenade, but also an option by bus. We had views of the harbour and St Michael’s Mount from the upstairs windows (or a short walk away). Mark and Fiona were really fast at answering questions, gave great advice on things to do and places to eat, and even left us a welcome hamper with wine and biscuits, as well as tea, coffee and milk. Our only regret was that we could only stay two nights! The bedroom and bathroom are up a narrow flight of stairs but it’s an easy climb for most people.

Beautiful and relaxing

Winslow Cottage was love at first sight! It's a wonderful place to spend at least one week in Newlyn and Cornwall's West Coast. The Cottage was unbelievable cosy, comfortable and tastefully furnished. To see St Michael's Mount and Mounts Bay every day was a great plesure for us. We had plenty of walks, more than once especially on Penzance Promenade and parts of the South West Coast Path. Using the Go Corwall App is highly recommended. E.g. we went to St Michael's Mount, Porthcurno, Mousehole and St Ives by Bus. That's very relaxing :-), not going by car during the week... Enjoyed our stay very much. It was fabulous! We would come back to Winslow Cottage at any time.

Very small with steep stairs

Please be aware the stairs are very steep and narrow. I'm a gym go'er and found these tricky. The bed is comfy but short (hubs is 5'10 and had to lay at an angle. The 'sofa' isn't comfy, it's hard and upright. Parking: We had to park a ten min walk away in sandy cove car park which is pay as you go or £20 for the weekend by calling - it's safe.

Small, but perfectly formed cottage

Overall, a 5 star experience. A very sweet, bijou & well presented cottage, a short walk from Newlyn’s amenities & excellent eateries and, within walking distance of Mousehole. The cottage has a wood-burning stove, supplied with a generous basket of logs, though we topped up with our own supply - it heated the place quickly and made it very cosy. The newly refurbished shower was excellent, with a plentiful supply of hot water, with good pressure. Whilst there was very restricted access to the bed (not helped by the extra wide foot board), the bedroom had a roomy dressing area with plenty of space for hanging clothes and storing bags out of the way. The bed was very comfortable and such a pleasure to sleep on Egyptian cotton bedding. The kitchen had everything needed to self-cater, though we were somewhat bemused by the draining board that drained water straight onto the floor! Communication from the hosts was excellent. A very enjoyable stay!

Simply Wonderful...

Me an my partner wanted to escape the bussle of London and enjoy stunning views and great food especially with him being a chef. We couldn't of picked a more perfect location in Winslow Cottage and Newlyn. I have got to say Winslow Cottage is even better in real life the photo's dont do it justice, it is clean, refreshingly bright and tastefully decorated and the views especially in the morning are just WOW. It is a short stroll into the harbour which has some fabulous local seafood restaurants including, Mackeral Sky, Argoe and The Tolcarne Inn. Tourism definitely hasnt hit Newlyn like other areas such as St Ives, which makes it all that bit better for a nice relaxing break. If you fancy a stroll there are fantastic local villages such as Mousehole which you can easily walk or ride too an has has stunning coastal paths finishing up at a quaint little sea-side town with lovely places to eat and the other way is St Michaels Mount which is absolutely stunning. All in all, I would absolutely recommend my only regret is not booking longer.

Truck House has been our family home for over 24 years, and when our two daughters flew the nest, we couldn’t bring ourselves to part with it - so, we decided to share our lovely home with others. Over the past 5 years, we have had the pleasure of hosting guests from all corners of the world. So enjoyable has it been, we have now expanded the business with the addition of the Coach House Studio, Kara Cottage and Winslow Cottage.

When time allows and when not hosting guests, we love nothing more than jumping in our campervan with our two springer spaniels, Belle and Bryher, in search of perfect waves and wildlife. Cornwall has so much to offer that we rarely stray from her shores but, on occasion, we do and in recent years have visited Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka ,Costa Rica, Spain and Portugal. We look for something special from the places we stay in and know our visitors will too.

We want our guests to have a wonderful experience, to relax, unwind and feel at home. We are always striving to improve and welcome your feedback to help us grow. So, live life to the full and enjoy Luxury Cornish Escapes!
