About the host
Hosted by Julie Taylor
Paul and I lived in London for about 40 years and then moved to the Yorkshire Dales in 2015. We ran a 5 Star 10 Bed holiday Let in Askrigg and lived in Garsdale, Sedbergh. In 2020 we decided to move to Canonbie, just over the Border into Scotland. This gave us the opportunity to have our Holiday Lets on the site where we live. We have refurbished the cottages and hope you enjoy them as much as we have enjoyed refurbishing them.
Why they chose this property
We love the location, history and size of the property. It gives us the opportunity to grow our own fruit and vegetables. We are also able to let two of the cottages, which were originally Steadings and were converted by the previous owners. The main house, built in 1850, was originally the residence of the Head Forester for the Eskdale Estates of the Duke of Buccleuch.
What makes this property unique
The local area is unspoilt and has history. There are local walks along the River Esk, The Fairy Loup waterfall and the Reiver Trail to name just a few. Plenty of wildlife is also in the surrounding vicinity. The River Esk is also a fishermans delight.
