Very nice house with exceptional views in a small, relaxed village set on top of an hill above Rethymno. The villa itself is on a sloping lot - you enter the villa on the second floor, with an outdoor patio overlooking the pool area on the first floor. 3 rooms (2 beds each) and bathrooms are set on second floor, with a separate section with a large room (3 beds) with a tea kitchen, but no bath rooms on the first floor - opening towards the pool area. We were 2 families with 8 people (4 adults, and 2 adult kids and 2 minors) - the large room in the first floor next to the pool area was excellent for the 2 adult kids. Stunning views towards Rethymno (you can actually see the fortezza) and Mediterranean to the North, towards the White Mountains to the West, and towards the Ida mountain (partly covered by trees) towards the East. Since the villa is set on top of a cliff, you can see the road from Rethymno leading up to the village from the west bound terraces. The village itself is small - two tavernas, once which is nice and old, one with stunning views but more simple menu, and then one mini market / coffee shop, run by a very, friendly young couple. The coffee shop is a gem and gets you what you need. The staff at the villa came once during our stay - very efficient, super fast and friendly, One thing: the kitchen supplies does have their limits - no decent cooking knives and only one cutting board. A small trip to IKEA should fix this at limited cost.
